How to upload EAW & FOC Mods to Steam Workshop

This guide will show you step by step how to upload your own Mod or Submods for EAW and FOC to the Workshop.

  1. Download Tool from here: EAW_Uploader_Tool[mega.nz]
  2. Open Link and click download!
  3. Copy or cut the tools zip file and find a home for it and extract the contents on your computer.
  4. Click into the eawuploader folder and double click on the uploader.exe to launch the uploader. (Note some people say must be opened as Administrator but I have had no issue opening it normal so if you have issues though try that.)
  5. Now fill out a main folder name for your mod right above the Create item Button. (This is not the title just the mods content folder so best to have no spaces for easy filling out.) Then click create Item.
  6. Close uploader and click into the WorkshopContent folder and your mods content folder should now be there as well as a .json file to edit. Edit the .json file with notepad and change the content folder to the name of your mods content folder.
  7. Now get the mod files and a preview image created and paste them both into the content folder.
  8. You may want to create a readme file in order to fill out the description section of the mod. In this file you can explain what the mod does and add useful notes that subscribes should know for example the Content ID so they can Launch the mod etc. I recommend writing in a readme first since the uploader tool is not very friendly with clicking away from it so you may be typing and if you need to copy paste something all the stuff you type there will disappear...
  9. To find your mods ID open the .json file and it should be right at top. These numbers are automatically generated so you can NOT just change them to whatever so keep it as is. I recommend at very least putting your ID in the description field.
  10. Once you have the mods files in the content folder now open the uploader.exe again.
  11. From here you can now fill in the preview image to do this type your content folder name\Yourimagetitle.Imageformat Ex: FOCWreckage&BodiesStayMod\BWSMFFOC.jpg Press enter and the preview image should appear on the left. If it doesn't check the spelling of your folder and image names.
  12. Now put in a tile for you mod
  13. Next open your readme file if you made one copy paste what you wrote into the description or just fill out what you want here. *Remember if you click away from the uploader all content with disappear you will have to start over so if you really need to step away and you have wrote out a bunch simply close the uploader first and I believe it will save what you wrote. But its best to write out everything on a notepad first so that way you can save etc.*
  14. Next fill out tags. Tags that can be used are found on the main workshop page of Gold pack under Game Type. Fill out what is appropriate for your mod.
  15. Lastly keep it private for now so you can test the mod first and click Submit!
  16. The mod should now be on the workshop under your name. So from the main Star Wars EAW gold pack page go to "Your Workshop Files" click "Your files" and click "files you've posted"
  17. Click on your mod and click subscribe! From here you can now put your mod launch code into the Steam properties of EAW and test your mod.
  18. Once you confirm it works now go back the the mods workshop page to finalize everything for public release.
  19. Add preview photos and videos by clicking the adding images & videos.
  20. Last min Description changes can be made here as well under Edit Title and Description.
  21. If others help make the mod you can add them here as well!
  22. You can also add Social media links.
  23. Next make sure if this requires FOC please add that in the Required DLC part.
  24. Also if this is a submod be sure to add the other mod to the Items required section.
  25. Lastly if you thing your mod is ready just click the Change Visibility and change it to public!
  26. Now if you every need to update the mod you will need to do so with the uploader.exe again. To do this first update the mod files in the content folder of the mod.
  27. Open the uploader.exe find the mod you wish to update and click on what mod you want to update.
  28. Please note that when you update the mod the Desciption will change you whatever you have in the uploader so if you made changes since first uploading please go to your mod on the workshop and copy the description and paste it into the uploader and from there make changes as needed.
  29. next add change notes and click submit!
  30. Thats it! Happy Mod creating!

I can't download the uploader as the webpage to it won't open. Is there another location it can be downloaded from?

If anyone runs into an upload problem, I solved mine by repeating Step 6 and uploading the same stuff under new folder names, json ID number. :steamthumbsup:

This is the github link of workshop, with build 10 as the newest version, newer to the one linked in EAW workshop guide page at least. Sometimes unknown problems will make the files unable to upload in old version, and the new updates fixed most of them according to my experience.

Also cool other uploaders you got any links to those? I have never had issues using this one though however code mods are not to big in size so its not that hard to upload.

Strange I have never had to open as an admin... but my user is already admin though so maybe that is why.

There are newer versions of mod uploader that is more stable and have a higher upload success rate, but they need to be manually set to upload mods for EAW.

Wow, this is a great guide!

Just one info I was missing: You have to launch the tool ALWAYS as administrator, otherwise you will neither get an Item ID, nor will the upload work.
