come to think of it... He doesn't even need the Linking book for Myst to be functional. The original Myst Book would also let him travel to Myst, and since the green book links back to D'ni (on earth) and is still on Myst and working, he should be fine. The Art creates worlds via written code in specially-crafted books. Linking books are like a parsed-hyperlink to their intended target, containing only key phrases to secure the connection rather than the full descriptive language necessary to form a whole world. You can make as many linking books as you want, set their origin and target points, etc. You can link to an Age from any other Age. Etc.

Ah, I guess technically all that is also retcon since the novels were written after the original Myst game was released. I consider the novels canon, especially since they were written by the same two guys who made Myst and Riven. The later games though... especially the online ones... *shudder*

Don't know why Atrus is so butthurt about being stuck in D'ni, it's on earth and (depending on if you accept the later multiplayer games' retcon or not) accessible from either the Middle East or Arizona. He doesn't explicitly NEED to return to Myst, he has the Riven book in his hands. All he loses on Myst is a few still undamaged books, his fail sons and I guess his grandmother's grave but other than that dude is a bit extra whining like that.

Stupid fact is you only need to raise the ship and then grab the white page while holding the 2 items on the ship then go to the uncle to free him. The game is fun and long but can actually be beaten in less than 37 seconds. I know I did it around 25 years ago when I was 7 years old. The game does not require all the puzzle to be done. All you really need to do is raise the ship and take the items off the ship go to white page on way to uncle then continue to uncle and victory. The first time I did it that way I completed the game in 2 minutes and 48 seconds then I just skipped needless things. The best way to beat the game is to go to the telescope room and write down the button combinations that you would place in the fire place. When you restart the game go straight to fire place and try the combinations. 1 of the combinations will raise the ship. If you keep doing it you will see a pattern with the fire place buttons.

Hey anyone know a work-around not being able to teleport to channelwood (from the root area of the tree) without the game crashing because of "small fatal error" - I mean "small fatal error" is a misnomer, yeah? IT's fatal - not small at all! WTF! Help, please!

this game is solavble without TOO much walkthrough usages, and the rewards become a lot more rewarding - just saying...

I am not getting any arrow blinking during tower rotations. Am I missing something?

@Zilas Go back to the surface. From the building you were just in to the rocket ship is an electrical wire overhead. In-between the building and the rocket ship are two towers with ladders that go up to the wire and have a circuit breaker lever. Pull both levers and you will now have your power input (on the left) going to the rocket ship output (display on the right). This is assuming of course that your power on the left is below whichever number will blow the power to the right (always 1 above the solution number). If not, lower your power first, or else it'll just keep blowing out.
