This is a modern and lite version of the abandoned Telemetry Control (from 2015), but with no custom options.

This mod disables Paradox/Colossal Order telemetry. You probably already seen the PopsManager entries at Cities Skylines logs: there are the game telemetry.


Is the Telemetry harmful?
No, but it can cause some slowdown if your internet connection quality is low. You will experience a slight improvement in game performance enabling this mod.

They have a keylogger on it??
No. You can check it by using a decompiler (like dnSpy) and searching the PopsManager class. You will se the stuff sent is just navigation steps and other game milestones stuff.

The Paradox/CO used this telemetry for what stuff?
Remember when the Cities Skylines channel showed the statitics of game, like most used building and how much habitants all cities of the game have? Well, the Telemetry was the source of that data.


Other doubts can be added to this description later to clarify what this mod does.

KNOWN ISSUE: It may be incompatible with some font-changing mods, don't know why yet... May have a fix in the future.

DEPRECATED: Control It! has the same functionality, along with more settings. This mod is no longer maintained.

This mod probably also reduces lag.

FYI all of the telemetry data is likely sold to third parties as well.

@nhatanh0475: Telemetry IS harmful. It is collection of your private data that they like to hide inside the TOS so when you sue for theft of private data or whatever they can point to the TOS says you agreed to send them everything including the time you go to bathroom (/s)

Telemetry is a massive privacy concern and anyone who is concerned with the telemetry is actually a very smart person.

Just because they forced everyone into telemetry so they can play the game doesn't mean we have to accept it. We as consumers need to push back and encourage them to use OPT IN telemetry.

Had CO put the telemetry as optional instead of forcing it on everyone by means of TOS I am sure this kerfuffle with Chaos would not even exist.

I messed up. I installed the old one, and saved my game. Then realized it was succeeded by mods already installed so I unsubbed and removed. Then my save stopped loading but content manager shows that mod missing.

Question: Can I unsub it, sub to this, and my save game will still load? Or I specifically have to install the obsoleted one to be able to play my save? Thanks for updating this mod :)

If you mean anything you will notice, then no....
