These drops will come to you after an average of 50 minutes has been spent on TF2. You do need to be actively playing the game too. So going AFK will not give you any new drops.

Note there is a limit. If you leave your game running for a estimate of 10 hours, you will stop getting drops. This limit reset every Thursday at approximately 00:00 (midnight) GMT. Any remaining time will be added to your next week. So if you only play TF2 for 8 hours this week, next week your limit is 12 hours as it brings the remaining 2 hours over. The max amount of time you can save up is roughly 20 hours per week.

They are random
