Mini Map - Locations & Numbered Area's
Please note this is map 70495

this is what i do depending on how im going to build my map

1 - leave

2 - beer & leather for main island (leather is sent to island 12 to backup leather production)

3 - coal main island

4 - wine

5 - leather and bears for island 9 if i build a population on it i send the bears to island 14 to make fur coats. if they isnt a population on island 9 i leave it alone

6 - use it to build materials on it if i populate island 9 if i dont i leave it and build mats on island 9 which i've found better since you can focus on mats, shipping and military

7 - linen, redmans candles and barrels if you need of them. send the barrels to island 4 to help support the wine production

8 - main island

9 - second population or mats, shipping and military. (regardless if i build a population or not i still produce all ships and military units from it)......

10 - AI island

11 - bread & salt for main island

12 - leather for main island

13 - Ai island

14 - fur coats for island 9 & cider for island 21. only if you populate island 9 if not i dont use it

15 - Ai island

16 - leather for island 21, beer for island 9 if its populated. bears for island 17

17 - linen, bread, beer, meat and fur coats for island 21. coats for island 8 as well. if i dont populate island 9 i build cider here to to free up island 14 for the ai

18 - almonds for island 20 & 25 dpending on how big a population your going for on the island if your going for 5250 then island 25 isnt needed for marizpan. if you going for 10000 envoys then you will need island 25 for the extra 1 marizpan sending almonds from island 18 to help support production.

19 - Ai nomad/envoy island

20 - Main nomad/envoy population (if i go against lucius then i leave this island alone and build a small nomad envoy island on 21 only) he hates envoys

21 - nomad/envoy island & either my 2nd or 3rd population of nobles. i produce spice for all islands here as well as books for island 9 if i populate it if i dont then i produce books just for this island alone and my main island as they is plenty of water slots. quartz for mosaics which is send to island 27 to support production this route is temp and can be deleted once you have completed all nomad envoy islands to max.

22 - Ai nomad/envoy island

23 - gold to be sent to island 24 to help support gold dresses

24 - carpet for island 20 if i populate it, gold dresses for main island. i also backup quartz and copper from this island to take it to island 26 to make glasses.

25 - marizpan for island 20, quartz and copper for to help support glasses production on island 26

26 - coffee for all islands. glasses all and books if i build 2 population of nobles on islands 9 & 21

27 - mosaic & perfume for island 20. i sometimes build a 3rd island of nomad/envoys here but depends on how nice i wish to be towards the Ai.

28 - leave it be

29 - carpet for islands 20 & 27, glass production and pearls neckless for island 20.

30 - leave it be

Please note that islands 8, 9, 20, 21 and 27 i personally use for populations to go onto. if i use all 5 i get around 50k population and more. if i dont use all 5 well i get around 40k depending on what im going for......

if im playing against lucius i only build a small population of nomad envoys which ill build on island 21. focus my main attention to my northern islands as he hates nomad envoy's. for everyone else your good to roll out on populations as much as you like.

Volcano Map (still using same map number)
So still using the same map as always here is what to do when picking the volcano version of the map.

More info to come soon i am currently working on this project and once completed i will have pictures and a video over going the islands of choice.

Also please bare in mind i change some stuff when playing against harder Ai like the cardinal.
Production Layouts
Soon to come

most of the production layouts ive never used only reason being is ive never really liked them and followed my own route. i found taking pictures of your own layouts and then keeping them for the next time you play always helps. the only production layout i use to be fair is the perfume and rose ones. only because of the field layouts. as for everything else watch my videos and you'll see for yourself just how easy it is to build

but for the guide i will add them and you can make your own minds up
Population Layouts
My City Layouts
This layout is the one i use on island 2 & 4 of my population settlements check mini map for details. (soon to come)

This Layout is for anyone wanting to play with damage on and also Sabotage.

Colour Keys -
Black - Base Of Operations
White - Medics
Yellow - Chapels - (Please note they is no road at the bottom of the chapel like they is if you build without these buildings).
Red - Carpenters
Green - Fire Stations

This Layout is for anyone not playing with damage and sabotage active.
Notice how they is a road on the bottom of the chapel where as the image above hasnt. its to make room for the base of operations without losing more housing.

Both images allows you for a population of
Nobels - 68 houses - 2720
Patricians - 104 - 2600 - with damage/sabotage. 112 - 2800 - without.
please note that you can only take patricians on this element to 112 anymore and you wont have enough stuff to keep it happy.
Citizens - 36 houses - 540.

you will need for this population all the way to the very end.
Fish - 14
Cider - 12
Linen - 8
Spice - 7
Bread - 8
Beer - 8
Leather - 4

My Map (70495)
Hi guys i always use the same map no matter what its a map that i have been playing for the last 2000 odd hours of game play so i know it well. so here im going to add in the area which i build and what to place on them. it will include pictures etc.
Brumbek unofficial Patch
You would think that after rewriting anno 1404 to create the history edition ubisoft might of used some brain power to fix the issues in the game or even better use brumbeks fixes and save themselves some time.

so brumbek got to work on updating his patch to make it work with anno 1404 history edition also

if you want the patch here is the link to it.....

https://anno1404.fandom.com/wiki/Unofficial_Anno_Patch

Please be aware this patch changes some of the requirements towards the quests that gain you achievements, more so with the AI and NPC's, so if it requires you to have citizens you can still get the quest even at having nobles. The patch doesnt hold you back from being able to upgrade to a new population like the normal game does its pretty much why i recommend using it.
Campaign Notes
I would highly recommend that you save your game as much as possible, if you miss a quest you can simply reload your saved file and start from where you left off. they are many side quests that can be missed along the way and its annoying to have to start all over again just because you missed one or two of them. also keep them tracked on a sheet of paper if you are doing this on hard and going for the golden ship.

i might have to write many of these in parts and break is down bit by bit as the sections of the guide will be limited by how many letters can be put in each section.
Chapter 1 - A Declaration Of Faith
Difficulty levels

Mission goal - Profession of Faith
Build a Chapel with at least 8 Peasant houses in its Influence area.
This is a short and simple chapter where you'll learn the basics of Anno 1404.

Important: At the end of the mission, do not build your chapel until you've finished all the other quest; building a chapel will end the mission.

The Emperor's Seal bearer
Click on Northburgh's Flagship below your new settlement.

The heart of the Settlement
Lord Northburgh grants you control over your own private island. He tells you to look at your marketplace. click on the marketplace.

Safe as Houses
Build three houses with road connections to the marketplace.

Among Crates and Shelves
Click on your Warehouse.

The essential Building material
Build two Lumberjack's huts and add roads to them connecting them to your warehouse. Ideally, these huts should always be built in open areas and have as few roads going through their area as possible. 3 road squares is enough for each one

War on hunger
Build two Fisherman's huts along the beach and connect them to islands your warehouse.

Helper in times of need
Purchase tools, Click on Northburgh's Small trading ship left of your warehouse, and click the check-mark in the upper-right dialogue box.

Note: This quest doesnt go towards your point counter so its safe to say you can skip this one if you want too.

Wood for the Imperial cathedral
Keep producing wood and Northburgh will ask you to complete the quest.

A floating gift
Click on the small trading ship with the arrow pointing at it right next to your warehouse.

With Sextant and Spy-glass I
click on your new ship then right-click the Flotsam floating just to the right of your ship. Your ship will sail over and automatically pick up the goods if you right-clicked directly on the Flotsam.

With Sextant and Spy-glass II
Sail back to your warehouse with your flotsam and add to it your warehouse on your island simply by clicking on the item.

Check the Storage
Lord Northburgh will then explain that a mining island needs ten tons of fish. In the warehouse inventory you should see wood, tools, and fish.

To work!
Left-click on the fish; this will load either 1t, 10t or all your fish onto your ship. select 10t and click fish to move the amount you need.

Fish on the table
look at your mini-map on the left bottom of your screen. Right-click the water just off the north coast of the southern island to send your ship there.

The missing Cargo
While your sailing your ship to deliver the fish, Lord Northburgh will tell you that he lost some cargo which is located in the water left of your island and the mining outpost. You will see three flashing red circles on the mini-map; that's where the cargo is. go pick up the cargo before heading to the smaller island to drop of the fish.

More Peasant houses
Build 6 more peasant houses around your marketplace. Be sure to connect them to the marketplace using roads, although this technically isn't necessary to fulfill this quest.

Note: now that you've built enough houses, you'll shortly be able to build the chapel. So it's possible to finish the chapter at this point. If you want to get all the Points possible by completing all quests, do not build the chapel. first complete the side quests.

A worthy outcome
Northburgh will take the fish and give you a capital stone which you must take and deliver to his main island, its east of your own island. Select the ship and right-click near his warehouse on the mini-map.

Averting danger
Lord Northburgh will also ask you to map reefs to the southwest and southeast. When doing so check your mini map for locations and send your ship they and wait for a message to say the island has been successfully mapped. Then head to the next island and map that. sail around and collect the cargo floating in the water then return to Lord Northburgh's warehouse.

Where is the Master builder?
This quest can be missed
The game doesn't tell you how to start the quest, all you need to do is click on the imperial cathedral foundation being built in Northburgh's city.

After clicking on the foundation, Lord Northburgh will tell you his master builder is drunk and has disappeared. He is asleep next to a big gold statue under some trees right across the street from build site.

Mission completion
Now that you've completed all the side-quests, build your chapel in your settlement. Notice the area of influence when you build it.

Note: You can also have the game automatically plant the fields for you by clicking the large "Cultivate" icon it looks like a water can. But i find you get more control when you place them your self.

Ready for collection
Now simply connect the Cider farm to the Market building by building a dirt road.

Finishing the quest: Supply the Crusader army
Load your ship with 15t Fish and 3t Cider and sail to Forcas to finish this quest.

A messenger from the War
Forcas asked you to deliver a letter to Marie D'Artois. Sail your ship to her island.

On your way there, Lord Northburgh will ask you to open the letter. Select your ship and left-click on the letter.

In new Garments
Forcas asks you to produce and deliver 5t Linen garments to him. He gives you a new ship to help with all his tasks. go to your warehouse and click on the ship nearby with the pointing arrow. We'll produce the Linen garments shortly, but first let's do the next quest.

The Ropeyard
To build a Ropeyard, you need at least 240 citizens in your settlement. you may need more so upgrade some houses until you reach it. Now try to build the Ropeyard.

Supply the Ropeyard
You'll finish this quest pretty fast all you need to do is wait for the ropeyard to get some hemp and produce some ropes

Finishing easy quest: Rope teams
sail a ship to Forcas with 3t of ropes onboard.

Monk sought
Forcas asks you to find Brother Hilarius. See the very next quest for how to do this.

Land seizure
When you sail close to the Monastery island, Northburgh will tell you to build a Warehouse on it. This will be the first time you've ever settled on a new island. Settling a new island requires you sail to the coast of an island and build a new warehouse, as Northburgh says.

Note: Building a warehouse requires 300 gold, 3t wood, and 2t tools, so save time by loading the wood & tools on your ship before hand.

Once there, simply select your ship and click the glowing Build Warehouse icon when near the coast. Now to complete Forcas's quest, just build a road to the gate of the monastery,

The Feast

Chapter 3 - Departure for the Promised Land Part 1
Difficulty levels

Mission goal: A Harbour for the Crusaders
Build a Harbour for the Crusader army in Port Sacral in the Southwest.

Building begins
Sail your ship to Port Sacral and build a warehouse there. Remember to take at least 3t wood and 2t tools to build the warehouse.

A stony matter
Stone is required for the harbour master's office which Forcas has asked you to build. The only stone deposits available to you on this map are on Hookburgh, to the Northwest. Send a ship there loaded with at least 2t wood and 2t tools and build a stonemason's hut.

The Transport ship
Northburgh tells you to build a transport ship to move goods between islands, but you will first need to complete the next quest.

The launch
To build the transport ship you will first need to build a small shipyard. This requires stone, which you will have to manually transport from Hookburgh to your main settlement. Transport at least 4t of stone. Once the shipyard is built, this quest is completed. Left-click the shipyard and select the small trading ship to begin its construction. Once the trading ship is built, "The Transport ship" quest is completed.

The important things
Set up a trade route for transferring goods between islands. You can access the trade route screen using F6 or by clicking the starburst icon in the bottom-right of the screen. Click "Create new Route" then "Add Warehouse" and select Falconstone. Then click the plus button to load +40 stone. Now click "Add Warehouse" and select Port Sacral (to complete quest - after switch to Cathedral city) then click the minus button to unload -40 stone. Lastly click "Add Ship" and select your new trading ship. Exit the trade route screen and your ship will automatically start following the trade route. You can also rename the trade route, which is very helpful in later chapters when you can have as many as 20 to 40 trade routes at once.

The Harbour master's office
Now that you have a trade route regularly delivering stone to your main island, load your flagship with at least 3t wood, 5t tools and 14t stone and sail to Port Sacral. Build a harbour master's office there to complete this quest. If you have enough materials, you can save yourself some traveling time by bringing along an additional 2t wood, 3t tools and 4t stone which you will need soon for the Provisions For A Thousand Men quest.

Cathedral construction delayed
This sidequest is easily missed and/or failed!
Richard needs stone, badly.

If you click on the cathedral construction site in Northburgh's settlement, he'll ask you for 5t stone. Deliver it and he rewards you with 5t rope. This quest is repeatable, and a quick way to get rope for an upcoming quest in which you build four small trading ships.

Provisions for a thousand men
Forcas wants you to expand the warehouse in Port Sacral to store supplies for the Crusade. This requires 2t wood, 3t tools and 4t stone. Click on the warehouse and then on the upgrade button (the icon of a building with a green up-arrow).

Doublets and Tunics
This sidequest is easily missed and/or failed!
Be very careful to read the instructions so you complete it!
To get this sidequest, click on Marie's d'Artois' warehouse in Inglebeck. She asks you for 10t linen garments to help clothe her knights. Deliver these to her before you begin building the 4 small storehouses for the Final Preparations quest or you will be unable to complete this quest. If you can, also bring along 40t wood for the quest she gives you immediately afterward.

High demand
This sidequest is easily missed and/or failed!
Be very careful to read the instructions so you complete it!
This quest should start right after you deliver the linen garments to Marie d'Artois. If it doesn't, click on her warehouse to get it. She asks you for 40t wood to help her build more ships. As in the previous quest, deliver this to her before you begin building the 4 small storehouses for the Final Preparations quest or you will be unable to complete this quest.

When you deliver the wood, Marie gives you the "Shipwright's hammer" which reduces the amount of building materials required to construct your ships by 50%. This is the first item you receive that can be plugged into sockets inside your warehouses. Take the hammer back to your main island and place it in your warehouse there so your shipyard can start benefiting from it.

Final preparations
Storehouses increase the number of goods you can store per island. You can check the total storage capacity of each island by clicking on the warehouse, a market building, or a harbour master's office. The number in the upper-right of the building window is how many tons of each item you can store. With the recent upgrade to its warehouse, Port Sacral can now store 50 tons of every type of good.

For this quest, transport enough wood, tools, and stone to be able to build 4 small storehouses. The total required is 16t wood, 16t tools, and a minimum of 4t stone (as with other harbour buildings, storehouses may require more stone depending on how far out into the harbour you wish them to extend). Build the storehouses now to complete the quest.

New mission goal: In the service of Guy Forcas
Help Guy Forcas equip the Crusader army. "The preparations for the Crusade are far from complete, and Guy Forcas still has numerous Quests for you. Follow his orders to the letter and help him prepare the main Crusader army for departure."

Bread and circuses
Build a tavern in your settlement. A tavern satisfies your citizens' need for Amusement, so build it so that its area of influence covers as many houses as possible. Needs are one of the most fundamental aspects of game-play. See the Needs page to learn more.

Treasure in the Mountain
Build an ore mine in Hookburgh. You will need 12t wood, 2t tools and 2t stone. If you are low on wood or tools, you can purchase them directly from Brother Hilarius. Your ore mine will also need a road connecting it to a storage building.

Hot Iron
Build an iron smelter near the iron mine. You will need 10t wood, 5t tools, and 2t stone. Position the smelter so that the iron mine is within its area of influence.

A fire in the Forge
You will also need to build a charcoal burner's hut (3t wood, 2t tools, 2t stone) in order for your iron smelter to fully process the iron ore into iron. Position the hut so that the iron smelter is within the hut's area of influence.

Naval maneuvers
Forcas orders you to build 4 small trading ships to expand his fleet. Build these at your shipyard. With the shipwright's hammer, you should have enough gold, wood, and rope to produce these (a total of 6000 gold, 32t wood, and 40t rope). If not, you can still click on the build button to queue up the ships and construction will begin when enough materials are available. You may also need to build a house or two to increase the maximum number of ships you're currently allowed.

When the ships are finished, sail them to Forcas' warehouse in Tuckingham.

Safety first
Marie d'Artois asks you to build a repair crane in the Port Sacral harbour to repair her damaged ship and to ensure her fleet is in the best possible condition before sailing to the Orient. You will need 1020 gold, 5t wood, 5t tools, and a minimum of 9t stone. Once the crane is built, Marie repairs her ship and sets sail. Northburgh recommends that you change your trade route to include delivering goods to Port Sacral as well.

Molten Iron
Your iron production should now be up and running on Hookburgh. When you have accumulated 10 tons of iron, deliver it Forcas in to Tuckingham.

Hammer and saw
Northburgh suggests you use the iron to build tools rather than have it sit idle. Build a workshop on Hookburgh.
Chapter 3 - Departure for the Promised Land Part 2
Population census
This sidequest is easily missed and/or failed!
Now that Marie has left, her city is vacant. Click on her warehouse on Inglebeck, and a citizen will talk to you which will start two optional sidequests.

For the first sidequest, simply go to your marketplace in Inglebeck and click on the "Inhabitants overview" tab.

A huge responsibility
This sidequest is easily missed and/or failed!
When Marie d'Artois departs with her fleet for the Orient, chaos begins to spread in Inglebeck. Most of the buildings soon collapse and the settlement becomes all but abandoned. This sidequest requires you to rebuild Inglebeck and to get 500 citizens (not just inhabitants) to move back in. Generally speaking, you will need to build about 15 more houses, a new church, a new tavern, a few more fisherman's huts, a couple cider plantations, a few more hemp plantations, and a weaver's hut. It can also help to demolish the ropeyard or at least to have it halt production.

Since your other settlements no longer require more tools or stone, you will want to alter your trade route(s) so that all your goods are delivered to Inglebeck. To redirect a route, you will have to remove your home port from the route and add the new city, then select the goods again. Unfortunately, you can't just simply change ports for an existing point on the route.

When you take control of this city by accepting this sidequest, your gold income may drop below zero. This is because you now own all the extra buildings on this island. Quickly build new peasant houses to increase your tax income.

After a short while of building new peasant houses, the houses should start to upgrade and your citizen population should start to increase. Keep checking the Inhabitant overview tab. The first screenshot below shows that currently 384 out of 435 citizens live in the settlement. This means another 65 houses need to upgrade to reach the goal of 500.

Forcas's strange ships
Check out the small island just south of Port Sacral. You'll see several coffin ships and, if you click on the building there, Forcas will warn you to keep out of matters that don't concern you. You'll find out more about this in the next chapter.

Involuntary service
Deliver 15t tools to Forcas's large warship in Port Sacral. This will end the chapter so make sure you've finished all the sidequests first.

Campaign Chapter 4 - The Lost Children Part 1
Difficulty levels

Mission goal: Missing children
Find all the missing children.

Out of the frying pan into the fire
Lord Northburgh wants you to begin the search for the missing children by speaking with the monks in the mountain monastery. Build a market building so that the monastery is within your area of influence then construct a road connecting the monastery with your settlement.

Repair work
Northburgh wants you to build a repair crane. This requires at least 355 citizens, so you will need to expand your settlement. Build at least 10 more houses, another fisherman's hut, another lumberjack's hut or two, a stone quarry or two, two cider farms, two hemp plantations, and a weaver's hut. You'll have to buy tools from Brother Hilarius to complete all of this construction, but in the next quest you'll begin producing your own.

Tools production
northburgh says you should set up your own tools production. You first need 240 citizens to build a tools production, so keep building houses until you reach this point.

Then build a charcoal burner's hut, an iron mine, an iron smelter, and two toolmaker's workshops in order to complete a proper tools production chain. You might need to purchase more tools from Brother Hilarius to do all this.

Repair work
Now that you've likely reached 355 citizens, build the repair crane to finish the earlier quest. You'll be given a item that enhances a ship, the "Studded planks." It's placed in your warehouse strongroom by default, where it does no good.

Remember from an earlier chapter that you can transfer the item to your Flagship. So move the item to your Flagship and it'll be put in one of the two item slots the ship has. Now you have +20% hit-points for your Flagship.

A first clue
Sail up northeast past your island to investigate the reefs.

Shipwreck
Pick up the child floating at the wreckage. Also pick up the crate floating nearby that happens to have tools in it.

Soaking wet children
Brother Hilarius wants to look after the children at his monastery. Sail back and move the children to your warehouse strongroom, and then Hilarius will take them.

A request for help
Northburgh asks you to contact the Oriental Grand Vizier. Sail your flagship over to his flagship right by your warehouse and accept the item Northburgh wants to give to the Vizier.

Tattered clothes
Brother Hilarius wants you to make 4t Linen garments available at your settlement to clothe the children. This quest might automatically prompt you to complete it if you previously built hemp plantations and a weaver's hut. If not, build a linen garments production chain now.

A diplomatic mission
Go sail south to visit the Orient and give the gift to the Grand Vizier.

Calamity on the high Sea
Al Zahir informs you that one of his ships is damaged. Deliver 3t rope to the broken ship at sea. You may need to build a ropemaker's workshop and an additional hemp plantation.

Zahir will now give you his Caravel ship.

A home for the children
Sail your new oriental Caravel ship back to your settlement, and unload the children to complete the quest.

The Road to Karim
Sail west and settle the island with Karim on it. Build a market building and road connection to meet Karim.

You scratch my back...
Karim wants you to build a oriental settlement with at least 145 nomads. To do this, build a bazaar (oriental version of the marketplace) and about 10 nomad houses.

You'll need to ship supplies from your main island to the new island (chiefly, wood). You can do this manually, or you can set up a trade route to ship a small amount of wood and tools to the settlement.

You will also need to acquaint yourself with the basic needs of nomads. All you initially need to provide is company and food. The Bazaar fulfills the company need, and dates fulfills the food need. Before supplying dates, a noria must be built, which is the subject of the next sidequest.

The Desert lives
Karim tells you a noria is required before any goods can be grown on desert. So build a small noria, which is a building that makes desert lands fertile for planting crops. Upon building it, this sidequest will complete and a new sidequest will start.

The Date plantation
When you build a small noria, Karim will ask you to build a date plantation as well. Build one or two of them and connect them to a market building.

Familiar surroundings
Once 145 Nomads move in to your Oriental settlement, Karim will trust you enough to hand over the children he found. Transfer the children from your oriental settlement strong room to a ship and sail them back to your main settlement where you will transfer them to your warehouse for Hilarius to pick up.

Tasty
Once your nomad settlement reaches 145 nomads, this quest will be given to you by Northburgh. He asked you to build a spice farm with over 50% productivity. Build it by the small noria you previously built.

Ascension of a Village
Northburgh wants you to expand your city so that the third class of occidental inhabitants will move in, the patricians. For this to happen all the citizen needs must be fulfilled. Click on any citizen's house, so see what needs remain unfulfilled. You'll see that food and amusement are not fully satisfied.

So build a tavern in the middle of your settlement to satisfy amusement, and set up a new trading route delivering spices from your oriental settlement to your home settlement to fully satisfy the food need.

A sign of trust
Al Zahir wishes to discuss an important matter now that he's starting to trust you. Sail any ship to Al Zahir's port to complete this quest. He'll give you a letter for the mine manager, which starts the next quest.

An important Messenger
Sail over with the letter and deliver it to complete the quest. You can read the letter before delivering it if you wish.

Children underground
The mine manager asks for 10t tools and 5t spices. Deliver these to him. Your main city should have the spices needed if you set up the spices trade route previously. The mine manager now gives you the children. You are also given a "Noble appreciation" item that you can give to Al Zahir to gain prestige, which in turn gains you oriental ranks, which opens up new building options.

Important: You'll need to give this "Noble appreciation" item to Al Zahir in order for Al Zahir to offer you the most difficult sidequest of this chapter, "Carpet trading." If you don't give him the item, this sidequest will never start and you'll miss it.

Free at Last!
Take the children to your warehouse for Brother Hilarius to pick up.

A crust of Bread
Hilarius asks for 10t of bread. Bread is a new good you can produce using patrician production buildings.

Fortunately, your main city has wheat fertility which is required to grow wheat for the bread. Build two crop farms, one mill, and one bakery to produce bread.

A bowl of Milk
Deliver 15t milk to Hilarius. What's hilarious is this quest is translated a "bowl" of milk...are the children animals who lick it up? But back on topic, this requires you build a goat farm or two in your oriental settlement. Do so now, then transport 15t to your occidental warehouse.

You'll probably need to deny access to milk for your nomads otherwise they'll lick it all up. Be sure to cancel the denial after you load up 15t.

In pursuit of the Corsairs
Sail your ship to the southwest and find the Corsair hideout. Then sail very close to the corsair ship with the exclamation mark, and click on it. Keep clicking if nothing happens.
Campaign Chapter 4 - The Lost Children Part 2
Self-defence
Northburgh realizes the Corsairs are going to put up a fight, so he wants you to build a weapon smithy. Note that a 100% efficient weapon smithy requires an entire iron production chain of its own (charcoal burner's hut, iron ore mine, iron smelter). So as the game suggests in the quest log, you can temporarily turn off your toolmaker's workshops in order to allow the weapon smithy to have the iron. Or you could build an entirely new iron production chain, but that's unnecessary.

Al Zahir's help
Al Zahir will help you fight the Corsairs, but first he needs weapons. Deliver 5t weapons to Al Zahir. He'll give you an "Infamous Boarding crew" item, which allows you to sail next to enemy ships and board and capture them as discussed in the following quest.

Prepare to board!
Sail the ship that has the boarding crew item that you got from the prior quest to the corsair ship. Left-click the boarding crew item and then left-click the corsair ship to begin boarding.

Safe and sound
Now sail the new corsair ship to your settlement and drop off the children, like you've done many times now.

Carpet trading
This sidequest is easily missed and/or failed!
Be very careful to read the instructions so you complete it!
Important: This quest will not be offered by Al Zahir unless you previously gave him the "Noble appreciation" item you got from the mine manager when completing the "Children underground" quest. If you haven't given this item to Al Zahir yet, do so now to open up this quest.

Al Zahir wants 3t carpets for which he'll give you an Oriental warship. In order to produce carpets you need 295 nomads and 100 prestige. You will already have that much prestige from giving Al Zahir the "Noble appreciation" item earlier.

As for more nomads, you'll need to build your oriental settlement again by placing around 8 new houses.

Once you reach the required 295 nomads, you can increase their taxes again, and now you'll need to build a silk plantation, indigo farm, and carpet workshop. You'll probably need to place another small noria to have room for the silk and indigo fields. Once you have the carpets being produced, load 3t up (possibly deny the nomads access to carpets very briefly) and sail to Al Zahir's port.

Explosion hazard
This sidequest is easily missed and/or failed!
Be very careful to read the instructions so you complete it!

Before continuing with the main quest, click on the mine manager's warehouse. Remember, he's on the island in the south-east. The mine manager tells you he'll give you a powder keg if you bring him 10t tools and 15t spices. Be sure you complete this quest before destroying the 4 corsair ships or this quest will fail!

You must collect 5 of the children before the mine manager will offer this quest.

Sea battle
Northburgh asks you to produce at least 2 small warships. This shouldn't be hard if you've kept your ropes and weapons production going. However, you might have hit your ship limit, which is based on your world-wide population. If so, you can either delete (Delete key by default) a few existing ships (the easiest method) or build more houses to increase your ship limit.

Act of reprisal
Take all your ships that can fight, such as your warships, stolen corsair ship, and flagship and destroy the corsair ships, using the powder keg or just regular ship attacks.

Saved!
Hassan ben Sahid gives up finally and agrees to release the children. Sail to his hideout and pick up the children.

Forget the terrible experience
Deliver the final group of children to Hilarius. The children will be on board whichever ship was closest to the Corsair warehouse when you accepted them. Once they are delivered, the chapter ends.

Video guide's
This is a request section where you can ask me to cover a video on a topic of choice about this game and ill add the video here once its complete.
Video Walkthrough
Okay so we are going to play a game together maybe that might be your first map or 10th makes no difference the whole point is to show you how to reach all the goals on one map and get a rather large population and also take out 3 AI's

Please note that i will be using map "70495" Huge to run this walkthrough. I would suggest to use the same map as we play along together.

This is what we are going to achieve goal wise....

1 - giving you an insight on how to reach a larger population
2 - keeping that population happy
3 - quests & achievements
4 - & much more
5 - 3 settlements of both envoys and nobles giving us over 10k in each 2 large settlements with monuments and 2 smaller settlements for both as well.

6 - you will need 58 small trading ships, 6 large trading ships,(at tthe end of building we will only keep 2) 15 large battleships of choice i like both so i split them in between. 10 large camps, 8 trebs and 8 cannons. 27 areas with 2 towers in each and 1 area with 4 which is normally where you make your ships..

stay tuned this starts this week at some point once i complete my next map im currently working on a few things achievement wise that i have been working towards for ages.
Game Walk through
Please note i am using map 70495 if you wish to follow the video and play along together use that map for your ease of play.

So what we are going to build is 6 settlements 3 nobles and 3 envoys populations. one island with 2 different populations on it with also 2 very large island populations one for each noble and envoy.

Images soon to come with how much population in each category and also how many buildings, as well as how much of one type of goods you will need for each population. im currently working on the images for this so bare with me.

The Golden Ship
Soon to come

The golden ship is a rather stunning ship but can be tricky to gain they is alot to do to get it and here is where i am going to explain to you how to get it done. but please be aware you will have to follow other parts of my guide but ill explain where to go as and when needed.
Cardinal Lucius - Quest Line
You may have noticed like me that some of his quest dont pop and you spend hours trying to get one of them to pop well i think what the text doesnt say is that he needs to be as big as what you are.

So rather than not giving him the largest piece of land isnt a good thing here it may as well be a good one. allow him to grow and become massive. so looking at the rest of my guide you will notice ive got pictures and etc for the map and here is my through on the idea.

Rather than using the biggest island in the north for your main island go for the largest in the south and build it or you could use the island he normally settles on and use that it has worked so far for me and ive got enough space to build 4000 nobles and more. you just have to import everything and show your skills in trade. i am currently in the process of planning this all out and testing the theory but i though id share it with you so you can try it too. so ill give you numbers to use for all of your items as long as you use the same map as me it might just work for you but please note these might change due to the mats or resources needed. im just giving you a rough idea start a map check them first and then restart after you plan your build.

this very may well get you the golden ship finally like i want too.

So to start with you need to force cardinal to take the largest island and not have any AI do so. so grab a ♥♥♥♥ and go to all the main islands that you can build settlements on ie cider with hemp and grab them. you want to force the other ai to settle to the little island on the left hand side. again ill provide numbers from my map which is below.

please note any ive put take on is for cardinal wait until he takes them from you and delete warehouse just dont let the other AI take them you want the cardinal to have them.
01 - take
02 - take
03 - take
04 - wine
05 - leather
06 - mats
07 - linen, candles
08 - cardinal island
09 - secondary settlement army ships etc etc
10 - AI
11 - bread, leather
12 - leather, beer
13 - Main settlement
14 - cider, linen, jackets
15 - cider, beer
16 - leather, meat
17 - take
18 - almond/sugar depending
19 - cardinal envoy settlement
20 - Main envoy settlement
21 - Secondary envoy settlement, third a citizen settlement, books, spice
22 - take
23 - may need for resources such as copper, quartz and gold
24 - carpet, gold dresses
25 - sugar/almonds
26 - books, coffee, glasses
27 - 3rd envoy settlement, resources such as gold copper and quartz
28 - may need for resources such as copper, quartz and gold
29 - take
30 - take

Step 1 - Grab Main islands & move quickly forcing cardinal to take the biggest plot of land while you take the other.

Step 2 - build a warehouse on the other northern island so the second Ai cant take them but cardinal can if he wants them. the ones you need i would surround the shore with warehouse so he cant.

Step 3 - Settle southern islands & start do the samething for the northern ones just making sure to protect the shores lines of the island you wish to build on. you need to to keep your secondary AI from building a nomad settlement.

Step 4 - lets start building your main island to the north and a small nomad in the south just to get you started. focus on your main island and building that up i used 2 other settlements on top one which is a smaller noble island & the other is going to be just citizens.

Step 5 - use the fleets from Both Richard & Al to help maintain a big enough fleet and upgrade using points. a trick i learnt along the way is to use the academy of wisdom to help boost your points by selling unwanted items.

Step 6 - complete 4 missions for cardinal and use what you can to keep him happy i used tornys and only doing quests for AI & richard do not do quest for AL or he becomes really unhappy.

Step 7 - get to 4000 nobles as fast as possible once they you want to build a gold mine and have pearls do not build an imperial catherdal you just need to be able to lay the foundation. trick if and when you get high enough for his main quest line and you dont get the quest you want just save before he grants a quest and use reload every time he doesnt grant the quest you want..

Good luck i really hope this helps get you that golden ship
How to defeat & get the upper hand on Ai
In this section we will over go the AI and how they all work.

Ai come in 3 different difficulties, easy, medium and hard,

Depending on whom you play against all depends on how easy of a time you will have against them. now i have an easy way of defeating them as long as you get a good heads start. Take alot of islands to keep them from being able to grow. Once your at a good level to attack take all they ships out and surround they main base. destroy all they fishing huts and starve them out this will in turn make them go into debt rather quickly and in the end they give up but be aware they do buy ships from certain ports so make sure to cover them too. i normally will have 4 ships at each port to stop them buying ships and if they do destroy them. use repair ship items on your ships for self repair and problem solved. they is also an achievement linked to the last 3 AI the hardest ones. where you have to defeat them 10 times over. i have a kinda cheat for that too just save your game before they give up and reload do that ten times and you'll have the achievement in no time. or you can do it the old fashioned way by sending military units to the island and destroying everything i normally tend to only attack the warehouses and place one down so they cant rebuild in the area and carry on until everything is gone.

more info on AI is based in they own requirements sections

they is however an amazing guide on combat already on steam so i dont see the point going over it again. so please head to the guides and look for it.
Achievement Section Notes
So ive placed some achievements in they own section, these achievements are ones where you need some requirements before a quest can be given. look for NPC achievements and the name of person your playing against for details. all of these achievements come from the diplomacy section. i have done the same thing with all of the hidden achievements in game and break them down into they 5 section in the achievement menu
Achievements - Diplomacy
Please note that some achievements do no appear in this section and ive placed them into Requirements section in the guide. This is because they are some requirements that need to be meet first. also hidden achievements has been moved to its own section as well covering all hidden achievements in one place.

This number will continue to be displayed in subsequent games until you exceed that amount in the current game, then the counter will resume. i suggest to get this achievement very early into starting your profile. if you have lots of game saves delete them and earn it in one game rather trying to earn it over lots of games. the counter will only allow it once and if you start a new map with an old one still active you will have to start the counter from the start again and build it until you reach the number you where already on before then and only then the counter carries on counting.
