Accidentally ran into them on my first playthrough and got killed twice. Funnily enough, thought i died because i hadn't completed the tutorial yet and only have the 9mm pistol. Only realised their terrifying potential once i gave up after trying to charge through the mountains towards Ranger Station Foxtrot with antivenom and a flamer for an hour and a half.
