Introduction
Borderlands 2 follows the story of four new Vault Hunters as they fight to free Pandora from the clutches of Handsome Jack, the brilliant, charismatic, and utterly despicable CEO of the Hyperion Corporation. Even without playing the original game, you can play Borderlands 2 and understand what the story is about, since the game does a good job of explaining plot to you as much as possible.

  • Estimated achievement difficulty: 6/10

  • Many thanks to Nozza x360a, PowerPyx, Scotty, StayOnTarget, Kille and their info on Xbox Achievements[www.xboxachievements.com] for making this guide possible!

Part 1: Play as Zero through Normal and TVHM
I recommend choosing Zero as your main character in order to achieve his character achievement easier. Play until you reach level 50 then complete all missions on one difficulty. Complete all the DLCs as well then focus on particular challenges in order to achieve the "Challenge Accepted" achievement. Most of the challenges should be unlocked through natural progression but you will need to focus on others that are more tedious. You should also try and play co-op to unlock 1 challenge and the "Friendship Rules" achievement.
Part 2: Complete the other characters' achievement
You will then need to complete the other characters' achievement by playing with each one. You will be able to unlock Salvador's achievement at level 25, while Axton and Maya can just farm enemies with their action skills.
Part 3: Finish up the miscellaneous tasks
Finally, come back to your main character and pick up any other achievements that you might be missing. If you require any help with the online achievements, feel free to message/add me and I will do my best to help you. Happy hunting!

Capped Out...For Now

  • In order to level up you will need to kill enemies and complete missions. You will need to complete the game twice, once on Normal mode to reach the mid-late 30's (enemies in your first playthrough will peak at this level) and once on True Vault Hunter Mode (New Game+) to continue to level up beyond that. Don't be fooled by this achievement, level 50 is not the maximum level you can achieve.

Sugar Daddy

  • You'll get money from completing main/side missions, killing enemies and completing challenges. Moxxi can be found in Sanctuary at her bar. You'll notice that she has a glass jar on the front desk where you can "Insert Your Tips". You can either give Moxxi a $100 tip or a $1,000. GIve her $10,000 and this achievement should unlock.
Decked Out

  • All of the equipable weapons and items in Borderlands are colour coded. White is the lowest quality, while Orange is the highest (excluding Pearlescent and weapons from the DLCs). Purple, which you need for this achievement is the second highest quality gear in the game. For this achievement, you need to have a Purple or rarer piece of gear in each slot. That means a purple or rarer weapon in all 4 weapon slots, class mod, relic, shield, and grenade mod. All of these will most likely be found with natural exploration and looting, but you might have to farm a bit for a purple class mod. I suggest buying that as the item of the day at one of the vending machines to speed up this progress. You can also try playing the slots to find the purple items, however this will take a bit of effort. If you're having trouble finding Purple rated gear, consider adding me for help.
Sabre Rattler

  • The Sabre Turret is the action skill of Axton, the Commando. You need to reach level 5 in order to unlock it and you can start to use it immediately to kill your enemies. You can shoot enemies until they have but a small amount of health left, then use the action skill for an easy kill.
Phased and Confused

  • The Phaselock is the action skill of Maya, the Siren. You need to reach level 5 in order to unlock it and you can start to use it immediately to stun your enemies. You just need to use the skill on the enemies, not kill them.
So Much Blood!

  • To obtain this achievement you'll first need to be playing as Salvador and have reached level 5, as Gunzerking is his unique Action Skill. Now that you're playing as him, there's a few Skills you're going to have to buy from your Skill Trees before you can stay in Gunzerking mode for 90 second, so this will take some levelling to reach them.
Below are the Skills you need to purchase:

Rampage Skill Tree
  • Last Longer: Increases the Gunzerking duration.
Required Level: 10
Skill Tier: 2
Skill Upgrade: 5/5

  • Yippie Ki Yay: Increases the duration of dual-wielding every time an enemy is killed while Gunzerking.
Required Level: 20
Skill Tier: 4
Upgrade: 5/5

  • Now that you have them, you're good to go for 90 seconds. All you need now is enough enemies to keep it going. This is easier to get playing solo because then you don't have to worry about other people stealing much need kills.
Unseen Predator

  • To obtain this achievement you'll first need to be playing as Zer0 and have reached level 5, as being in Decepti0n is his unique Action Skill. Now that you're playing as him, there's one Skill you're going to have to buy from your Skill Tree before you can make it last for 10 seconds or more, so this will take some levelling to reach it.
Below is the Skill you'll have to purchase:

Bloodshed Skill Tree
  • Many Must Fall: Killing an enemy with a melee attack while Decepti0n is active, causes you to deploy another holographic decoy, re-stealth, and add time to Decepti0ns duration. This can be done multiple times in succession.
Required Level: 30
Skill Tier: 6
Skill Upgrade: 1/1

There's also a few optional Skills worth buying that may help:

  • Killing Bl0w: Massively increase melee damage against enemies with low health.
Required Level: 5
Skill Tier: 1
Skill Upgrade: 5/5

  • Iron Hand: Increase your melee damage and maximum health.
Required Level: 5
Skill Tier: 1
Skill Upgrade: 5/5

  • F0ll0wthr0ugh: Kill Skill. Killing an enemy increases your movement speed, melee damage and gun damage for a few seconds
Required Level: 15
Skill Tier: 3
Skill Upgrade: 5/5

  • Execute: Melee Override Skill. While Decepti0n is active and a target is under your crosshairs, dash forward a distance and preform a special melee attack, dealing massive damage.
Required Level: 15
Skill Tier: 3
Skill Upgrade: 1/1

  • Backstab: Your melee attacks deal bonus melee damage when hitting an enemy in the back.
Required Level: 15
Skill Tier: 3
Skill Upgrade: 5/5

  • Like the Wind: While moving you gain increased melee damage and gun damage.
Required Level: 25
Skill Tier: 5
Skill Upgrade: 5/5

  • Now that you have that, you're good to go for 10 seconds. All you need now is enough enemies to keep it going. This is easier to get playing solo because then you don't have to worry about other people stealing much need kills.
Bounty Hunter

  • See "Did It All" achievement section.
Well, That Was Easy

  • Secret Achievement. This is a side mission you'll pick up in the Thousand Cuts area. On your way to the Buzzard Factory you should notice the guy on the cliff edge with a quest above his head. Find your way down to him and he'll offer you the "Shoot This Guy In The Face" side mission. The achievement should unlock after completion.

Thresher Thrashed

  • Secret Achievement. You'll first encounter Terramorphous the Invincible at the end of your 1st playthrough when the mission "You. Will. Die. (Seriously)" will become available from Tannis after you've defeated the last boss and the credits have finished. He will be located at Terramorphous Peak in the Thousand Cuts area and he's not an easy boss. To have any chance of beating him, you'll need to be at least level 50. As well as that, you may need 3 other players on your team who are matched the same in level/stats. It's also best to have one of each character in some situations, because of certain Skills working best off each other. One thing you'll have to make sure you don't do is let everyone die. If everyone in the arena fighting Terramorphous dies, his health will be reset back to 100%. Plus every time you want to fight him and enter his lair, it'll cost you 8 Eridium. Other than that, good luck.
Went Five Rounds

  • The Circle of Slaughters can be located in either the Ore Chasm or The Fridge areas. Once a single round is complete, you can head back to the quest giver to hand that round in and gain some XP/Cash as well as restock on things. Trying to do this solo can be a little tricky, but the Circle of Slaughter in The Fringe is a a little easier because the levels are set lower.
Did It All

  • Side missions will come through natural progression of the game and you'll also find a few just by meeting new people around Pandora, key items or bounty boards. For a full list of all the side missions, please see below:

Token Gesture

  • This achievement is linked to your characters Badass Rank. These ranks are gained by completing various challenges available to you throughout the game. Upon completing enough, you'll be given a new Badass Token which you can then put towards a new Badass skill. There's no limit on how many Tokens you can receive and Badass Ranks you can gain, so all you need to do is obtain and redeem 25 Tokens. To use a Token or see how close you are to the next Badass Rank, open your ECHO Device and tab across to the Badass Rank/Challenges page.
Feels Like The First Time

  • Secret Achievement. Fyrestone is in the northern section of the Arid Nexus - Badlands area. First you'll need to head to the red building to the north west of the town. Now, simply jump up the building and onto the roof to find the chest. Simply open it to get some nice loot and the achievement will unlock.
Tribute To A Vault Hunter

  • Michael can be found in Sanctuary. His location changes randomly, so you'll have to do a bit of searching. All you need to do is simple talk to him and he'll hand you a weapon. Once you've accepted it, the achievement will unlock.
Friendship Rules

  • Pretty self-explanatory. Just play the game co-op with someone from your Steam's Friends list and revive them when they die. The achievement should unlock right after.
High-Flying Hurler

  • Tediore weapons have a special ability that each time you reload, your character will automatically throw the weapon wherever you're currently aiming. Doing so and hitting any enemy with it, will cause a small amount of damage. So with that in mind, you'll first need to find/purchase a Tediore weapon, have it equip and then you'll need to search for any flying enemy. Just weaken the enemy with normal shooting then reload and kill it with the Tediore reload.
Build Buster

  • The earliest time you'll come across a Constructor is during the side quest "Out of Body Experience". These guys are pretty tough and you may have a few issues in your earlier levels trying to bring one down at your current level and weapons to hand. My advice would be to kill a Constructor with a max level character on the Normal Playthrough.
Cute Loot

  • You can find a Chubby all around Pandora, but there's some good spots where you're guaranteed to find one and those are in the starting area of the Caustic Caverns & the Wildlife Exploration Preserve. It will always spawn where the first group of enemies are located, right next to the fast travel stations. You can keep fast travelling until you find one, but remember that they're pretty rare, so it may take some time.
Goliath, Meet David

  • Goliath's are big monstrosities that can be found throughout Pandora. You'll need to shoot his helmet off and let the Goliath go into a rage mode. Afterwards, he'll attack anything and everything in sight. You'll need to leave him to level up 4 levels to a total level of 5. You'll know when he's leveled up as he'll do a small animation, gain some health back and his name will change. Kill him at level 5 and the achievement will unlock.
  • Here is a picture of a goliath for reference:
Definitely An Italian Plumber

  • Donkey Mong is a rare monster that spawns in the Bullymong areas of Eridium Blight. You will enter this area automatically during a story mission. He looks like one of the common Bedrock Bullymogs, but throws explosive barrels at you. Donkey Mong has only one single spawn point, however, he spawns very rarely. He can also spawn at any time of day. Take note that you do not have to do any special requirements to make him spawn.
Challenge Accepted

  • There's many challenges in the game which you'll need to complete past level one for this. Well over half will come through natural progression of the game and are easy, while others will require certain guns, elements or types of kills.

  • One challenge you should look at first is 'JEEEEENKINSSSSSS!!!'. You should actively try to grind this one as soon as possible.
Up High, Down Low

  • You'll first get a chance to high five Claptrap in Sanctuary where he's located in the north west corner of the map. You'll first need to complete the mission he hands over to you, which isn't very hard. Once done, you can high five him. If you miss it this time, you can revisit him later on and ask for another high five.
Better Than Money

  • The black market can be found in the purple building in Sanctuary. The market is a place where you can purchase SDU upgrades. These SDU's will give you increased clips for all guns or either more spaces for your personal equipment and bank. To buy any of the SDU's you'll first need some Eridium which can be found via loot drops, treasure chests or completing missions. You'll now need a total of 20 Eridium to purchase 5 different things as the initial lot all cost 4 Eridium each.
What does it mean?

  • Secret Achievement. For this achievement, you'll need to head to The Highlands. Around the centre of the map, you should come across the Hyperion Extraction Plant. Head inside and you'll now want to fight your way all the way to the end and the back of the base. You should come a cliff edge. Once you've found that, look over the edge and you'll see a new little ledge and tent down below. Simply jump off the cliff and down to the tent and you'll be presented with some audio by Handsome Jack or Claptrap and then the achievement will unlock.
How Do I Look?

  • To unlock a customised item, you'll need either get it as a reward for gaining a new Badass Rank, so completing challenges, or find them via dropped/found loot. There are tons to collect for each Vault Hunter, so you're not limited to just 10 pieces. Once you've found an item, make sure you go into your inventory and use it. You must do this for it to count towards the 10 you're collecting.

Obsessed

  • Whilst in any of the new locations introduced in this DLC, there is a small chance that any enemy with the prefix "Badass" in its name will drop a framed picture of Moxxi, upon dying. The picture has a purple glow when it has dropped, so you won't miss them when they drop. Fastest way to farm these is at "Pyro Pete's Bar", which can be accessed by travelling through "The Beatdown" area. A lot of "Badass" enemies spawn here if you activate the mission, "Bar Room Blitz" within this area and you can repeat the mission as many times as you want.
  • Note: This achievement is reportedly glitched and may not unlock for some people after having found 10 pictures. Do not worry though, as it will unlock, you may just need to find more pictures.

MISSABLE
  • Do not punch Mr. Miz or you won't be able to buy the amulet from him. Mr. Miz can be found in the Lair of Infinite Agony zone. Achievement unlocks when you equip the amulet.
Girl's Gotta Eat

  • After rescuing the Queen she will be returned to Flamerock Refuge. You can find her near the White Knight. Talk to her and she'll give you a couple of quests to do. The second of which is to feed her. Do so 3 times in a row to pop the achievement. She has a very particular diet and only eats Eridium. It will cost you 15 bars of Eridium to get this achievement.
Dang Girl You Ace At This Game

  • The main story must be completed to pick this up. Moxxi will give you the initial quest in Flamerock Refuge to send you to see Murderlin. Complete the 6th (Badass) wave to unlock this achievement. Achievement will unlock upon turning in the quest.
They Was All "Hey That's Mine"

  • During the mission "Denial, Anger, Initiative", you will come to a battle arena with a giant tree in the middle of it. In order to progress the story you must defeat 4 ghost kings. Some of the lesser enemies that spawn during the first half of the fight are the Immortal Skeletaurs.Once you kill one, walk up to it and "unsheath" the sword sticking through its body. They will keep coming back to life until you pull the sword from their corpse. Any Immortal Skeletaurs killed on this map will count toward the total so long as you haven't travelled since killing them.
  • Note that if you failed to get this by the end of the campaign, you can go back to the same arena later and redo the fight to find enough of these guys in the same area.
Keep Rollin' Rollin' Rollin

  • You'll find loot chests with two 20 sided dice on top in various places on the maps. You can roll one or two die to try and get better loot. The higher the roll, the higher the quality/rarity of the loot spawned inside. The highest die is used to determine quality of loot. The first dice chest can be found in the northeast part of the Unassuming Docks near the broken temple looking area down on the waters edge. The highest die must be either a 1 or a 20 to pop the achievement.
It's Like That One Video

  • In Hatred's Shadow, you will see a dark area on the wall across from a campfire. Use any weapon to shoot the darkness. A door will be revealed and you'll see a chest with two 20 sided die perched atop taunting you from within.
  • Note that if you use a grenade at The Darkness, instead of just shooting it, the door will open allowing you to open the chest inside. However, the achievement only pops when the Darkness is slain with bullets.
Make It Raaaaaid

  • To gain access to this quest, you must first have completed the main story. Mr. Torgue is the quest giver. He should be in the stocks back at the front of Flamerock Refuge across from the fast travel. Other than that, this is a raid boss and you should attempt to do this quest on the normal difficulty after first reaching max level.
Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary

  • Achievements from this point on are part of the Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary DLC.
Anyway, Here's "Firewall"

  • Story related. Can't be missed.
Chocolate Chip Confirmed

MISSABLE
  • During the mission "Shooting the Moon" Tina will task you in collecting some parts for the rocket. You'll collect two electrical parts as well as two wings in which you'll place onto the rocket. She will then task you to go collect a power core from defeating "Uranus Bot" and then you'll have to place that onto the rocket. Once you have done this you must talk to Tina to let her launch the rocket as the other option is to launch it yourself making this achievement void.
3 or Bust

  • Story related. Can't be missed.
Spicy Boy

  • This is the raid boss of this DLC. The quest should be available after completing the final story mission. As always, attempt fighting this boss after reaching max level on the normal difficulty.
  • Note that this achievement is glitched and you might need to fight the boss multiple times in order to unlock it.
Decrypted!

  • Claptrap offers you a mission called "Claptocurrency." Once you enter "The Veiny Shaft" you will run into some spiderants. In the south-east portion of the exploration area, The Dark Web will spawn.
Painbow Connection

  • Secret achievement. Different slots are tied to doing different things in the DLC. Since there are more than one of everything. You only need to find one gun if you have someone to help you dupe it to make 4 of them. Simply have a rainbow item equipped in every slot (except class mod) at once to unlock the achievement. This can also be done on any playthrough.

For Scarlett's DLC, "Whoops" is a story mission. I notice the side mission "Ye Scurvy Dogs" is not on the list.

If you are going for world traveler and you fast traveled to all your locations and all of your maps look full (and you've done all side missions etc) travel to the SOUTHERN SHELF and run to the southern most point of that map to travel to SOUTHERN SHELF BAY. There are 2 locations in that map that you won't travel to on any side missions etc unless you happened to just be exploring that early on. It seems to be a common (maybe the most common) missed place.

if "friendship rules" doesn't pop out easily, you need to add your friend into shift friends in game! menu -> socials
it worked for me only this way, maybe it will help someone else

@Gengi you need to beat each tier 3 challenge once as well for the achievement.

For the Challenge Accepted achievement. If you do all challenges and it does not unlock, just pick any challenge that is easy to level up and once you get a level in any challenge it will unlock.

@MattyMessiah you have to be Shift friends to get the achievement to work. I ran into the same thing. You should be able to friend your steam friend on Shift through bl2, though.

Great guide, has anyone come across a glitch with the achievement for reviving a co-op friend? Made sure we were both friends and still didn't pop. It's the last achievement I need and I'm willing to help anyone out with theirs.

@Gengi you need to do Tier 3, but you do not need to do the Rematch /The quest after/
