Fallout 3 GOTY instant crash fix

If my other crash fix isnt working you can try this one.
Open your File Explorer and follow this path:
This pc -> Documents -> My Games -> Fallout3
And then delete all the .ini files and also the RendererInfo.text file.
Then you can start your Fallout 3 again and it should work

setting both the launcher and the game files to run as admin + xp service pack 3 fixed it for me

I tried this, after the other fix you posted, didn't work, decided to go a step further and deleted everything in that folder, game runs now, everything that was in that folder got replaced on game launch

Vouch for Faffer's comment from Apr 18 - I'm using a 4060. I tried both of the OP solutions but the mod did the trick.

Not sure if it was just this portion or if it was this plus the first set of instructions but it's working now! Thank you very much! Spent days trying all the old "fixes" until finally finding these

To anyone that is still having these problems. Follow his instructions and then follow the link at the bottom. Download the file and open. Save the .ini file to This PC -> Documents -> My Games -> Fallout3

Then open up the main Fallout 3 file under Program File x86 and save the other file there.

These will trick the game into thinking that you have whatever graphics card makes it happy.

I can confirm the fix that Faffer linked to below works - copied the intel fix files in and could then start a new game using a 6650xt
