Unofficial Patches for Kenshi

Description
The Unofficial Patches for Kenshi (UPK) is a compilation of published bugfixes and several QoL improvements into one mod that's easy to download and manage. The changes incorporated here either are my own, or were provided with permission from the original mod authors. Please check the Credits[www.nexusmods.com] for the names and links to what mods have been incorporated with author's permission and go give them a thumbs-up (here on Steam) or endorsement (on Nexus)! Some changes include the following:

The Unofficial Kenshi Patch
Slopeless (Nexus Version)[www.nexusmods.com]
Fixes provided by SCARaw (i.e. Calm Ambient Sound[www.nexusmods.com], Crab Tournament FIX[www.nexusmods.com], Limbs Icons Fix[www.nexusmods.com])
Fixes provided by Shidan (i.e. Shidan's Tweaks & Fixes [Fixes only])
GE0DZ's Tweaks[www.nexusmods.com] (my own contributions)
Grammar Paladin - Reupload (EN module only)
And much more...

If you want a complete breakdown of what's been changed, please read the Full Changelog[www.nexusmods.com] for more info. For assistance with any issues that may arise with using the UPK, please read the Compatibility and Troubleshooting[www.nexusmods.com] guide. You may also find more info in this mods comments section both here and on Steam. You can also reach out to me via Discord at any of the following servers:

IMPORTANT
As of Version 3.3 of the Unofficial Patches for Kenshi, the UPK has been split into two mods. Both mods work independently of each other, though in the future the EN module may require the Main module as a dependency:

Unofficial Patches for Kenshi (Main module, all bugfixes and Qol improvements, as well as grammar changes related to new items, research, etc.)
Unofficial Patches for Kenshi EN (English module, all vanilla grammar corrections to dialogue, names, descriptions, etc.)

The reason for this is because of how many grammar changes were incorporated with Grammar Paladin. Kenshi's player base ranges across the world, and I felt uncomfortable making changes that might result in non-English speaking players being unable to understand numerous dialogue changes. Modding at the end of the day is about trying to keep things new and fun for everyone, and I want to avoid doing something that could massively infringe on that goal. Therefore, going forward this is how the UPK will be structured:

Included in both modules
Any Dialogue changes that address bugs (i.e. Honest Big Grim - Quest Fix, Tinfist's WANTED poster reward and Skeleton repair bed cost typos)
All Dialogue Condition changes
All Dialogue Effect changes
All Dialogue trigger changes
Removed Dialogue changes
Removed Dialogue Condition changes
Removed Dialogue Effect changes
Removed Dialogue trigger changes
All current Dialogue Package changes
All current New Dialogue changes (i.e. Fixed Vanilla Raids and Recruit Ray by freeing him[www.nexusmods.com])

Included in UPK EN
Vanilla Dialogue grammar corrections
All Word Swap changes (including new word swaps such as any of the OPENER word swaps)
Vanilla Name corrections
Vanilla Description grammar corrections

Not included in UPK EN
New Items (i.e. Fishsticks, no way to split off item names/descriptions)
New Names (i.e. Composite Runners + Strings Fix, too reliant on core mod changes to split off on its own)
New Descriptions (i.e. Composite Runners + Strings Fix)

@Arby I can take a look. I vaguely remember the mod you're mentioning. From what I remember it was a game engine limitation, but I'm sure there are ways to curb how bad it gets over time.

Any chance you could look into the issue with escaped slave AI that results in them piling up at the entrance to cities? There was another mod that fixed this but it hasn't worked in some time, apparently.

Thank you very very much for the response, that's totally understandable!

@Melooo Thank you very much, I was thinking of trying that as well. I did manage to get the leveldata fix working for the fishing village. Should hopefully be posting that very soon.

Yeah FCS is quite versatile, it can also open interior.level and .zone files as well as .bod2 and most of what is stored in the savegame folders.
I'll get a look into the updated version to see if I can spot why your attempt of merging the Oven fix failed.

@Sugar & Spice I plan on releasing a new version once I fix everything in the UPK. Open Bar had a few compatibility issues I wanted to try and find workarounds for if possible.
Sugar & Spice 18 hours ago
Hey! What happened to that casino bar inventory mod? :(
GE0  [author] 19 hours ago
@Melooo Thanks for all the info! It'll take me a bit as I was unaware you could even do this in the FCS, but I'll see if I can identify where 2-FishingVillageEast-INGAME is listed and change it. Much appreciated!

After merging, return to the UPK leveldata.level.
In GAMESTATE_TOWN_INSTANCE_LIST, find "298-rebirth-INGAME" again, open it, and replace

"1222-gamedata.base"
with
"55650-rebirth.mod"

Lastly you rename back to 0 the merged entry "298-rebirth-INGAME-S5e" and can also delete every GAMESTATE_TOWN entry with "0 Ref", they just bloat the file for our bugfixing purposes.
You can also safely delete the temporary copy of rebirth/leveledata.level too.

And that’s it. The fix is now proper, and you won’t get duplicate towns from other mods that also attempt to solve this same bug.

I hope this guide isn’t too confusing xD
If you have any questions, feel free to DM me here or on Discord.

Now open the UPK leveldata.level in FCS (enable all columns for easier identification).

Go into GAMESTATE_TOWN_INSTANCE_LIST and delete both

2-FishingVillageEast-INGAME

and the greyed-out 298-rebirth-INGAME.

Now merge the fishing village entries from the copy of rebirth/leveldata.level you made earlier.

Search for your renamed "298-rebirth-INGAME-S5e" and checkmark it.

Expand GAMESTATE_TOWN_INSTANCE_LIST and find "298-rebirth-INGAME" and checkmark that as well.

Merge only those two entries.
