Microsoft Store Version
Steps to access save files folder

  1. Press Win + R

  2. Copy and paste the following into "Run" window and press "OK"

    %localappdata%\Packages\Microsoft.SunriseBaseGame_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs

  3. Voila! You're in the save file folder, and I wouldn't recommend screwing over with save files without doing any backup.

The end result in explorer should look approximately as shown:

Steam Version
Steps to access save files folder

  1. Press Win + R

  2. Copy and paste the following into "Run" window

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\
(Presuming that you didn't change the default Steam installation folder)

  3. Sort by "Date Modified", and open the first recent folder (mine is "162934955", because of AccountID number, which you can find yours on SteamDB[steamdb.info])

    https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/1756939431677679599/EADEEE436457B49AAC2A58A889320EE05260F1B7/?imw=256&&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false
  4. Open folder that reads "1293830" (FH4's AppID number on Steam), and then open "remote" folder

  5. Voila! You're in the save file folder, and, no, you can't move over MS Store saves to Steam, sadly (yet!) :(

The end result in explorer should look approximately as shown:
F.A.Q.
This section will be updated often
  • Can you move over MS Store save files to Steam version FH4?
—Unfortunately, but you can't move over MS Store saves to Steam :(

  • Can I somehow Jerry-rig MS Store saves into Steam version of FH4?
—No, you can't Jerry-rig, and instead you will be greeted with repeating "Invalid Profile" message until your game crashes it way out with error code "E:88-d"

  • Do Steam saves work in MS Store version of the game?
—This question remains unconfirmed, but I'd probably say no, because both versions store saves in a completely different way to the point that Steam version doesn't recognize save from MS Store version of the game, and vice versa.

  • Can I use someone else's save file?
—Yes, you can use someone else's save file, and for that, I have the following guide in case if you're interested. (Unavailable, yet)
    https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2426240160

  • Can I get banned by using someone else's save file?
—Yes, there's a high chance that you might get banned if you try to go into Horizon Life (Online) while using someone else's savefile, and the game might give the following message:

    FEATURE LOCKED
Your gamertag has been banned from this feature. For more information about Xbox Live's terms and services agreement, please visit https://aka.ms/ForzaBanInfo

  • Can I use get achievements by using someone else's save file on my account?
—Yes, you can get achievements both on Steam and Xbox by using someone else's save file, however, your Steam and Xbox accounts might get excluded from leaderboards of achievement tracking websites (e.g. TrueAchievements, ExoPhase, Steam Hunters and etc) for unlocking achievements in a non-legitimate way.

  • "I can't find a Steam installation folder, nor in Program Files (x86), nor in Program Files"
—In case if you happened to change your Steam's default installation folder, then you would need to use your own path to access it.

If you are not aware, where your Steam folder is stored, then launch Steam from the "Start" menu, or by using a shortcut on your desktop.

After doing so, head to the Task Manager. In the Task Manager, click on "Details", and find "steam.exe" process, then press RMB on the process and click on "Open file location".

After doing so, you will see the .exe file location, and you will also be able to find "userdata" folder in the same folder as the process.
