RAAF CAC Wirraway

The Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC) Wirraway (an Aborigine word meaning 'challenge') was an advanced trainer and general purpose wartime aircraft based off the North American NA-33 (an early pre-war aircraft that would become the Texan). This aircraft served to develop Australia's aircraft manufacturing going into World War II (which was previously non-existent), and they produced 755 aircraft between 1939 and 1946. Oddly enough the Wirraway was more successful in the fighter role then the purpose built fighter that replaced it, the Boomerang. It shot down one more aircraft then the Boomerang during it's operational use in the role...the Boomerang never shot down any aircraft. Today there are still a few Wirraway's either being restored or flying today, a credit to the fledgling aircraft industry of Australia.

This particular CAC Wirraway is a facsimile of the aircraft as it would have looked circa 1943 when flown by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) during World War II. The aircraft and it's associated systems closely resemble those on the real aircraft in both use and function.
