I started with a clean game install. I don't think you have to, but if this doesn't work for you I'd try a clean install next.

Step 1: https://github.com/rebtd7/FF13Fix/releases

Under assets, click the top zip file (currently FF13Fix_164_.zip). Download this file.

Step 2: Go to your FFXIII folder and find the bin folder (FINAL FANTASY XIII\white_data\prog\win\bin).

Step 3: Open zip file, open folder, extract the 3 small files into bin (d3d9.dll, FF13Fix.ini, and FF13Fix_README).

DONE. Launch normally. Hope it works!



I've been going back and playing older games that didn't have great PC ports and having to fix them myself (with great guides). Each time, it's an amazingly long and in depth process that takes quite a bit of time and energy, which we don't always have. I do fully appreciate those guides when you have the time, but this is a good one for when you don't. Using my knowledge from prior guides, I wondered if I could simply apply this fix and it would run properly, and it did!

I've spent 3-4 hours in game, I'm around chapter 3, and I haven't had anymore noticeable frame drops or stutters. I started the game excited, and the frames quickly sent me back to sad. Hopefully this guide will be enough to make you turn your frown upside down.

I'm sure there's more in depth guides if you have the time and are ready to learn for an hour or so, but if you just want to start FFXIII right now and can't handle the PC Port's flaws, i hope this is a quick fix to get right back in the enjoyment (It's a great game so far)!
