Bloody Effects
Back in the earlier years of Black Mesa, there used to be blood on your hands and weapons when you would kill someone/thing.
(NOT MY IMAGE)

This feature was later removed due to performance issues. But there is still a way to enable it. And it's a lot easier than expected.
How to Get Bloody Effects
To get bloody effects, open up the developer console and write "cl_mdldetailfx_enable 1" (without the quotation marks) and then simply kill something/someone.

How To Disable Bloody Effects
Change "cl_mdldetailfx_enable 1" to "cl_mdldetailfx_enable 0" and the effects should be gone as soon as you load in the next map.
Thanks For Reading
Thanks for reading and enjoy your weapons being covered by the blood of your enemies.

See Jimmy that's the thing... you don't have to put it in every time

you can right click black mesa in your library, go to properties, under general it says launch options. You can put the same command in their so you don't have to put the command in every time you launch the game. Hope this helps

Damn, I thought it was my graphics card that didn't support blood overlay on weapons, but it turns out it's just off by default...

Cool beans.
Does it still affect performance?
I think I'll be fine, but I was expecting a note regarding the actual performance impact.
