Velvet, the Champion of Foenum's Tundra from Them's Fightin' Herds, joins the fight in Rivals!

Velvet is an extremely combo-centric character. Many of her attacks are quick and easy to chain into each other, but don't exactly hit the hardest. She needs to rack up a bit more damage than most fighters to score KOs, but building up this damage comes more naturally to her than most.
Velvet's gimmick is her magic meter. This meter allows her to use her Neutral, Forward and Down special moves. It fills to a maximum of 6 Magic Stacks, with one Magic Stack gained for every four hits Velvet lands, further incentivizing combos.

SPECIAL MOVES



Neutral Special: Snowball Toss (Uses 1 Magic Stack)
Velvet prepares and fires a projectile. This move can be angled to change the trajectory: holding up during the prep window makes it curve upward, holding down has it curve down and bounce off the ground, and holding forward/back/no direction makes it travel in a straight line.

Forward Special: Magic Wind (Uses 1 Magic Stack)
Velvet spins in place, summoning a large gust of wind that blows opponents towards her on hit.

Up Special: Mini Cyclone
Velvet spins again, but this time, she can move around during the spin. Gives vertical momentum when used in the air. Both the aerial and grounded versions have a very small amount of Soft Armor.

Down Special: Magic Ice Eruption (Uses 2 Magic Stacks)
A quick combo finisher and one of Velvet's best KO options. Both hits count as a physical hitbox, so it only really uses 1.5 Magic Stacks if you successfully hit with it.

OTHER NOTABLE MOVES

Forward Strong: Shatter B -> Shatter C (Shatter C uses 1 Magic Stack)
If you have at least one Stack of Magic, pressing the Attack and Special Buttons simultaneously after the active frames of Shatter B will have Velvet leap into the air and fire the Shatter C projectile. Useful for hitting opponents who dodge just out of Shatter B's range, or for tacking on some extra damage if you land Shatter B at very low damage levels.

Forward Tilt and Down Air: Icicle Missile and Ice Eruption
These moves are both projectiles, and as such do not fill up Velvet's Magic Meter. Icicle Missile is a less powerful alternative to Snowball Toss that cannot be angled, while Ice Eruption (not to be confused with Magic Ice Eruption) is a projectile that clings to whatever surface is below Velvet, similar to Maypul's Down Air.
