Serious Sam 4 Italia Reworked (WIP)

Serious Sam 4 Italia Reworked reworks the Italy chapter of the base game by speeding up the pacing, increasing the challenge of levels, and diversifying encounters.

The idea of a fully reworked campaign has sadly been scrapped. Life is too busy and I can no longer dedicate the time necessary to complete my original goal. Instead, I have settled and committed to rework and polish the reworked experience that I have made so far. More details below x.

This is a work in progress! All levels are still being worked on and only the first 7 levels are available. The rest will be added in due course. When In Rome is next.

Please note that When In Rome and Machina Ex Deus are very large levels and re-reworking them to a point where I am happy with how they play will take a huge amount of time so please be patient.


-Re-reworked weapon progression, encounters, and pacing. Previous versions of these levels were messy and tiresome (especially the later ones) and this rework aims to make them feel more like actual official levels rather than a modded mess.

-Splitting of the Four Horsemen level into 2 parts. Four horsemen set during a rainy morning and Exitus Acta Probat ft. clearbluesky.exe.

-Addition of the Machete as the only custom weapon being used this time. The knife sucks and even though the machete is a bit jank, it's still fun and miles better than the knife.

-Gadgets are to be given sparingly and will be removed from the players inventory after each new level starts.

-Encounters are being aimed toward a few different concepts. Challenge, specific weapon usage, interesting enemy/usage or combination, or power fantasy.

-New secrets and expanded upon areas here and there.

-Friendly npc characters in are removed, so it's just you against the hordes. However, Nonna can stay. You'll see, is good.

-Boss fights are altered to provide more challenge and include different enemies.

-Play the vanilla campaign first! SS4R isn't designed for first time playthroughs. Consider it a blend between a campaign remaster and a NG+ mode.

-Play on normal or hard for your first playthrough of this mod. Serious can get (seriously) challenging and being aware of enemy placements/spawns/timings etc are helpful for your serious run if/when you give it a go.

-Rusev's enemy packs are not required to play the mod but are highly encouraged. Rusev fixes many issues the original enemies had and also adds new attacks and features that make combat that much more interesting and engaging. Incredible stuff really.
