"When Cities Skylines 2 comes, I am hoping building straight - as in leveled - roads and tracks will be easily possible - emphasis on easily.

Even when they do come leveled, these straight roads and tracks have ugly tunnels that look nowhere as a "mountain"/"sloped" tunnel, and have to be hidden with entrance props...

Comparison with Transport Fever 2."

Yes, but if you care about management, I think your post is a great idea for CS2!

Yes, I use Building Anarchy, I think Path Snapping is similar in function.

I use the No Notification mod as well, one of the best mods in game, these notification icons are so ugly and you cannot even hide it by default...

So you are just townscaping basically, going for the visuals only?

I use Feature: path snapping mod to build buildings without the need for road connection. And you can use No Problem Notifications mod to ignore further building complains

Everything in CS is road-based though. Even placing buildings require you to place roads first...

CS roads suck. This is why I gave up building roads. But what I learned from building a city with 'zero roads' is that it's SO MUCH EASIER. No roads, no cars, no citizens to manage. Now I can just relax and have a great time modeling my city. And you can still make beautiful looking cities even with no roads:steamhappy:

This post concerns specifically building on mountains and slopes. Default CS behavior is terrible, and usually requires a combination of Anarchy and Move It to achieve decent results. This is not required in TpF 2. And that does not even include the fact that tunnel entrances look terrible in CS...

Even in general terms, road and rail building is much more pleasing in TpF 2. Usually you will not require mods to achieve desired results, thanks to how flexible building already is. I agree Move It enables very minute and precise results. But that takes a lot of time.

Vanilla TpF 2 behavior is offers a decent amount of precision without the need for mods AND very quick results - usually it takes me 2x-10x the amount of time required to build a specific network in CS over TpF 2. And there is a recently released Anarchy mod in TpF 2, which bridges the gap if more minute results are required.

The only true advantage of CS road/rail building is the copy and paste function of Mod It.

I like CS network building more. Both systems are better or worse in different cases. TF system is better for vanilla gameplay because you just drag and drop and you have a perfect strait line. But for detailing is CS system better, with mods you can do anything with the network. You have more freedom with the CS system.
