All augmentation canisters add one of two unchanging augmentations.

• Read the label before tossing it or saving it for the medbot to install!
  
• Be sure to save space for bioelectric cells.
  
• If you drain all your energy, you can't even use a flashlight, so conserve energy!
  
• You can find bioelectric cells in many buildings and from defeating MJ12 Commandos.
  
• For upgrade priorities, I would level up Regeneration, Power Recirculator.
  
• The rest really depend on whether you go combat or stealth-build.
  
• I also want to mention you can use your flashlight augment to distract enemies and mislead them

Ballistic Protection[deusex.wikia.com]
Helps reduce damage from vanilla weapons such as firearms (non-explosive), darts, batons and swords

Definitely useful if you have damage coming from many sides. Combine with Speed Enhancement, Power Recirc. and you're good for a getaway!

Reduces damage from EMP attacks

This item is handy but passable. With Power Recirc you can make it last against spiderbots. They can decimate your health if you're not careful!
Choose it if you want, but Ballistic Protection is better for general protection.

Invisibility from organic enemies (humans and monsters)

This item is clearly useful, but drains a lot of power unless you have Power Recirc. Also seems to deactivate when trying to use a weapon, while still draining energy.
Alternatively, save 1 slot in your inventory for the disposable cloak.

Provides invisibility from bots and security devices

Not bad to avoid bots, but you can just stock up on EMP grenades and invest in hacking skills. Accessing SOME computer terminals can allow you to power down bots!

Aggressive Defense System[deusex.wikia.com]
Destroys projectiles before they reach the player

Extremely useful against boss fights due to volume of things heading your way, or just the fact you can't dodge anything in a narrow corridor

Spy Drone[deusex.wikia.com]
Creates a controllable drone with disabling EMP attack

Moves too slow to maneuver from a safe place. Also drains bioelectric energy as long as you are still controlling it. Cool, but not very useful! Just look for EMP grenades and use them wisely.

Combat Strength[deusex.wikia.com]
Increases power of melee attacks based on upgrade level

Essential in combat-based speedruns. You can make a lot of quick strikes with this, especially combined with Power Recirc.
If you combine Riot Prod, Combat Strength and Low-Tech weapons skill upgrades, you may be able to knock out high-level enemies easier while still on a stealth run!

Microfibral Muscle[deusex.wikia.com]
Allows you to pick up heavy objects (normally can't interact with them)

Very handy for stealth runs, as you can create new paths while avoiding enemy-clogged areas. Switch off Microfibral Muscle while holding a heavy object right next to a wall. The game will glitch and allow you to still hold the item while not consuming bioelectric energy!

*Alternatively, you could activate the Speed Enhancement Augment and use its jump height boost to bypass obstacles and crate puzzles!

Speed Enhancement[deusex.wikia.com]
Increases movement speed and decreases falling damage

Essential for stealth runs, but so is the other leg augmentation. You can bypass enemies and hopefully if they did see you, they will soon forget you or simply not catch up!! Speed Enhancement also increases jump height.
Be sure to pick up a leg augment canister!

Run Silent[deusex.wikia.com]
Self-explanatory. Effectiveness increases with upgrade level.

Again, a must-have. Perhaps more specific to stealth runs, but useful in any case as you don't need to slow down to crouch to try and muffle your steps!

Vision Enhancement[deusex.wikia.com]
Can give Nightvision, InfraRed Vision and/or see-through-walls - based on level.

Can be handy for a quick-check activation to scan your surroundings. Obviously you will want to pick up one vision augment and this is the best one for tactical usage.

Targeting[deusex.wikia.com]
Increases accuracy of your attacks and shows the enemy's health bar.

This is arguably a better run and gun choice than vision enhancement. You don't have to worry as much about alerting enemies if you miss an attack because you probably won't miss your target!

Regeneration[deusex.wikia.com]
Replenishes health across your body.

Absolutely essential for anyone, especially when away from medbots. You might want to enter a radioactive area WITH damage, THEN activate Regeneration - as it deactivates on full health.

Energy Shield[deusex.wikia.com]
Protects you from some damage from elemental attacks such as fire, electricity and plasma clips.

Good for boss fights and special mission areas. Might want to have Ballistics Protection in addition for all-around protection, but there are other ways to avoid damage, like being able to run extremely fast and cloak while using Power Recirc.

Increases player safe duration underwater.

Good for a few particular areas, but in most cases you could funnel skill points into swimming and equip a rebreather + activate Power Recirc. Passable.

Helps protect against radiation and poisons.

Definitely useful for some areas, but like the Wiki says you can just funnel stat points into Environmental Training and equip a hazmat suit. Nice additional, but passable.

Power Recirculator[deusex.wikia.com]
Decreases bioelectric energy consumption of other augmentations.

Essential on any build, as I've mentioned many combos with it already. Please note this is not a passive ability. You can run your flashlight while on this, but it's almost pointless. Dramatically extends Regeneration and various cloaking abilities. May help you explore many areas on Aqualung before blacking out. Be sure to equip bioelectric cells in case you still run out of power!

Synthetic Heart[deusex.wikia.com]
Temporarily upgrades another active augmentation to the next level only to a maximum allowed

Probably best used with quickstrikes and other things you might activate during a boss fight or tactical scan. Synthetic Heart's energy consumption is high, so be careful what you activate it with! It'll probably get you past whatever obstacle you need to pass!
