  Description
This mod simply makes it so that all pistols can accept any pistol magazines and all rifles can accept all rifle magazines.

This doesn't change damage or anything, just how many bullets you can load into a gun. Damage is defined in the game per weapon and per ammo not per magazine.

This mod is just a simple script; it does not touch the SBCs, so if you wanted to balance weapons or the cost of the ammo magazines, this would not conflict.


  Switching Magazines
If you have multiple magazines in your inventory and a weapon equipped on your toolbar, you can switch which magazine is loaded by selecting the weapon on the toolbar multiple times.

For example, say I have a rifle in toolbar slot 1, I'd hit 1 when I want to switch ammo types. This feature is built into the game, so it is not my fault if it is a buggy mess lol.


  Author's Notes
I thought it was silly that for rifles, they all shared the same model and cartridge but needed unique magazines for each variant, so I threw this together. I also made an assumption that the pistols fired the same cartridge between them (I'd guess 9mm) and made pistol mags usable by any pistol.

Also, fun fact: All rifles in the base game (without this mod) can already be loaded with the old "NATO_5p56x45mm" 30 round magazine, you just can't make them in assemblers anymore. Keen probably did this for backwards compatibility so that ammo you already manufactured before this update (1.198) wasn't just deleted

This seems to cause issues with loading worlds now. Have not tested it on it's own.

Something has changed with damage. This mod with any MES spiders and hand weapons barely damage them. It takes magazine after magazine.

Oh? didn't know interior turret didn't shoot old ammo... well didn't play much since that uptade (mostly tested the weapon) and don't plan to play for a little while but i know that this mod was needed

Are or can interior turrets affected by this mod? I discovered interior turrets on old ships are loaded with old magazines and do not shoot at intruders

i'd like them to add the 5.56 ammo back to the assembler menu. it's nice to have a universal but nerfed ammo rype available when with a group of people with different rifles to fit different roles and playstyles

@Deserter It was? All rifles used the same ammo. This was deliberately removed from vanilla by Keen.

You can load a rifle with all ammo types at once. When a magazine runs out, and you don't carry more of that ammo type with you it'll automatically swap ammo types and fire one of the other magazines you previously loaded before.
