Downloading the game.

You can find a download to the game using this link.

Be warned, any legal issues with randy over this are on you G.

Once here choose any of the download links and grab the game.

You'll also need a program like 7zip or Winrar.

Extracting the download

Once you've downloaded the game you'll be left with a Zip file called:

"Duke.Nukem.Forever.2001-x0r_jmp.rar"

Make a new folder and extract the contents into it, the folder should now look like this.

Once everything's extracted you'll be left with a whole heap of zip files, proceed to highlight them like so.

And extract them.

Your folder should now look like this.

Applying the patch

To start applying the patches, open this folder.

Then open the Mega patch folder.

Now copy all of the contents of the folder.

Open the October 26th build folder.

Then proceed to the system folder.

And paste all of the contents from the Megapatch folder in here.

Now head back to the patch folder and head to the D3D8Wrapper folder.

Copy the 2 folders inside of it.

Paste these into the System folder as well.

The game should now be patched and should work.

Playing the game and setting a Custom Resolution

Now inside the system folder you can find the Dukeforever.exe, simply double click it and launch the game.

If the game doesn't launch properly and has a black screen whilst you hear audio, simply head to the system folder and delete these 2 files.

To set a custom resolution simply press "F12" and type "setres 1920x1080" or your desired resolution.

Additional Information / Fixes and cheats

For anyone who's having issues with the wrapper, a D3D8 to Vulkan wrapper someone made for Postal 2 that seems to work with this.

ghost (NOCLIP)

thanks, is the postal wrapper the D3D8 file included with the mod? I didn't install in correctly last time but the texture are no longer messed up.
Just checking that I have everything.

you need to download the postal 2 wrapper to get rid of the texture glitches. and for the generic model i had that too, you are supposed to be able to change to duke from the multiplayer menu but mine had no option, but it appeared after i downloaded the multiplayer mod. those are both in this guide

hey 2 issues.

1. Instead of playing as duke im some generic military guy.
2. The textures for the mighty boot are messed up, some triangle sticking out his leg.

How do I fix this, if i can?

Also while I'm thinking of it is there supposed to be voice lines? i know this is a unfinished build just curious how far along it is.

Personally I would use Vulkan wrapper from DNF01-MP-PatchPackage as it seems a bit more stable & oc adds working mp server browser

Yeah for anyone else with buggy textures just flopping everywhere, most noticeable on the Assault Rifle, Just replace the wrapper with the located in the guide.

is there a way to fix the textures flashing around, at some points it makes the game unplayable because it blocks the view of everything

Honestly it's such a shame... This version is legit from what I had the chance to play. The entire Las Vegas first act is such a blast... This game had so much fking potential it's a real fucking shame. The gameplay is smooth as hell from the part that are playable. Level design is on fking point to even put to shame some of the games that came out in the 2000's. Duke Nukem Forever 2001 could and should be finished.
