Many players have a hard time just getting through corners. That's why I made this handy primer for beginners!

Input control
If you're using a keyboard, you're always going to have a harder time than using a gamepad. Buggy Game is a simulator, which means you often want to add 'a bit of throttle' or 'a hint of steering' and that's just not really a thing on a keyboard.

For gamepad users who still have a hard time steering; I noticed that many (most?) people steer by simply moving the analog stick left and right (sounds logical, right?).

But personally, I find it way easier to control by keeping the stick fully forward, and then making a half arc left and right when steering.

This gives you a more grounded feel, you can exert more pressure which feels a lot more stable. Give it a try!
Driving & mindset
When in doubt about opponent movement or what corner lies ahead, just release the throttle a bit. This will move the weight of the car forward, giving you better steering response. It's perfectly okay to coast a bit while reorienting, if you still press the throttle slightly, you will hardly decelerate.

Sitting pretty behind Keanu
Be patient. Staying behind an opponent for a minute is totally fine. Wait until an opportunity arises to dive in besides them.

When you're almost out of health, just prioritize driving very carefully. It's okay to keep your position instead of push - simracing is about discipline and restraining yourself, more than sheer speed.

It's totally okay to not win every race. I'm the developer of the game and I finish around 3rd on average!

If you keep on dying during the campaign, there's no shame in enabling 'weenie mode' in the gameplay options, to enable retries. Well, a little shame, actually, but nobody has to know, right?

Good luck!

Ah cool, that's good to hear!

I see. Even though the game is punishing and has a steep learning curve, I wouldn't say it frustrates me as I don't intend to beat it straightaway or achieve something. Just playing for fun. And the gamepad rumble mimicking a running engine feels great too.

(and it also matters what car setup you choose btw; they are similarly fast, but maybe some are just not a good fit for your taste/style)

Keep in mind the AI by default are on super hard - they basically are almost flawless (but don't cheat). So I advise you to lower AI difficulty a bit in the gameplay settings!

Maybe I made the AI 'too good' but I kinda liked the challenge myself :P

Yes, I'm using a zoomed out camera. I'm mostly struggling with the controls. The car skids whenever I take corners, which is normal. Releasing the accelerator does help, but, as a result, my car slows down and my opponents overtake me. They generally take corners faster than me and manage to maintain a higher speed when turning.

Have you tried zooming out the camera? I added that functionality after writing this guide so it's not in there, but it can help seeing what corner is coming up. Or is it not so much a problem with that, but just with controlling the car? I hope practice can make it better!

Thanks, it's somewhat easier with the analogues, though the game is still hard as heck. I literally used to bump or crash into every single car or corner.

Thanks for sharing your experience Paceed! It's funny how that works :) I recognize what you are saying

One thing I will add is that, with the first car, I felt "pressure" to keep up with the rest, and thus I had to risk more on turns. When I unlocked the second car, which traded some handling for acceleration, I felt less of this pressure knowing that I could keep up (and pass!) on straights, meaning that I did not have to risk as much on turns. I'm not sure how much this helps, but its something I noticed in my first 30 min. of playing so far :p2cube::summer2019flag:
