Starting the Game
Parcheesi is a 2-4 player game. If you have two players, sit opposite of each other. If three or more players, pick any color to play as.

The game begins by each player rolling one die once. Whoever gets the highest number goes first, and play continues counterclockwise after the first player.

For example, if the Green Player rolls the highest, they go first, and turns are as follows:

Entering the Board

Before a player can move his pieces around the board he/she must enter them on the blue space at the left of his/her corner.

To do this, the player must roll a 5 on either one die or the total of two dice. (Example: 5 on one die and any number on the other die or such a combination as 3 and 2, 4 and 1, etc.) If the player rolls two 5's he/she may enter two pieces and have another throw (see "Rolling Doubles"). If the player rolls a 5 and some other number he/she may enter a piece and move that same piece or another piece already on the board in a counterclockwise direction in the amount of spaces the other die indicates.

All players roll both dice each turn, whether they enter a piece or not.
Movement of Pieces
On a player's turn, that player moves their piece(s) according to the throw of the two dice aorund the board to the blue space directly in front ot them and then up the red path to the center of the board.

You do not have to reach the blue space in front of you by the exact amount.

The Home square in the center counts as the last space and must be reached by the exact amount of one die or the total of the two dice.

A player can move one piece on each die or he/she can combine the dice to move one piece the total of the two dice. A player cannot split one die to move two pieces.
Capturing Pieces
At any time in the game when a player can land one of his/her pieces by exact count on a white space occupied by a single piece of one of his/her opponents, he/she captures that piece and sends it back to its opponent's starting corner.

Red rolls a 4 on one die or the total of both dice:
Red then captures the Yellow piece:

A player whose piece is captured must enter it onto the board all over again, just like at the start of the game.
Safety Spaces (Blue Spaces)
All blue spaces are safety spaces and a piece resting on one of them cannot be captured or set back. No two pieces of different colors may rest on safety spaces at the same time but pieces may pass counting the blue space in passing. Of course no piece can be captured on a Red Path space because no player can move his/her pieces into an opponent's Red Path.
Blockades
If a player can bring two of his/her pieces together on one space (white or blue) these two pieces form a blockade and neither the player nor any other players can pass it or stop on it.

However, a player must move when he/she can. If the player cannot move any other pieces on his/her turn besides the blockading pieces, he/she must move the blockading pieces.

If a player cannot move because of a blockade or some other reason, he/she loses his/her turn.
Rolling Doubles
If a player rolls doubles, he/she has another turn and continues to have another turn as long as he/she keeps rolling doubles. You do not get another turn if you cannot complete the total move on the dice rolled.
Winning the Game
The player who first gets all four of his/her pieces safely around the board and up the Red Path into the Home square wins.
Partner Parcheesi
Partner Parcheesi is a team based version of Parcheesi.

When four play, opposite players may act as partners. Rules are the same as in the regular game except that two partner's pieces may form a Blockade together. Partners cannot move on the throw of each other's dice.
