1930s Power Plant

Descrição
This mod proposes a coal-fueled power plant that is more adapted for early-starting date games. I have modeled it after the Novorossiysk Regional Power Plant, inaugurated in 1930 in the Black Sea region, from a single old photograph, so the non visible parts are extrapolated.

It has a power capacity of 22MW (historical data), a 200 ton coal storage, 2 aggregate input connections, and I gave it 3 HV connections and 2 LV. It should go without saying that this means you should pick your HV pylons wisely to avoid overloading the grid. Employs 50 workers.

The perpendicular wing of the building is set to be collisionless to allow the player to make better use of the empty quadrant left (remember however that roads or bus stops need to be placed there before the plant itself).

Heating extension:
=================

The 2nd item in the mod is a heating plant extension meant to work in tandem with the power plant. It's comprised by 3 big pipe connections and 2 footpaths for access. Employs 5 people. It's collisionless so that you can place it in such way as for it to appear like the pipes are coming out of the plant's walls (see pictures). The concept is inspired by Comrade DirrrtyDirk's work here: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2384910975 .
In constrast with Dirk's model however there is no reference point inside the main plant for 'correct' placement, as you are free to position the pipes in various places that might make sense to your configuration. Actually, you can even place it multiple times, multiplying this way the outgoing heat pipes, and converting the plant from primarily providing electricity to primarily providing heat.

Now I'm not entirely sure of the game's math for heating, so the current performance stats are slightly arbitrary. As far as I tested, a single heating extension seems to cover a population of 8-9k people without strain, at a cost of ~1MW of power from the plant. If this is deemed too cheaty in terms of consumption, please notify me and I'll make it more energy-draining.

Addendum:
--------

Following suggestion, I added a variant of the pipes extention to make placement easier and with bigger degree of freedom. The new variant has longer pipes which go underground. This way, instead of having to extrude from a wall, you can put them anywhere in the vicinity of the plant. They included a mirrored version as well.

The Soviets and electrification make up the base of the new world - Comrade Lenin.

yes, I'm sure of it, but it's not so much a characteristic of Soviet avant-garde, rather than what was broadly common back in the day throughout the industrial world. But anyway I think for this building a brick job would be a major pain in the ass, and the result probably mediocre, as I didn't map it with a brick texture in mind.
If you happen to have photos of large surfaces with early soviet brick masonry however, I'd love it if you share them, as they would very likely come in handy later on.

Naked brick is also very common, be sure. I can provide you with a lot of naked brick industrial facilities of early soviet era.

Heh, I love how you make comparisons with the vanilla versions and remark on things I didn't even notice.
The price tag is indeed low compared to the vanilla plant, as the 30s one is brick-made, and hence requires little concrete which is way more expensive.
About the coal consumption I didn't really pay attention initially, but it's good that it's consuming more than the vanilla plant, if only to simulate better the lesser efficiency of a 30s plant compared to a 60s plant.
For the same reason it employs more people because I'm sure a lot more shoveling had to be done back then xP

hehehe thanks ^_^ I hope the first favorite is not Battersea tho... >_< :P

Definitely second favourite this Mod Monday!! :D

Great work!

I made a Mod Monday video with your mod in it.

I absolutely love the plant

this one is brick made tho, in terms of materials, but from what I understand during the constructivist/Avant-garde era of Soviet architecture (~1920-1935) most buildings were finished with a coat of paint/plaster/whatever material that was at the time.
Naked brick was more common in the pre-revolutionary times.
doing a naked brick variant for this one would be a major pain in the ass actually. I'd have to work on aligning the mapping accordingly, which takes me weeks for a job well done, and something tells me that because of the many angles on this building the final result would still be a bit of an eyesore. But hey, maybe other brick projects will come in the future ^_^

Looks really good, like the reworked textures. Thanks for sharing :)

Nice old power plant! Really like it. Can you add also brick texture variant for it? It was more typical
