Final Step:
  • After that save the file. Don't check read only if you want to customize setting in-game!

  • And lastly make sure to cap your frames with your graphic card software or any other soft you use to whatever you desire (very important)

  • If you have screen tearing you can remove it with G sync Free sync, enchanced sync or any third party software.

You are ready to play!

IMPORTANT NOTE:
  • fLODFadeOutMultObjects= is the most important value to get more fps in towns, it can be lowered more but it will drastically reduce estructures and objects view distance and it can generate bugs if set too low so 4.5000 is a good stable and tested value. Taking that into account feel free to lower it more if you really need extra fps.

EXTRA NOTE: (If you want to enable some SFX again)
  • If you don't like effects like Sao, Volumetric lighting disabled or you think you can handle that, you can enable them again but this are very demanding effects specially volumetric lightning AKA Godrays. It can be enabled by changing this lines from 0 to this values:

bVolumetricLightingEnable=1 (high perfomance impact)

iVolumetricLightingTextureQuality=1 or 2 for better quality (high perfomance impact)

bSAOEnable=1 (medium perfomance impact)

EXTRA NOTE: (for users with old hardware)
  • If you really need more frames or lack enough memory on your graphic card besides using medium textures you can also put shadows in 1K, but note that shadows will look really ugly, you are advised. If needed then change the line iShadowMapResolution to this value below:

iShadowMapResolution=1024

AMD users "molerat complex" bug, aka character sink on terrain

  • To fix this its also very simple just go to your Radeon settings sofware go to Fallout 76 profile scroll down and in tesellation select "override" and pick x16 option. ENJOY

I did this changes based on my F4 settings and hours of testing in fallout 76, this not only removes drops but also gives a huge gain in frames without losing visual quality, from 49 fps to more than 100 was my gain and i only have a modest RX 480 with 8GB, so give it a try :)

Enjoy

just wondering when you say high end pcs is it the highest quality it can go?

I was using everything on low and had 60-70 fps outside of the vault. When using this, it went to 170+ fps. Incredible!

I have tried all of these including messing with the nividia settings but still get a significant stutter and frame drop with cell loading. has anyone found a fix for this

I would add a section about changing anti-aliasing in this as well.

@Velonex Did you try to cap your fps with your nvidia? This game has to be run under 100 fps or there will be bugs like your characters cant move.
Jill sandwich  [author] 25 Apr @ 6:02pm
@Velonex Thats weird.. because I tested my ini with the last update even on a clean game install and everything worked fine.

So the only thing i can suggest you is to delete both ini in "Documents/My Games/fallout76" delete fallout76.ini and fallout76prefs.ini and launch the game, let the game create the default files, exit, and after that paste my ini again. Launch the game and it should work.

I have a 3080. After replacing my ini with yours I can no longer move my character.
Jill sandwich  [author] 16 Apr @ 2:20pm
@ElTrenchy Depending on what settings you touch in-game some lines will change to bethesda presets, so its only safe to change resolution HUD and controls while in game. Don't change other graphical settings.

If you install the setting correctly either by just downloading my ini file or manually changing it, your setting should not reset by any means.
ElTrenchy 16 Apr @ 1:16pm
My settings keep resetting. Any idea why?
