By jsSmokietrue
It's all about sound virtualization.
And I will tell you how to arrange it

Windows Sonic
Windows Sonic [www.windowscentral.com] after creators update(1703 or higher) can virtualize more than 8 channels, you can set apex to 16 channels via steam launch options and add "+miles_channels 16" making VERY clear and easy to spot enemies above or under you.

So, just add 16 channels and turn on windows sonic and enjoy.

Ps: Usually people bash over virtualization in games and how stereo is just better, and for sure it is, but for some the sound, especially in apex, can be amazingly disorienting and virtualization can help, its just a tip for people already using virtualization.

Get a real 5.1 system instead of using fake surround headsets.

Interesting tip! Will test it out. What are the downsides of virtualization?

@chybaignacy
-Open your Steam library
-From a game's library page, select Manage > Properties
-On the General tab you'll find Launch Options section
-Enter the launch options you wish to apply (be sure to separate each code with a space)
-Close the game's Properties window and launch the game
