Installing & playing from retail "Games for Windows Live" disc version
It seems everybody thinks that GFWL games cannot be played anymore because the service is down, this is simply not true. GFWL games work fine, there is no need to transfer your key to a steam version if you already have the retail discs.

After you install, the first problem is getting past the Release date check, the fix is to change your computers date to 2011.(October worked for me). This is such an easy fix yet I couldnt find an answer anywhere on the internet, so im posting it here. (this is an issue with alot of games not just GFWL games), make sure to turn the clock back or you wont be able to sign in to GFWL.

People dont know about this simple fix so they think their discs are usless and they have to convert to the steam version and painfully download the entire 17gb while they already own the discs. Understandably people are upset and think they have been robbed or cheated after buying the physical retail copy and find out that they cant install it, but people are not aware of this simple fix.

The next and biggest issue is the misconception that Games for Windows Live is dead and all your GFWL retail games will not work and they have to be converted or re-purchased on steam., Wrong!, your GFWL account has now been converted to a XBOX Live account. If you sign in on the xbox live website you will see all your GFWL info will be there.

So once ingame just sign-in to GFWL as usual and play, all your GFWL games still work perfectly.
