The Magic Storage mod is one of those quality of life mods that everyone should use when playing a modded run in Terraria, especially when playing a run with mods like The Calamity Mod or Fargo's Souls mod which brings item recipes that are even more complex than the Ankh Shield. So what exactly is The Magic Storage mod ? well simply put it allows the player to create a network of chest-like items that you can access from a single block. It can even be accessed from multiple points or remotely anywhere in the world , it also allows you to search by item ID , type and much more. Not only that, but it also includes a crafting interface which allows you to easily craft items from the network of chests that you've placed , with all the crafting stations needed from the convenience of a single access point

With that said let's get into the guide.

First things first you'd want to get a crafting components for the storage which is called " Storage Component


This can be crafted with any of 10 woods and any of 2 iron bars on the work bench




Now that you've acquired a storage component you'll be able to craft one of the important items
which is a Storage Unit using 1 Storage Component , 1 chest , and 10 Silver/Tungsten bars on a workbench



This is the block that actually stores all of your items and can be connected with multiple Storage Units for increased items capacity







Like so

You'd notice that you have your Storage Units lined up together, thing is how do you store your items now ? It's important to note Storage Units cant be accessed on its own

you will need to craft an item called " Storage Heart " which requires 1 storage component , 2 diamonds/shadow diamonds and 3 emeralds




Shadow Diamonds are materials dropped by vanilla bosses on the first time you've killed them, this is a great temporary alternative if you can't seem to find diamonds

A good fix for this is to install the Alchemist NPC Lite mod which adds a " Jeweler " NPC , that sells all the items needed for crafting everything in this mod, for example Rubies, Sapphires, etc.



Once you've acquired the Storage Heart , you can place it wherever you want your storage area to be , and connect it alongside your storage units

Once that's done you should be able to access your storage units , this is where you will be able to store your items or take them out whenever you please
You can see that I have 160 space for items as I've put 4 storage units, as 1 storage unit can only hold 40 items. I know it isn't a lot but as you progress through the game you will be able to get ores that will upgrade your storage units for increased storage space



For starters you can craft a Crimtane Storage Upgrade with 10 Crimtane Bars and 1 amethyst.



Once you have your Storage Upgrade you can place them in your hotbar and right click your storage units to upgrade them. If this is done correctly, there should be a change of colour in the bottom left corner and the center of your storage units

As you can see, our storage space just doubled in size, able to store 320 items, granted if this isn't enough for you, you are always allowed to craft more storage units and upgrade them later. There are currently 6 storage upgrades you can craft , with the final one ( Terra Storage Upgrade ) making your Storage Units being able to store a whopping 640 items

Now, let's go ahead and look at the Storage Heart's interface

This is where The Storage Interface will sort out your items , these ranges from sorting your items by IDs , names and values

The row below it allows you to filter item types , such as weapons which is divided by classes too , tools , potions , etc







Theres also a handy " Transfer All " button which allows you to :
Quick stack your items - Left Click the " Transfer All " button
Deposit ALL of your items besides marked items and the hotbar - Ctrl + Left click the " Transfer All " button
Restock your item - Right Click the " Transfer all " Button

You can also filter items in which mod theyre designated in or Vanilla only by clicking the buttons shown here. You can also search items by name on the spot above it if you so desire

That is all for the interface , now lets move on to crafting. To craft items within your storage network you will need to create an item called " Storage Crafting Interface "

This requires 1 storage component , 1 diamond and 3 Sapphires to craft




Once crafted place the item alongside your network of storages , wherever is fine as long as it connects



Like so




As you can see in the top row are designated slots for crafting stations, for example if you have a work bench, a furnace and an anvil you can place all 3 in those slots and now you can use The Storage Crafting Interface to smelt ores and craft ore-related items





If you have items that are already stored in your storage network , the crafting interface will bring up recipes you can craft that use those items
As you can see because I've placed Boreal Wood into my storage network and put a workbench into my crafting station slots I can now craft items that require Boreal Woods

It is also important to note the crafting interface only counts items in your storage network and not in your inventory , so if you have items to craft its wise to put them in your storage network first

Now what if you want to space out your Storage Heart and Storage Crafting from the Storage Units ? Well thankfully that's what Storage Connectors are for. These act as wires that keep everything connected together if you don't want your storage heart or storage crafting close to the storage units


these are very affordable and only cost 16 wood and 1 any iron bar to craft




Once you've crafted the connectors go ahead and connect them ala wires between your Storage Units and Storage Heart/Crafting




As you can see I can access my items and craft them even from a distance

Now what if you'd want to make a base in the ocean and want to access your storage networks ? that would require a lot of storage connectors and lots of building. Thankfully there is a fix for this problem

You would need a Remote Storage Access which requires 3 Diamonds/Shadow Diamonds and 3 Rubies





And a locator which requires 10 Meteorite Bars and 2 Ambers




Once you have these 2 items head to an area you'd want to access your Storage Remotely , for this example I will use the sky biome ( which I make a glowing mushroom area too ) and place the remote storage access wherever you want










Then , head back to your base and right click your Storage Heart while equipping your Locator
,in which a text should pop up in chat











Now head to where you place your Remote Storage Access and right click it too with the Locator
Another text should pop up indicating that you've successfully done it











You should now be able to access your Storage Units remotely

The final feature I want to point out in this mod is a post-moon lord item that is very useful as it lets you access your Storage Network wherever you are and whenever without a huge setup

You will first need to craft a Locator Drive which needs 25 Martian Conduit Plating , and 5 Luminite Bars crafted at an Ancient Manipulator




With that you will now be able to craft a Portable Remote Storage Access which requires a locator drive, 1 radiant jewel which drops from Moon Lord, 3 diamonds or shadow diamonds and 7 Rubies ,


alternatively you can swap out the Radiant Jewel With 20 Cosmilite Bar if you're doing a Calamity Play through






After crafting the item equip it in your hotbar and right click your storage heart, a text should pop up, giving you coordinates similar to the Remote Storage Access









And with that you have an item in which you can access your storage network whenever and wherever

That is all for the mod, in my opinion and without exaggeration Magic Storage Mod is a must have for every lets plays. Many times have it save my time and energy from searching every single chests searching for that specific item for crafting, especially if you're crafting items from the Fargo's Souls Mod , and not having a one in all crafting interface without grabbing the items to your inventory is also a huge blessing for my sanity.
