Have you ever wanted to have a colonist who is willing to sleep outside without having to be scarified? Or who can cut down trees? What about a Production Specialist who can still be friends with animals? Or just has more realistic expectations for survival?

Adds a survivalist meme that allows for precepts and roles related to survival to be selected without more impactful memes. Default Style is Totemic. Starts with Pemmican research.

Allows the Rough Living – Welcomed and Temperature – Tough precepts to be selected without requiring Pain is Virtue or Tree Connection.

Allows the Production Specialist role to be selected without Human Primacy, allowing your pawns to bond with their faithful animal companions.

Adds two new precepts, Fungus – Tolerated and Insect Meat – Tolerated, which cause -2 and -1 mood for raw and cooked, respectively (as compared to the default Despised precepts, which cause -6 and -3 mood).

Requires Research Speed – Slow, Very Slow, Extremely Slow, or None to be selected. Survivalists focus on surviving with what they have, not discovering new technologies (intended as balance).

July Update:
New Player Faction: Survivalists. Basically a combination of Colonists and Tribals, neolithic research level with “modern” name generation for starting pawns, faction/settlement naming, and ideologion roles. Starting pawns wear modern clothes, in plainleather.

New Scenario: Homestead. Two survivalist pawns try to scratch out a living on a hostile world. Some starting equipment, Stonecutting research, and a husky are provided.

New Scenario: Primitive Technologist. One solo colonist returning to nature with only the clothes on their back, a knife, and a few meager supplies. Like Naked Brutality, but with more starting gear and less starting research.

I haven't tested it but it should be. It’s an XML only mod working entirely within the Vanilla Ideology framework.

Vanilla Ideology Expanded?
There should be no actual mod conflicts between this mod and VIE as all defnames are prefixed correctly. However, a VIE-Serketist Structure/Survivalist Meme ideology will not be able to select the Insect Meat – Tolerated Precept, as the Structure requires other insect meat precepts to be selected. This is the structure working as intended.

Other Mods that patch Ideology (like Roles untied to memes)?
The patches in this mod have been corrected to not fail if they are unable to find the correct node. However, if you are seeing patch failures from this mod and are using another mod that modifies vanilla precepts (like Roles untied to memes), loading that mod *after* Survivalist Meme should take care of this issue.
