Terminology
Blitz is a word borrowed from german and got it's meaning from world war 2 strategy Blitzkrieg.
A Blitzkrieg is fought with impressive mobility which enables the troops to overwhelm the enemy's organization with a devastating series of lightning like strikes that's paralyzing command, often interrupting communication to and inteligence from the frontlines by moving the front towards the enemy before they can establish a way to react to further incursions.

In a short, single sentence: Waltzing down the enemy.

"Blitzing" as a term in videogames is used to describe when a player ignores enemys and goes straight for a mission critical target, either a location or NPC that has to be terminated or otherwise interacted with.

AoE - Area of Effect
Basics
  • Your target in the Blitz game mode is to raise the boxers on a pole by standing close to it.
  • The enemy team is trying to do the same.
  • Some flag game modes allow you to block capturing no matter the amount of enemys on the flag.
In blitz, you have to have an equal amount of team members inside the capture area as the enemy has, else their pressure is overwhelming you and you won't be able to interrupt.
  • On the flip side, until the enemy team has an equal amount of players in the area as your team, they will fail.
Do its and dont's
Do its
  • Wear down the enemy (taking pot shots when moving about), they will be easier to pick off when they are pressed to stay within the pole's effective area later
  • Pack supportive gear, juice and heal grenades as well as area of effect weapons (AoE launchers and shotgun style spreading guns) are god send when you're showered with angry stuff from an equaly angry enemy
  • On the same note, AoE weaponry is a literal pain for the enemy to deal with: Tesla against sticker mines and fire against players, even more so when they touch each other for lack of space
  • ALLWAYS support capturing, no matter how - best by using area healers while you approach
  • if you are not sure you can defend against an multi enemy assault while capturing you can try to fall back while making the enemy soak damage, but you have to one up them with an organized attack yourself
  • lure enemys away from the capture zone, some people are too intend on clearing enemys away

Don't do this
  • don't loiter around, this mode is lost in a flash (pun intended)
  • never forget the aim of this mode, you may roam while moving towards the flag, but chasing down every single enemy you see is no good
  • don't fraking snipe. This isn't call of duty or medal of honor, until you have a single hit overkill sniper you will not be able to break the enemy's capturing. Even if you do, their reshot cycle time is usually too damn high to do any good
  • for the same reason, don't use remote launchers. The time it takes for your missiles to do any decent amount of damage is better spend legging it and going for the flag yourself. You may wield a nuke, but it probably uses the slow propulsion and taking into account reloading you won't get more than one or two shots in against decent teams before they either hunted you down or captured the flag anyway. Don't forget remote launchers are especially suspectible to return fire and roamers guarding the capturing.
  • don't mind dieing. You will either way, so throw your survival instinct to the wind and charge in weapons blazing, it's the only way to break up capturing
Tips & sh...tuff
  • This should be pretty self explanatory, but the more people on the cap, the faster it charges
  • Executing a taunt in a flagzone boosts capture speed by 10%
  • High burn values (long durations) are a nightmare for defenders as fire spreads but often net you assists only (can stack up to an assist streak, tho)
  • Tesla, especially with flak missiles, can be used to throw up a missile defense
  • Despite what I have written before, a large magazine spooling minigun with short stock works as well as a bullet shield. It's called C.A.W.S. - Computerized Aireal Weapons Shield - and often used on Carriers. To neutralize missiles.... And drones.
