Introduction
So you just got Quantum Break, or you unlocked a new type. How in the world you you select the mode you want in battle? You press "q" and it seems to activate randomly. Well, there is a trick that took me a few times to figure out. You may have checked the "Help" tab in-game, but there seems to be no information on this subject, just basic descriptions on the different modes. How in the world do you use this obscure upgrade? This guide is here for you.
The Process
In order to select a certain Quantum Break mode you have to press the "w-a-s-d" keys depending on which mode you want a short time after pressing "q" to start up the Quantum Break. You can also move the mouse in the direction of the move you would like selected, but this can be more unpredictable and may end up activating the wrong mode. Take this into account when choosing which method is better for you, and if one doesn't work, you might want to try the other. As you can see in the picture, in the middle bottom it says Quantum Break "Enhanced Mode" is the one about to be activated. This means that in about one second, I will activate "Enhanced Form." The way I would select other modes is by pressing the "w-a-s-d" keys in the direction of the mode I want to activate. If I wanted to activate "Devastate Form" for example, I would press the "w" key. This in turn will cause that mode to highlight, kind of like the one selected right now.
Unlocking New Modes
Now that you know how to use the basic parts of Quantum Break, you might want to get into the more advanced forms that you have to unlock. These forms can be unlocked in the architect section of development in the far right. As you can see in the picture below, there are three nodes in a line horizontally. These three nodes are the nodes used to unlock the next forms of Quantum Break. The one I have selected now in the picture is the node used to unlock the Armored Form. From left to right the nodes unlock the Accelerate Form, the Devastate Form, and the Armored Form. They should specify which unlocks what when you hover over them as well.

Accelerate Form has improved acceleration and fuel usage, but not as much benefit to other systems. This form is good for flitting around the battle and quickly going in and striking at enemies when their guard is down. The Devastate Form is a power machine with extra focus on damage, but no benefits to speed or survivability. Armored Form is very focused on shield and armor support with shield recharge vamping up considerably as well as probably some benefit to armor strength (untested), but no benefit to other systems such as speed or damage. Each mode has benefits and downsides, so pick and choose based on what works for you. Maybe use the Devastate Mode for extra damage on a mech that is more focused on survivability to compensate for normal lack of attack power. Experiment! Learn! Adapt!
Conclusion
Now that you know how to activate the different forms that you may have, go forth and conquer!
I can practically feel the quarks shaking in their... Feet?
Boots? Whatever, go!

Yes indeed. Just above the node you used to unlock Enhanced Form should be three other nodes. These three unlock the three other Forms. If it doesn't say which they unlock if you hover over them and you're looking for a specific one, the right one unlocks the Armored Form, the middle one unlocks the Devastate Form, and the left one unlocks the Accelerate Form. I hope this helps!

Do you have to unlock the other 3 forms? Because I still just have Enhanced Form. Do you have to go deeper into the tree to unlock the others, because it doesn't say that anywhere.

Same. Quite often though the game won't read mouse control and will end up choosing a different one on me. So it can be incredibly unpredictable. doesn't mean it's unusable. just might have.. differing experiences.

@Enter the Domain I haven't had any issues using the mouse. Works every time for meand i honestly think it is faster but of course many factors can come in to play on it as well. I.E. processing speed of ones computer, refresh rate, fps, ect. i was only throwing it out there for information and in the end it comes down to ones pref.

using mouse is incredibly unpredictable and may just be ignored, suggest not doing it that way.

You can also just move your mouse in the direction of the mode you want. It’s a lot faster to do this as well.
