Finally!

After a lot of research with the people of Moogles & Mods Discord server, to figure out how the hell do this game's version of Bink 2 videos work, I bring to you the first mod for upscaled cutscenes.

The reason behind the "modestly" on the name, it's because I didn't want to go overboard with the upscaling.
These cutscenes are not extra sharp, super colorful nor high fps. They're upscaled just enough for them to not be blocky and full of noise, as Square Enix launched them, but not edited enough to depart from the creators vision.

It sounds like it's not a lot, but you'll see the difference!

Remove the "()" around the "."

Instructions

Open your game folder
-- If you don't know how to:
-- Open Steam, right-click the game, select Manage, and then on Browse Local Files
Open the data folder
Create a copy of your movie.dat file elsewhere, you'll need it for a certain part
Paste and replace the downloaded movie.dat

Previous bug

If you downloaded the first release of this mod, please redownload!
It had a horrible bug that made the game crash on a certain scene on a ship.
This was fixed thanks to WhtSqurlPrnc, creator of Snooty A.I. Upscale Mod on Nexus. Thank you!

Final words

This is the SECOND release, and probably some videos will not work as intended. If that happens, please comment so I can fix them!

As this is the "modest" mod, cutscenes are at the original 15 fps. If you want the extra smoothness of 30 fps through AI interpolation, I can release a 30 fps version in the future. But let me spoil you this: 15 fps cutscenes look and feel better for this game, specially with all the lags the gameplay has.

Hey Fei Wong! The game has 6 languages (de, en, es, it, fr and jp) for the intro and ending cutscenes, all of them have been upscaled so nobody is left out.

And thanks everyone for your words!

I'm currently testing the 30 fps interpolated cutscenes to update this mod, so you can choose which one to use.
Been on talks with WhtSqurlPrnc (the creator of the other upscale mod that's on Nexus) to find a way to fix the two cutscenes that caused the bug on my first release with no avail, will keep you all updated about that.

If the language is other than english it changes the text from the opening to english or retains the user's language?

Okay, just checked and this isn't the one that's on Nexus. The opening text looks fine and unchanged. Great job on the vids! Much better than the originals. :)

Looks nice, but if it's the same mod as on Nexus, then the writing in the opening FMV is really smeared when that at least should not have been changed. I'll check and see if it is, but I hope that can be fixed if that's the case.

Hello. Or you can make a mod to make the game work smoothly. And then in some battles, in some locations, the game works disgusting! Square Enix made a disgusting remastering that even the videos were not made in HD and, in fact, did not make a smooth picture... The game is intermittent, the picture is torn in places. Although the counter stands at 60 frames
