I am always jealous of the huge amount of highly customisable US themed road sets in the workshop. Inspire by the existing assets, I decided to make a comprehensive road pack by myself, which will be highly customisable, Adaptive Network compatible, and with a theme that fits the needs of the international community outside the US.

The International Roads Pack (IntRoads) are designed with loose reference to the UK/Hong Kong markings standard. The networks are highly customisable, that means it’s minimal – you can use Node Controller, Intersection Marking Tool, Adaptive Network, Prop Replacer, and Curb Height Adjuster to easily achieve the style you want.

The file size is so big!

The file looks huge, but all the roads share only two sets of textures, and some meshes (e.g., median) are reused across road types. Using Loading Screen Mod can drastically reduce the memory demand and loading time.

Why so many dependencies?

Adaptive Network (AN)

Many core features of the networks, such as appearance of road signs, continuous median etc., are based on Adaptive Networks and TM:PE rules. While you can build the roads without this mod, you’ll lose most of the additional functions. I also haven’t tested the roads without AN enabled so weird glitches may occur.

Network Tiling

The lane textures will display incorrectly without the Network Tiling Mod. This mod is used to make more accurate and efficient textures that can be shared among network types.

HK Traffic Lights, Road Markings and Signs

The vanilla props are out of scale. Custom props are used to ensure a realistic look. You can use Prop Replacer to replace the signs at your desire.

Features
  • RHT and LHT Compatible
  • Elevated, Bridge and Tunnel for each network type (bridge generates concrete retaining walls)
  • Road and pavement textures respect your map theme
  • No stop and crossing markings – unleash your creativity with Intersection Marking Tool without hassle
  • Road signs appears/disappears according to TM:PE lane connection and speed rules (with AN enabled only)
  • Road medians and markings appears/disappears at junctions according to traffic lights and TM:PE priority rules (with AN enabled only)
  • Option to change median style and even toggle off the median per segment (with AN enabled only)
  • Option to toggle sidewalk railings per segment (with AN enabled only)
  • Option to toggle off lane markings at junctions and per segment (with AN enabled only)

Limitations
  • Lane marking sometimes glitches when segment changes slope and angle at the same time
  • Railing texture is imperfect
  • Lane markings may appear unexpectedly in certain junction combinations (you can use AN to toggle it off)
  • Bus stops can be set in the fast lane on one-way roads

What’s next?

The below networks are in my plan:
  • 1-lane narrow road
  • 2-lane roads with parking
  • 3 to 6 lane one-way roads
  • Asymmetrical roads
  • Roads without sidewalks
  • Urban highways (if time allows)
  • All existing roads but with an alternative European road marking style (if time allows)
