Credits to cku773, I can't really add anything to what they already said so here's the copypasted text + screenshot, I hope more people get to see how this amazing thing works by posting this:

I started testing the second one out (the Destroyer epic traits hack is fairly common knowledge), and this is what I found:

-The captain should have a Dire Mount. (Ologs and deranged captains are thus excluded since they can't get mounts. Some captains, like the Sweet, Tasty, and the Knower, are considered deranged right out of the gate.)

-Shame him until he gets deranged. He should get a random epic trait to replace Dire Mount. (From what I can tell, a dire caragor mount renders a captain unable to become a Maniac.)

-Recruit him and give him another epic trait. This becomes his third (and replaceable) epic trait.

I haven't tested this on the Unashamed, or tried combining the two hacks to see what'll happen (although I have a hunch that they'll cancel each other out, and you'll be left with a max of three epic traits).
