If you "start" a online play you dont really start one. You join a server and partially take control over it.
Anyway its weired, as like i said its just the official effect. In case the mod changes the texture/material or whatever it should also replace the dosh effect with the mod effect.
But tbh, i'm suprised this doesnt happen more often as the game is not very mod friendly.^^
This is the effect i used when you destroy gold objects
But as it is an official effect and working for your clients and also on at least 1 other server i know, i think its no map issue.
What you can try is:
Check the following folder:
...:\Steam\steamapps\common\killingfloor2\KFGame\BrewedPC\Packages\EffectsThree
Here is your FX_Headshot_Alt_EMIT.upk and it should be: 3.593.399 Byte large
If its exactly the same on your system and the server, maybe delete the "effectsthree" folder and do a steam integrity check afterwards, that might help.
