I use the Dancer character because her knives are one of the safer attacks to use. Aiming is jank from afar and recalling the knives takes a bit to get used to, but learning how to use it will reward you with less risk of getting damaged.
Intro
This guide is keeping in mind a fresh start. No essences yet acquired and no upgrades made yet either. These tips are meant for everyone. They will work with the other characters too, but you'll have to adjust to your character's attack animations.
Parry Practice
Each stage contains groups of enemies that huddle together. There's no avoiding this so try getting used to having multiple enemies attacking. In the training area, spawn multiple enemies at once. You'll find that parrying is reaction based. Once you get used to it, you'll be able to face multiple enemies at once.

Stun and Range
Attacks will "stun" the enemy, but they will continue their attack as seen from the marker above their head. Their attacks can only be interrupted with fully charged attacks.

Attacking from afar nets you the least amount of risk. Only the Dancer and Ninja get this opportunity however.

Backstabbing
Backstabbing kills quickly, letting you move to the next enemy. You can also choose which enemy to take down first.

Ghostly Features (Feat. Backstabbing pt. 2)
As a ghost, you can move through objects and enemies. Use this to your advantage. For enemies, you can move past them to quickly get a backstab.

For objects, exit out of ghost mode to collect coins. These small coins do add up.

Another useful feature is that you can kite enemies away. Only those who've noticed you in their line of sight will chase after you.

Elite Enemies
Elite enemies cannot be repeatedly attack stunned. Dash away or parry. You can usually get 1-2 hits in before they can attack.

Money and Essences
Essences give you an edge in battle i.e. buffs. How do you get essences? Choose 1 of 3 choices within the breakable pillars.

How do you get more? You buy them from the store.

How do you buy them from the store? You need money. How do you get money? By killing everything and finding those those secret chests.

Chests can only be located in ghost mode. You may hear a chime indicating a secret chest is nearby too.

Challenges
Do every challenge. Follow the rules and you'll complete it. Completing them will get you money and essences.

Ending and Notes
Hopefully with this guide, you'll be able to extend your runs! Have fun!

As of writing this, I've only gotten to the 3rd boss before dying. There may be more tips to give and I'll add them here too.

Thanks for this guide. I love the game but I'm having a hell of a time with parry. The window of opportunity to use it is so small. I noticed in your videos they have icons above their heads when they are about to attack. How do you enable those? Or were they removed? I just bought the game. I'm on build 1.007 on pc.

The boss named War is FUN I need to work on it, but I think I understand it, pillers are your friend in that fight I think.
