Merchant craft - Solaris

Privately contracted by several planets, this anonymous manufacturer developed a ship capable of efficiently travelling across the universe with cargo. Upon the development of jump drives, this ship, only ever designated as the model 025B, became outdated and disused.

The vast amount of these ships found in scrap yards after their decommission was noticed by merchants in need of ships for station to station selling, seeing an opportunity, merchants rushed to purchase the remains of these ships, transforming their cargo bays into shop fronts for customers, commonly fitting holographic signage projectors onto the ships to display sales and stock.

Wide spread use of these ships returned thanks to merchants, the low fuel consumption across long distances thanks to the solar sails allowed small merchant businesses to keep maintenance and refuelling costs low, boasting a new era of trade in many solar systems...
