How to earn Shift Points, District XP & Duty Stars

Patrol officers earn Shift Points during a shift by performing justified actions and by doing a good job. District XP (District Experience Points) are earned by successfully ending a shift. The amount of earned District XP depends on:

  • The amount of Shift Points players earned by doing their duty. For example, correctly issuing tickets, resolving motor vehicle accidents, and all other duties.
  • The amount of Conduct Points the player has left. The more Conduct Points a player loses during a shift, the less District XP they earn.
  • In each shift, you start with 100 Conduct Points. Whenever the officer breaks a law, Conduct Points are deducted. If a player, for example, has 80 out of 100 Conduct Points at the end of a shift, only 90% of the collected Shift Points are converted into Experience Points. You can calculate it this way: Losing 1 CP means 0,5% less XP.
  • Players receive a bonus on District XP when playing in single-player mode.
  • Players receive a bonus on District XP when clearing a neighborhood of high crime.

Once enough District XP is collected, players receive a Duty Star. Players are able to earn a set maximum amount of District XP in each city district.

Duty Stars are earned by achieving a certain amount of District XP. They are needed to unlock new tools, features, police cars, neighborhoods, and city districts. You can see how many Duty Stars you have in the Shift Selection Map, as well as what unlocks for different amounts of Duty Stars.

A note about the Duty Stars

In this district, you can earn a total of 10 Duty Stars. Once you have earned 7 Duty Stars, you will unlock the second district where you can continue unlocking new features connected to the second district.

However, any additional Duty Stars earned in the first district will carry over to the second district. This will help you in unlocking the third district, Brickston, faster.

Special case: Unlocking District 3

To unlock the third District, Brickston, you need a total of 14 earned Duty Stars. This number is calculated by adding together the earned Duty Stars in the first district and the earned Duty Stars in the second district.

Here are some examples for different scenarios:
Should you have earned 8 Duty Stars in the first district and 6 Duty Stars in the second district, you will have 14 Duty Stars in total and Brickston will be unlocked.

Should you have earned 7 Duty Stars in the first district and 7 Duty Stars in the second district, you will have 14 Duty Stars in total and Brickston will be unlocked.

Should you have earned all 10 Duty Stars in the first district and 4 Duty Stars in the second district, you will also have 14 Duty Stars in total and Brickston will be unlocked.

Special case: Unlocking Open Patrol

To unlock Open Patrol, you need a total of 16 earned Duty Stars. This number is calculated by adding together the earned Duty Stars in the first district and the earned Duty Stars in the second district - or even by adding together the earned Duty Stars from all three districts. You are not required to unlock the third district to choose Open Patrol.

Here are some examples for different scenarios:
Should you have earned 7 Duty Stars in the first district, 7 Duty Stars in the second district, and 2 in the third district, you will have 16 Duty Stars in total and Open Patrol will be unlocked.

Should you have earned all 10 Duty Stars in the first district and 6 Duty Stars in the second district, you will have 16 Duty Stars in total and Open Patrol will be unlocked.

Should you have earned 8 Duty Stars in the first district and 8 Duty Stars in the second district, you will also have 16 Duty Stars in total and Open Patrol will be unlocked.

Duty Stars 7 - 10

In this district, you can earn a total of 10 Duty Stars.

Once you have earned 7 Duty Stars, you will not unlock any new features within this district - unless you reach the requirement of 16 Duty Stars in total to unlock Open Patrol as has been described above.

@richardstrain1983 Several months late, but the vehicles all have some differences, such as how many evildoers you can load up into them and how many inventory slots they have to carry things like traffic cones, evidence markers, road flares, etc. Also, the pickup truck is my favorite accident scene vehicle because you can actually use the winch to "tow" totaled cars out of the way to open up lanes of traffic.
