Beskrivelse
Welcome to Manic's Mongol Portraits. Smaller than my other released portrait mods, this almost exclusively focuses on one culture (Mongol) with a small fix included for the Cuman female faces graphical bug.

I know it's barely been 48 hours since the release of my last portrait mod but, having recently returned to CK2 after a long hiatus, I'm currently in the middle of a high point when it comes to motivation to mod this wonderful game. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Contents
New Mongol portraits
  • Mongols now use a recoloured and sharpened version of the Bodpa faces and hairstyles/beards.

  • Mongols use a slightly modified set of Turkish clothing and headgear, adding a modified Bodpa imperial garb and new military outfit.

  • Mongol children use an altered Bodpa design. They use vanilla Mongol clothes, but these have been sharpened and resized to improve their image quality.

Fixed Cuman faces

Since it is so easy to fix, and Cumans are pretty much next door to the Mongols, I decided to throw it in as part of this mod since I don't have any intentions of messing with their portraits further.

For those who don't know, Cuman women have a weird graphical bug whereby their cheeks clip over the edges of their lips, resulting in them looking like they've just ingested a large quantity of concentrated lemon juice. This mod should fix that.

Taoist Court Chaplain map model

In vanilla, the Court Chaplain of a Taoist character uses the generic Western European Catholic priest model. This mod gives them the Buddhist monk model instead. While probably still rather inaccurate for the religion, I would assume it's better than a Catholic priest!

It should be noted that, regardless of whether your chaplain is male or female, it will show the female councillor model. This is because the male variant uses an Indian design so I thought it would be less fitting for a Chinese/East Asian religion. Councillor graphics are pretty low res anyway, you don't really spend your time looking at the details and, without hair and wearing a baggy robe, I think she looks passably androgynous.

Compatibility
This mod is so basic in its file structure that you'll be hard pressed to find any others that conflict with it. The general rule would be to avoid other portrait mods unless you're confident that they don't touch Mongol faces.

This mod is fully savegame and ironman compatible.

Alternate downloads
For those who experience issues with the Steam Workshop and want some alternate download options, a .zip version of this mod can be downloaded HERE[www.dropbox.com].

To install, simply remove the two items from the .zip folder and place them in your CK2 mod folder.

If you want to use all of my portrait mods but hate all the clutter in your launcher, I recommend using Manic's Portraits instead.

@grachewin - Wow, I'd never noticed that before. Probably because I've never played a Taoist character. Well, seeing as how the Taoist religion already uses a unique gfx, it won't alter the checksum if I assign them new models for their Court Chaplain.

As such, I've updated the mod and given Taoist priests the Buddhist monk model. I know it's probably still pretty inaccurate, but surely it's better than a Western European Catholic priest?

@Cat - What would give you that idea? I don't think I've come across a single portrait mod that doesn't require at least one DLC for it to work properly.

Besides, this mod vastly improves the Mongol portraits and it doesn't even require the Mongol Portraits DLC. I would consider that a win in my book

Thank you for your work! Do you consider making custom portraits for persians, hungarians and turks? I think that these would be the only portraits needing fixes after your mods.
