Colin McRae Rally 2005 é o quinto jogo da série, lançado em 2004 para PS2, Xbox e Windows (PC). Nessa versão são mantidos todos os recursos da versão 04 e ainda adicionado um outro tipo de modo carreira, sendo chamado propriamente de "Carreira" com eventos mistos. O Modo carreira como era conhecido nas versões anteriores passou a se chamar campeonato. Após o falecimento do piloto em 2007, a serie teve seu nome alterado para DiRT, a partir do ano de 2011, com o game DiRT 3, removendo o nome do lendário piloto dos títulos dos jogos.

Colin McRae Rally 2005 is the fifth game in the series, released in 2004 for PS2, Xbox and Windows (PC). In this version, all the features of version 04 are kept and another type of career mode is added, being properly called "Career" with mixed events. Career mode as it was known in previous versions came to be called championship. After the pilot's death in 2007, the series had its name changed to DiRT, from the year 2011, with the game DiRT 3, removing the name of the legendary pilot from the games' titles.
