How to get English subtitles

Ever wonder why there aren't subtitles for us English speakers? Well, now you can have them!

Note: the mod you will be installing in this guide is re4 tweaks it does much more than add English subtitles a list of features can be found at this page.[nipkownix.github.io] If you really don't want these changes for some reason, but still want subtitles then you will have to configure the mod to disable these features. Also I'm not the mod creator so any bugs you encounter should be directed to the linked github page not me.

  1. Download re4 tweaks from this link. [github.com]
  2. Go to your games's folder by going to the game in your Steam library right clicking it and going to manage>browse local files.
  3. Navigate to the "Bin32" folder.
  4. Open the zip file you downloaded and extract everything into the Bin32 folder. This should be dinput.dll, dinput.ini, and the re4_tweaks folder.
  5. Run the game. A pop up will show up saying that your game isn't patched and asks if you want to patch it. Click yes.
  6. Go to the video settings scroll all the way down to the bottom and turn on subtitles.
  7. That's it! You should now have full English subtitles for the game. If you wish to configure the settings of re4 tweaks just press your F1 and you will bring up the configuration menu.

yeah, aswell as the tweaks folder but guess the issue mustve solved itself over night bcs ths morning when i went to launch the game it suddenly works?? Weird but thanks for the help anyway!

@RatInAHat are the files "dinput8.dll" and "dinput8.ini" present in your "Bin32" folder?

im having issues with the pop up not,,, well,, popping up? Idk im not very experienced with mods so i could very well be doing something incorrectly but the instructions seemed pretty straight forward so idk what i couldve done wrong

@Get Ready The mod does include English subtitles despite the feature list not including it.

The list of features doesn't include subtitles at all and that's super confusing. Down here in the comments I see that it doesn't always work for everyone so wtf

@Hooligan Spooks same here. I'm not completely deaf in my ear but it always sounds like everything is muffled like wearing an earbud.

@AlcatoN No it doesn't. I've played through the entire game with re4 tweaks and have had no problems with achievements.
