DDR V2 - NVA - Air Forces (1974-1982)

This pack depicts the Uniforms of the Air Forces of the National People's Army from 1974-1981/2. Although the Luftstreitkräfte had already had convertible open collar uniforms since the 1950s, the wide-scale implementation of a shirt and tie was synchronized with the Army's 1974 uniform changes.

The Air Forces of the National People's Army (German: Luftstreitkräfte der Nationalen Volksarmee, or LSK), was the air branch of the National People's Army. Unlike its WW2 predecessor, the LSK was much more culturally aligned with the WW1-era "Army Air Corps" with their uniforms resembling that of the regular army with only differences in insignia. Members of the LSK were additionally styled "Soldat" rather than "Flieger" in the 1960s. Unlike other Warsaw Pact Air Forces, the Luftstreitkräfte was often equipped with the most modern equipment and fighters, as it had the duty of first response against any NATO air operations.
