About uncapping your frames

First thing, from my experience, I do recommend doing this because 60 isn't that good and it affects your gameplay mainly. If you have a 60hz monitor you could uncap it but it won't make a really great difference, just a bit.

I don't recommend uncapping the fps more than 144, than I do, because your GPU could get high temperatures.

For now, we will uncap the frames to 144 maximum, the game might show 120 maximum, I currently downgraded to a 1050 because is enough for me and I don't know if this is how much 1050 could make.

My 1050 gets around 60°C which is pretty decent. If you have a bigger GPU and a monitor that has more than 144hz, You could try and change the MaxSmoothedFrameRate= that I will show you later in this guide to your actual monitor refresh rate, but from my opinion, 144 is enough

Going to the directory
You can go to the directory by pressing the start button

Type %localappdata% , then press enter

After that, look for the DeadByDaylight folder

Open it, then go here:
Saved > Config > WindowsNoEditor

It should look like this

Now open the file called Engine

If it asks you for a program to open it, you can use notepad, we won't do too much in here.

The file you opened should look like this:

Now You need to scroll all the way down.
The code
This is the code that you need to copy, make sure you don't copy with any spaces or letters if you want it to work!

[/script/engine.engine]
bSmoothFrameRate=false
MinSmoothedFrameRate=5
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=144
bUseVSync=false
Pasting the code
Go right after the text that contains DDosDetection... and paste the code that you just copied, it should look EXACTLY like this:

IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING WITH DDosDetection, leave a free line and then paste the code, I will attach a screenshot!

If You haven't pasted like I have it, make sure you do it the same!

After you paste it and everything looks good, don't forget to save it using CTRL + S on your keyboard, then close this text file
Turn VSync OFF
In order to turn the VSync setting OFF, you need to open the other file called GameUserSettings

After you opened it, look inside this text file for something called bUseVSync=

Yours should be bUseVSync=True, by DEFAULT, the game comes with VSync turned ON.

You need to type bUseVSync=False, exactly like I did here:

Now all you need to do is to press CTRL + S to save the text file, make sure you don't forget about that!

Now you could close everything you opened with me and you could play Dead by Daylight.
Thanks!
I hope this guide helped you, let me know in the comments if it did, It should.

I used this for around 2 years and everything is good.

You can't get banned for doing this, is totally safe since it has nothing in common with anti cheat, modifying other files, icons or files of the game.
Modifying the engine file with a fps uncap script is TOTALLY safe and me, as a programmer I'll never worry about it.

Thanks for checking my guide, If you like what I do, like it and let me know what else should I make!

Now the config is in another folder, WindowsClient. So the full path to paste into Explorer or in Win+R is now:
%localappdata%\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Config\WindowsClient

You can also paste the full path into the search field in the "Go to directory" section: %localappdata%\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

The game is capped at 120 from unreal engine, 60hz is not playable for me but 120 is really good

Yes! Thanks a lot for letting me know! I'm using a 2070 super. It was like a year ago when I could play dbd with 144hz but now it doesn't let me do so!
