ye, I usually have 1 for production (on rare case +tab, if I have several production worlds), 2 for main capital ship, and alt+empire tree for fleet control. While 3-7 are situational hotkeys for specific support cruisers, or additional capital ships.
I may use either 7 or 8-0 for cannons, VR pji, starbases, depending on how many hotkey groups I already have.
But most of the games it's 95% I use 1-3 (production, cap, titan).
On some rare occasions I may add normal frigates to control groups, like if I am chasing someone, I usually set my vettes to 5.
Or if I face limited AOE, while not having means to disable it (aka ragnarov jumps in, but I have no AM drain). In those cases I get 3-0 for my frigates at groups of 10 or 20, to quickly splitt them.
As for the research, it's just to speed it up a little and it's mostly to see how much time I have left before a tech is done for things like repulse, pfp so i'm constantly spamming the tech screens for that.
And 1-2 for production - would not it be easier to have 1+tab with multiple planets? Cause that saves you an enitre number. And while it is unusual to have 10 control groups and requrie even more, I find it always more relaxing to be using 1-7, as 8-0 are too far away on the keyboard.
TEC are not soviet. They are the true fascists.
