These are randomly spawning pieces of loot found on beaches or shipwrecks. They are similar to the Merchant Manifests and can be read when interacting with when held by the player. Doing so will unlock the achievement (doesn't matter which of the 8 variants you open).

You can dive to Smugglers' League voyages from the quest table. Dive to any non-Raid voyage and complete it. Only required once for the achievement.

You can start the Smugglers' Route Run voyage from your ship's captain's table. Complete a single voyage for the achievement. You need to transport highly explosive barrels from point A to point B. The smuggler hideouts are located on islands across the Sea of Thieves (check your map table for smuggler icons to help locate correct islands). This voyage type cannot be played in Safer Seas.

Simply earn 50,000 gold from the new Smuggler's League faction by selling items from their voyages to them.

Guide markers have been implemented for Safer Seas. These are described as followed and will be alongside all achievements to help you identify which can be earned in Safer Seas and which cannot.

Awarded for the completion of your first Gold Hoarder Voyage.

You can dive to Gold Hoarder voyages from the quest table. Dive to any non-Raid voyage and complete it. Only required once for the achievement.

Awarded for earning a total of 150,000 gold from selling items to the Gold Hoarder faction. This can be monitored under the Gold Hoarder commendation page. The commendation shares the name with the achievement, 'Keeper of a Glittering Hoard'. Very easy with Emissary flags as the gold multiplier helps with this commendation.

Awarded for being a member of a crew that votes to raise an emissary flag for the Gold Hoarder faction. You can vote on the flag on the table next to any Gold Hoarder vendor. The emissary flag costs 20,000 gold after hitting reputation level 15 and purchasing the promotion from any Gold Hoarder representative.

Awarded for reaching reputation level 50 in the Gold Hoarders and then purchasing the respective promotion from any of the Gold Hoarder vendors.

Awarded for reaching reputation level 75 with Gold Hoarders and purchasing the promotion.

New unlock criteria: Awarded for digging up a total of 250 chests as part of X Marks the spot voyages for the Gold Hoarders. You cannot track this achievement in-game but may be able to use Xbox achievement progression to track it.
This achievement was changed on 23/01/2024 (previously awarded for purchasing 250 faction voyages).

Awarded for completing 250 Gold Hoarder Voyages. Can be monitored under the commendation page and it shares the name with the achievement. Short X Marks the Spot or Riddle Quests are the easiest method to grind this.

Awarded for sailing 1,000 nautical miles while on a Gold Hoarder Voyage. It is recommended that you always have a voyage voted on when sailing around so it progresses achievements like this one, even when doing unrelated tasks. Can be monitored under the commendation page and it shares the name with the achievement.

Awarded for selling a total of 300 'Shipwrecked' Chests to the Gold Hoarder faction. 'Shipwrecked' chests look the same as normal variants but have barnacles on them. They are obtained from Shipwrecks, Sinking Skeleton ships and sometimes found under water around islands.
They come in castaway, seafarers, marauders and captain variaties.
Can be monitored under the commendation page and it shares the name with the achievement.

Awarded for selling a total of 360 Captain Chests to the Gold Hoarder faction. Both ashen and normal Captain Chests count. Can be monitored under the commendation page and it shares the name with the achievement. Can be obtained from some world events, raid voyages, etc. Not voyages.


Vaults:
Awarded for digging up a vault key with only 1 piece of the torn map during a Wayfinder voyage. This is partially luck based because you have to get the cross (X) on the first map piece and identify the island it is. You need to be reputation level 25 with Gold Hoarders to unlock these voyages.

Awarded for looting all the gold piles in a Vault. It is recommended you get this achievement in one of the lower tier vaults like the stone vaults. There are a lot less gold piles to collect. You have 3 minutes from the opening of the vault to loot the gold piles but you can stay in longer if you wish to keep collecting while you drown.
Season 11 (23/01/2024) extended the time the vault stays open for smaller crews making crew size less important. You do not need to solve the puzzle or collect all chests.

Awarded for opening three vaults with Gold tier keys. Gold vault keys are only obtainable after reaching reputation level 45+ with the Gold Hoarders. Gold vaults offer more loot than lower tiers.

Awarded for completing your first Order of Souls Voyage.

You can dive to Order of Souls voyages from the quest table. Dive to any non-Raid voyage and complete it. Only required once for the achievement. Easiest quest: Short Crew Bounty.

Awarded for earning a total of 150,000 gold from selling skulls to the Order of Souls faction. This can be monitored under the Order of Souls commendation page. The commendation shares the name with the achievement, ''Mercenary of the Ancient Order".

Awarded for being a member of a crew that votes to raise an emissary flag for the Order of Souls faction. You can vote on the flag next to any Order of Souls vendor. The emissary flag costs 20,000 gold after hitting reputation level 15 and purchasing the promotion.

Awarded for reaching reputation level 50 in the Order of Souls and then purchasing the respective promotion from any of the Order of Souls vendors.

Awarded for reaching reputation level 75 with Order of Souls and purchasing the promotion.

New unlock criteria: Unlocked for killing 500 total Skeletons whilst sailing for an Order of Souls Bounty Voyage. You cannot track this achievement in-game but may be able to use Xbox achievement progression to track it.
This achievement was changed on 23/01/2024 (previously awarded for purchasing 250 faction voyages).

Awarded for completing 250 Order of Souls Voyages. Can be monitored under the commendation page and it shares the name with the achievement. Quickest quest: Short Crew or Captain bounty.

Awarded for sailing 1,000 nautical miles while on a Order of Souls Voyage. It is recommended that you always have a voyage voted on when sailing around so it progresses achievements like this one, even when doing unrelated tasks. Can be monitored under the commendation page and it shares the name with the achievement.

Awarded for receiving the commendation for defeating 1,000 Skeleton Captains ('Hunter of Cursed Captains'). Emergent captain's found in the world do not count for this achievement but any from voyages/bottle quests do. If someone in your crew kills one, all gain progress.

Awarded for selling a total of 360 Villainous Bounty Skulls to the Order of Souls faction. Both ashen and normal skulls count. Can be monitored under the commendation page and it shares the name with the achievement. Can be obtained from some world events, raid voyages, etc. Not voyages.


The Burning Blade:





Awarded for defeating the Burning Blade in Order of Souls ghost fleet quests or the world event equivalent 10 times. This can be tracked under the Order of Souls commendations. You must be reputation level 75 with the Order of Souls for this to spawn as a quest variant.

Note: This use to be a World Event but was changed on February 10th 2022. The world event has returned on March 16th 2023.

Awarded for defeating 500 ghost ships. The commendation can be monitored under the Order of Souls page. The Order of Souls offer voyages to defeat ghost ships that progress this achievement. Alternatively, the Legend of the Veil quests for Pirate Legends also has ghost ships for the final chapter which count for this achievement.

The Burning Blade ghost fleet world event has returned and can be used for this achievement again.

Awarded for the completion of your first Merchant Alliance Voyage.

You can dive to Merchant Alliance voyages from the quest table. Dive to any non-Raid voyage and complete it. Only required once for the achievement. Easiest quest: Any really.

Awarded for earning a total of 150,000 gold from selling merchant loot to the Merchant Alliance faction. This can be monitored under the Merchant Alliance commendation page. The commendation shares the name with the achievement, ''Gilded Merchant".

Awarded for being a member of a crew that votes to raise an emissary flag for the Merchant Alliance faction. You can vote on the flag next to any Merchant Alliance vendor. The emissary flag costs 20,000 gold after hitting reputation level 15 and purchasing the promotion.

Awarded for reaching reputation level 50 in the Merchant Alliance and then purchasing the respective promotion from any of the Merchant Alliance vendors.

Awarded for reaching reputation level 75 with the Merchant Alliance and purchasing the promotion.

New unlock criteria: Unlocked for putting a total of 250 animals into their respective crates on Merchant Alliance voyages. No real trick for this achievement, just keep completing animal voyages for the Merchant Alliance. You cannot track this achievement in-game but may be able to use Xbox achievement progression to track it.
This achievement was changed on 23/01/2024 (previously awarded for purchasing 250 faction voyages).

Awarded for completing 250 Merchant Alliance Voyages. Can be monitored under the commendation page and it shares the name with the achievement. Quickest quest: Any short one really.

Awarded for sailing 1,000 nautical miles while on a Merchant Alliance Voyages. It is recommended that you always have a voyage voted on when sailing around so it progresses achievements like this one, even when doing unrelated tasks. Can be monitored under the commendation page and it shares the name with the achievement.

Awarded for delivering 100 Gunpowder kegs on time to the Merchant Alliance from bottle quests (found on islands/shipwrecks/flotsam. Quests for delivering shipments (animals etc) can include delivering powder kegs. Forts have lots of Gunpowder kegs, deliver them for a bottle quest when you find one. Make sure you deliver to the right outpost.

Awarded for delivering 50 Fruit Crates on time to the Merchant Alliance. Quests for delivering Fruit crates can be found as bottle quests. It is random as to what quest you will get.
With the ability to buy Fruit crates now, you can buy enough bananas to complete the quest. You must use the crate picked up from the vendor, not the bought one (it will say Deliver).

During a Lost Shipment Voyage you must find the shipwreck without finding all the clues as to it's route and location. The achievement will unlock upon picking up the manifest in the wreck if you didn't get all clues on the way. You must have reputation level 25 with the Merchant Alliance in order to unlock these voyages.

Awarded for getting 5 revered manifests on Lost Shipment Voyages. You must have reputation level 25 with the Merchant Alliance in order to unlock these voyages but to get Revered Manifests you must have reputation level 50 or higher with the Merchant Alliance. You do not need to sell the manifests for the achievement, just recover them.

Complete a Lost Shipment Voyage on each of the 13 trade routes for this achievement. The direction of the trade route does not matter.

Which shipment route you get is dependent on where your ship is currently. It is recommended for the Devil's Roar trade routes that you purchase as many Lost Shipment Voyages and then head to the Devil's Roar and then vote on the quest. It is RNG which trade route it will be in your area. There is no way currently of tracking which trade route has been completed.

This achievement is awarded for purchasing each Resource crate from a Merchant Alliance vendor as well as each of the Commodity Crates. You can only buy commodity crates whilst flying an emissary flag for Merchants. This counts across all play sessions and does not need to be done at once.
If you want to get this achievement at once rather than natural progression you will need roughly 35,000+ gold to spend.

Awarded for being part of a crew that has raised a Reaper's Bones emissary flag. You can purchase the flag license from the Servant of the Flame at the Reaper's Hideout. Unlike the other main factions you do not need to have any reputation with the faction to unlock it. You can vote it at the Hideout or any outpost.

Simply use your voyage table on your ship to vote to dive on any of the Reaper's Bones faction voyages and complete the voyage to earn this achievement.

Complete the Search for Ancient Secrets Voyage without any of your skeletons dying more than six times. You must make it your priority to defeat any Ancient Warriors that appear as fast as possible. More Coming soon!

Awarded for reaching reputation level 75 with the Reaper's Bones faction and purchasing the promotion at the Reaper's Hideout.

You will not be awarded this achievement retroactively if you met the criteria prior to Season 9.
It follows the tracking for the Bilge Rat commendation called "Reaper's Riches".

Reaper's Chests and Reaper's Bounties are found in shipwrecks throughout the world or from Fort of the Damned and are marked by coloured swirls. They are also constantly marked on the ship's map. You must find and cash in 30 of these, combined, to the Reaper's Bones for the achievement.

To obtain Pirate Legend you must reach level 50 with at least three trading companies: The Gold Hoarders , Merchant Alliance , Order of Souls , Reaper's Bones or Hunter's Call .

Once you have purchased their level 50 promotions, head to the Mysterious Stranger in the tavern at any outpost and talk to him. You will receive a title and various other items as well as the achievement.

Awarded for being part of a crew with a raised Athena's Fortune emissary flag. The emissary flag can be purchased for 20,000 gold from the Pirate Lord in the Athena's Fortune Hideout. It does not have any reputation requirement but you must be a pirate legend.

You can dive to Athena's Fortune voyages from the quest table. Dive to any non-Raid voyage and complete it. Only required once for the achievement. Easiest quest: Skull of Destiny.

Awarded for selling all the Legendary Treasures to the Mysterious Stranger in the outpost Tavern. These can be obtained from Athena's Fortune Voyages and include:

• Chest of Legends
  
• Chalice of Ancient Fortune
  
• Gilded Relic of Ancient Fortune
  
• Skull of Ancient Fortune
  
• Villainous Skull of Ancient Fortune
  
• Crate of Legendary Voyages
  
• Keg of Ancient Black Powder

Legend of the Veil loot is not required for this achievement. I assume the new loot types in Season 11 are also not required for this achievement.

All Athena loot sold after the Legend of the Veil update will count for this commendation. Simply sell 500 items to Athena's Fortune.

Awarded for reaching reputation level 20 with the Athena's Fortune faction and buying the promotion. Athena reputation is a lot easier to obtain than it was so this should not be too much of a grind now.

Legends of the Veil:
Complete 25 Veils with after getting a grade 5 Athena Emissary in that quest. Getting grade 5 emissary in this quest is very easy so will come naturally with completions assuming you don't sink. The quest is considered complete after putting the final Veil stone into the mask.

Complete 100 of the Legend of the Veil quests unlocked after becoming Pirate Legend. Can be tracked in-game under the Athena's Fortune commendation of the same name.

Skull of Destiny:
Skull of Destiny quests are exclusive to Pirate Legends. They are incredibly short quests where you follow a compass to an island and dig up the skull. Doing so once will unlock this achievement.

Current Guild level approximately level 344 (as of 16/09/2025).

• If you join the guild you are expected to use it and provide progress when sailing on High Seas; if your inactive you will be kicked, although you can rejoin later.
  
• You must currently have at least 80% achievement completion in this game to join - exceptions can be made if valid.
  
• Slots will be rotated for players to earn commendations if needed - let me know what commendations you need.
  
• If you waste my time, never once play for the guild after adding, or break the Pirate Code of Conduct you will be banned from joining/rejoining the guild.

For this achievement your guild must reach reputation level 100 and then you will get your first distinction upon levelling up through level 100 and then it will be reset to reputation level 1. Set sail for any guild that has achieved the first 101 levels of reputation and the achievement is yours.
Our guild can be used to obtain this achievement.

For this achievement you must complete all 10 Distinguished commendations for your guild.
This requires over 900 levels of guild reputation to be completed within a single guild. The commendations locked behind Distinction 10 (level 1000) are not required.
They are as follows:

Achieve guild reputation level 20 and equip all 5 parts of the Constant Navigator outfit from the Clothing Chest for the following tasks (Belt, Boots, Gloves, Trousers/Bottoms, Shirt):

• Dig up 50 treasure.
  
• Spot 10 Captained ships with your spyglass.
  
• Complete 10 Riddle Quests.

Our guild can be used to obtain this achievement.

Achieve guild reputation level 40 and equip all 5 parts of the Chef of the Seas outfit from the Clothing Chest for the following tasks (Boots, Gloves, Hat, Jacket, Trousers/Bottoms):

• Cook 25 dishes.
  
• Catch 10 Trophy Fish.
  
• Sell 10 cooked Kraken or Megalodon meat (burnt meat counts).

Our guild can be used to obtain this achievement.

Achieve guild reputation level 60 and equip all 6 parts of Blasted Cannoneer outfit from the Clothing Chest for the following tasks (Belt, Boots, Gloves, Hat, Shirt, Trousers/Bottoms):

• Land 200 cannon shots on ships (skeleton or player).
  
• Defeat 10 foes using a Cannon Rowboat. (Shooting phantoms at Sea Forts is probably the quickest method).
  
• Hit 15 masts with chainshots (player only).

Our guild can be used to obtain this achievement.

Achieve guild reputation level 80 and equip all 6 parts of the Heroic Helm outfit from the Clothing Chest for the following tasks (Belt, Boots, Gloves, Hat, Jacket, Trousers/Bottoms):

• Visit 10 islands with your ship.
  
• Defeat 40 Skeleton Ships or Ghost Ships.
  
• Defeat 5 Megalodons or Krakens.

Our guild can be used to obtain this achievement.

Level any Guild to reputation level 15 and then go to the Sovereign tent at any outpost and vote on the table to become a Guild Emissary (must be sailing on a Guild ship).
Our guild can be used to obtain this achievement.

If you are a captain (you own at least one ship) you can pledge that ship to a guild and unlock this achievement.

When you are part of a guild, either your own or someone else's, set sail on one of the ship's pledged to that guild. If you have trouble unlocking try another guild members ship.

Note: You can sell Fish and Meat to the Sovereigns at Outposts. Doing so will still progress the Hunter's Call commendations and achievements. You can also buy bait crates from Seaposts and the Merchant Alliance.

Awarded for reaching reputation level 50 with the Hunter's Call and purchasing the promotion. Note that you can sell Mermaid gems to the Hunter's Call to speed this up and once a month you can purchase a level from Larinna with doubloons.

This is by far one of the most time consuming achievements in the game, and that says a lot! You have to get all fish, meat and treacherous loot commendations to grade 5. This involves:

• Selling 50 of each non-rare fish variant (burnt, raw, under cooked, cooked all count).
  
  
• Selling 10 of each rare fish variant (burnt, raw, under cooked, cooked all count).
  
  
• Selling 50 perfectly cooked pieces of Meat (Chicken, Pig, Snake, Shark, Megalodon and Kraken).
  
  
• Selling 50 of the Treacherous Loot items (Old Skull, Old Boots, Fish Bones and Old Hats).

It is worth noting that shipwrecks often contain fish in barrels. Rowboats and Storage crates can also contain fish.

Awarded for delivering a night variant fish to the Hunter's Call. These fish can only be caught during the night and will glow different colours depending on species. If you are having trouble try selling the fish raw.

Awarded for selling a rare variant fish to the Hunter's Call. These include: Umber Splashtails, Bright Pondies, Raven Islehoppers, Bone Ancientscale, Bonedust Plentifin, Muddy Wildsplah, Forsaken Devilfish, Sand Battlegill, Snow Wrecker, and, Shadow Stormfish. If you are having trouble try selling the fish raw.

Awarded for selling 25 trophy fish to the Hunter's Call. Trophy fish are larger varieties of the normal fish and are harder and take longer to catch. You can track this under the commendation by the same name.

Awarded for delivering at least one of every kind of fish to the Hunter's Call. (Unlock Grade 1 commendations for all fish varieties).

Awarded for delivering at least one of every kind of meat to the Hunter's Call. (Unlock Grade 1 commendations for all meat types).

Awarded for selling an item of Treacherous loot to the Hunter's Call. (An Old Skull, Old Boot, Fish Bone or Old Hat). These are found when fishing with no bait and are rare.

Simply use your captains table to vote to dive to a Hunter's Call voyage (not a raid) and complete it to unlock this achievement.

Use the Hourglass of Fate on your ship's voyage table to vote for a faction of your choosing and either vote the war map to find a ship to attack, or wait until you get invaded by another player, and win. Sink those scurvy dogs!

Do the achievement "You Gotta Fight" but 100 times. This achievement tracks combined sinks from both factions so don't feel tied down to a specific faction.

This achievement is earned for sinking 4 player ships (either invading or using the War Map) back to back while a faction of your choice is voted for using the Hourglass of Fate. Essentially your crew must achieve a 4 ship kill streak via the Battle for the Sea of Thieves mechanics.

Sinking or cashing in your Sands of Fate at an emissary table will cancel your current streak.

Note: The achievement description or the requirement is bugged as 5 ship streak is needed and the achievement states 4. - Fixed on Dec 15th 2022.

You must reach rank 100 with the Guardians of Fortune progression tab under Reputation in your Pirate's Log and you must be a Pirate Legend .

Once you meet these criteria, head to the Pirate Lord in the Athena Hideout below any tavern and speak to him. He will open the door to the extended hideout area where you can earn the Blessing of Athena's Fortune and this achievement.

You must reach rank 100 with the Servants of Flame progression tab under Reputation in your Pirate's Log and you must be reputation level 75 with the Reaper's Bones .

Once you meet these criteria, head to the Servant of the Flame at the Reaper's Hideout and speak to him. He will open the elevator to the Reaper's hideout area where you can undergo the Ritual of the Flame and unlock this achievement.

A lot of these achievements are related to commendations that can be tracked in-game under the Bilge Rat commendation page for "The Flame Rises".


This achievement can be unlocked for defeating 'The Burning Blade' skeleton ship world event (designated by a small red tornado) and then choosing to pledge yourself as the new crew by boarding and voting on the table in the Captain's cabin.

Your old ship will scuttle and the Burning Blade will become your new ship, unlocking the achievement.


Defeat the Burning Blade ship to unlock this achievement. You can still pledge and earn this achievement.

A Blade of Souls will be awarded upon defeating the Burning Blade world event and sinking it. Take this loot item back to an outpost and sell it to any faction (including Athena's Fortune). You can scuttle, if pledged, and still get the sword.


To unlock this commendation (and thus the achievement) you must hit player ship(s) 3 times with the Ashen Roar attack on the Burning Blade ship. This attack is a front facing projectile that launches fire balls and can be activated by pulling a lever stationed next to the ships wheel.

To unlock this commendation (and thus the achievement) you must sink the Burning Blade world event that has been captured by another pirate crew while you are flying an Athena's Fortune emissary.

Grade V commendation/achievement requires this criteria to be completed 10 times.

This is by far the most annoying achievement in the update. You have to pledge yourself to the Burning Blade world event, complete 8 skeleton camps while you are in control and then go turn in the Burning Blade at the Reaper's Hideout, all whilst wearing the skeleton curse. You have to do this all 10 times!!!

The skeleton curse is obtained by reaching level 100 with the Servants of the Flame Hourglass PVP faction. Good luck!

This achievement and commendation is unlocked for completing the "Sizzling Sinker" achievement/commendation (see above) and also the "Secretive Stash" commendation which is unlocked for doing the following:

Sell the Blade of Souls with 3 or more rituals complete - you must sink a player controlled Burning Blade ship that has completed 3 skeleton camps, like the image here, BUT, this commendation is graded! Sinking/scuttling your own Burning Blade ship with 3 camps complete will also reward you with the sword that you can then sell.

Grade V commendation requires this criteria to be completed 20 times.


This achievement and commendation is unlocked for completing the "Playing the Part" achievement/commendation (see above) and also the "Feeding the Fire" commendation which is unlocked for doing the following:

Reach a streak of 4 rituals (skeleton camps) complete while sailing the Burning Blade - this means you must complete 4 skeleton camps while sailing the Burning Blade, BUT, this commendation is graded! Only 1 progression can be made per Burning Blade you have controlled.

Grade V commendation requires this criteria to be completed 10 times.

This achievement is unlocked for completing each of the Skeleton Camps once, either as part of the crew of the Burning Blade, or just by going to them whenever you want. You can also dive to skeleton camps from your voyage table for each faction.
There are 6 camps, located at the following:

• Picaroon Palms
  
• Lagoon of Whispers
  
• Blind Man's Lagoon
  
• Shiver Retreat
  
• Lookout Point
  
• Barnacle Cay

Awarded for activating Fort of the Damned. To achieve this you must have a Ritual Skull and all six colours of lantern from the Ferry of the Damned or a skull of destiny from an Athena voyage which is much easier and quicker.

The ritual skull can be obtained from Ashen Chests or dropped by skeleton fleets.

The lights are obtained from dying in six different ways and then can be collected after each death from the centre brazier on the Ferry of the Damned (The Well of Fates). You can store these in your ship lanterns. The colours and methods of obtaining are:

• Blue - Get killed by a shark or megalodon.
  
  
• Red - Get killed by fire damage or lava. (You can use your own firebombs).
  
  
• Green - Get killed by skeletons.
  
  
• White - Get killed by lightning in the storm. Make sure you have your sword equipped as this increases damage received from lightning.
  
  
• Purple - Get killed by poison from a snake bite.
  
  
• Pink - Get killed by another player. Alliance members do not count.

Once the lantern colours and ritual skull have been obtained light the correct colours in the Fort of the Damned tower and place the skull on the skeleton in the chair.

This will come naturally while participating in Fort of the Damned. You need to kill one of each six colours of skeletons that spawn. Crew members killing them count for you as well, although, alliance members do not. The colours are identical to the flames of fate colours above. The skeletons will be invulnerable unless a lantern with correct colour is lifted in their vicinity.

Awarded for completing the Fort of the Damned event, whether you summoned it or not. You must kill all skeletons and the final boss.

Awarded for completing the Fort of the Damned event 10 times in total. You can track this by the commendation by the same name. If you have multiple ritual skulls you can stack this event without having to regather the flames.

The Skull of Destiny can be obtained from a specific Pirate Legend voyage. They are able to produce all 6 Flames of Fate and can also be used as a Ritual skull so can be used to start Fort of the Damned.

Do this 3 times for the achievement.

You will not be awarded this achievement retroactively if you met the criteria for this achievement prior to Season 9.

Fort of Fortunes are random world events that appear on the Seas at the various Skull forts. They have a floating Skull in the sky above them with red eyes and a cracked front. They also play a global sound when they spawn.

Complete 3 of these worlds events by killing all skeleton waves and the Ashen lord and then put the key in the vault door for the achievement.

Note: Ashen Lords killed as part of the Fort of Fortune will progress the Ashen Winds achievements!

Ashen Winds is represented by a red tornado on top of an island. Here will be a boss that you must kill to complete the event. Kill each boss 5 times each for the achievements. It is random which boss it will be. The Ashen Lord at a Fort of Fortune will also contribute to these achievements.

As of Season 11 you can now dive to these World Events with the correct faction promotion purchased, so you can do these on-demand!

Awarded for defeating Captain Grimm 5 times total. You can monitor this under the Ashen Winds commendation page (Under Bilge Rats).

Awarded for defeating Red Ruth 5 times total. You can monitor this under the Ashen Winds commendation page (Under Bilge Rats).

Awarded for defeating Old Horatio 5 times total. You can monitor this under the Ashen Winds commendation page (Under Bilge Rats).

Awarded for defeating Warden Chi 5 times total. You can monitor this under the Ashen Winds commendation page (Under Bilge Rats).

Complete any Sea Fort and use the key dropped by the captain to open the treasury vault. There are two Sea Forts in each region (except Devil's Roar). They can also be dived to via your voyage table.

Find 100 items of loot hidden inside boxes, cupboards and chests within the Sea Forts. You can check your progress in the Bilge Rat - Sea Fort commendation page.

Gold pouches and the items in the main vault cupboards do not count. The key for the top room and the gem inside both count.

Simply keep doing Sea Forts until you have amassed 250 phantom kills. Normal phantoms that roam the world will not count. You can check your progress in the Bilge Rat - Sea Fort commendation page.

There are no achievements directly tied to the Hungering One, Shadowmaw, Crested Queen, Ancient Terror, or Shrouded Ghost Megalodons.

The Ancient Redmaw is a world event style megalodon that you can sail to. You need to throw a bucket of water over this megalodon when it comes close to your ship to unlock this achievement, no requirement to kill it or such.

The Barnacled Dread is a world event style megalodon that you can sail to. You need to approach this event with a Trident of Dark Tides on your ship (found washed up on islands, floating at sea, from shipwrecks or from shrines/treasuries) and kill one of the boarding electric eel enemies with this weapon to unlock this achievement, no requirement to kill the megalodon or such.

For this achievement you must find and hit any Megalodon variant or Kraken tentacles with hunting spears a total of 15 times. Hunting spears can be found in the world emergent-ly or bought from the Hunter's Call shop. They can be fired from cannons for better range. Emissary grade V for the Hunter's Call will reveal Megalodon locations.

These are the three achievements not related to the Reaper's Bones voyages or faction loot items.
You need to use Cannons of Rage for this achievement. These are guaranteed to be found inside the vaults of emergent Skeleton Forts, Forts of Fortune, and Forts of the Damned. You also have a chance to discover them in the treasuries of Sea Forts or washed up on island beaches.

To unlock this achievement you must complete the following criteria:

• Rageful Cannoneer - Defeat 150 enemies using a Cannon of Rage. Skeletons and other hostile NPCs count.
  
  
• Twice Cursed Cannoneer - Land 5 hits on an enemy ship with Cursed Cannonballs using a Cannon of Rage. Can be skeleton ships or player ships.
  
  
• Burning Bombardment - Land 20 hits on an enemy ship with firebombs using a Cannon of Rage. Can be skeleton ships or player ships.

You need Order of Bone and Blade skeletons for this achievement which can be dug up on any large island. To find an Order of Bone and Blade Skeleton on an island, look for a bony hand sticking out of the ground. The hand will also glint red from a distance, making it easier to spot.

You must complete all Unearthed Order of Bone and Blade Commendations below:

• Rusty Rescuer - Unearth 30 buried Order of Bones and Blade Skeletons on islands (will come naturally while getting the ones below).
  
  
• Wild Order, Ancient Order, Plentiful Order, and Roaring Order - Complete 10 quests in each region (The Wilds, Ancient Isles, Shores of Plenty and Devil's Roar) whilst accompanied by an Order of Bone and Blade Skeletons.
  
  
• Explosive Surprise - Give an Order of Bone and Blade Skeleton gunpowder to carry.
  
• Mobile Mortar - Give an Order of Bone and Blade Skeleton a Cannon of Rage to carry.

To unlock this achievement you must find emergent rowboats on islands and complete the following two criteria at least once:

• Dock a Rowboat with the Reaper’s Bones livery to your ship.
  
  
• Dock a Rowboat with the Order of Bone and Blade livery to your ship. (A black rowboat with a dark maroon trim and Skeleton Runes painted on it).

The Skull of Siren Song is a competitive voyage that randomly spawns in the emergent world. A ghostly quest will appear on your main ship mast when this quest is active to opt into it. All achievements are tracked by in-game Bilge Rat commendations apart from the one for sinking a players ship.

Hand in your first Skull of Siren Song to Captain Briggsy on the Skull of Siren Song voyage for "Novice of Siren Song" and hand in 30 of these Skulls to Briggsy for "Guardian of Siren Song" achievement.

Awarded for digging up 50 Siren Song chests and/or Siren Song keys from the two maps that Captain Briggsy gives you.

Awarded for combining 40 Chest of Siren Song and Siren Song Keys to reveal the Skull of Siren Song.

Awarded for sinking a players ship who currently has one of the key quest items aboard their ship. Can be the Skull, Key or Chest.

Most achievements for Captaincy will require you to own at least one ship of the following variety.

• Sloop - 250,000 gold
  
• Brigantine - 375,000 gold
  
• Galleon - 500,000 gold

You can save the Sailor (Default) cosmetics and this works for the achievement. Make sure to equip a flag as well. You do not need to equip a ship title. Below is a list of items. Note: Galleon needs more items saved.

• Hull, Sails, Cannons, Wheel, Capstan, Figurehead, Flare.
  
• Rug, Table, Drapes, Bed.
  
• Ship Crest, Log Book, Banner & Title.
  
• Chair, Chandelier, Curtains (Galleon only).

Pirate Milestones can be obtained across any type of ship and you don't even need to be the current Captain. For this achievement, reach 50 within a single Milestone category for your Pirate.

Milestone Categories:

• The Gold Seeker (Levelled by selling items).
  
• The Voyager (Levelled by completing quests/voyages/Tall Tales).
  
• The Emissary (Levelled by selling items as an Emissary).
  
• The Hunter (Levelled by eating, cooking and catching fish).
  
• The Feared (Levelled by completing World Events and killing PvE).
  
• The Rogue (Levelled by playing music, sleeping, sitting etc).
  
• The Ill-Fated (Levelled by taking ship damage, dying etc).
  
• The Servant (Levelled by participating in PvP battles for the Reaper's).
  
• The Guardian (Levelled by participating in PvP battles for Athena's Fortune).

Ship Milestones are only progressed while you are Captaining one of your own vessels. They are exclusive to that ship. All crew members can contribute to these Milestones. You must reach 50 in a Milestone category for that ship to unlock a Legendary title. (This is connected with the achievement "A Fleeting Fancy", see below).
For Milestone categories see above achievement.

Cherished Trinkets are unlocked upon reaching Class 30 for most Pirate Milestones. You have to purchase all the tiers of the trinket with Cherished being the most expensive. Some trinket rewards, like gold earned for example, will come naturally with prolonged play so obtaining 1 cherished trinket for the achievement will not be too difficult.
It costs a total of 300,000 gold to obtain a Cherished Trinket (all tiers included).

For this achievement you will need some purchased trinkets to place on your ship. You start with a default of 5. Find 15 slots on your ship where you can place a variety of these trinkets and the achievement is yours. Places include ledges, walls, stove etc.

The Sovereigns have a tent at each of the 7 main outposts (in the tall purple structure). Only Captains and their crew can turn in loot to them. You must turn in 200 items as a Captain for this achievement. They accept all loot for the main three trading companies as well as Athena's Fortune.

You can either sneak aboard someone's ship, alliance them to read it or just sink and steal it to read. They must be a Captained ship to have the Log. You can spyglass ships to see if they are Captained (they will have a name pop-up). Captain's Log can be found next to the voyage table.

New unlock criteria: Simply complete any 30 voyages total while sailing a captained ship.
This achievement was changed on 23/01/2024.

After logging in to a server as a Captain, or with a Captain in your crew, you must spend 10 days at sea. It is cumulative across play sessions. A day in Sea of Thieves is 24 minutes.

At the Shipwright you can purchase item supplies as a Captain. Buy all the types of supplies for this achievement. Costs about 18,250 gold. (Wood, Cannonballs, Food, Meat, Bait, Throwables).

To unlock this achievement, purchase your first ship as a captain and set sail with it. You must have the required gold to purchase your first ship.

Join a friend's Ship who is currently a Captain. You can also try your luck with Open Crews if you do not have any friends on the seas.

You can buy one of each ship type initially. To then buy another ship of the same type you must reach a legendary Milestone within one of the categories for the type of ship you want to buy again. See "A Seasoned Ship". You must own 15 ships for this achievement so it will be very time consuming as you must reach a legendary milestone 12 times assuming you purchase a sloop, brigantine and galleon.

One of these chests will be awarded for completing a Fort of Fortune at the moment but the location of these chests changes each Season.

World Events that you dive to as a raid will not award these chests.

You need to sell 30 of these Chests of Fortune for this achievement. You can track this using the Bilge Rat commendation called "Fortune's Favour". They can be handed in to the Gold Hoarder's, Reaper's Bones and the Sovereigns if you are a captain.

Previously located at the Fort of Fortune, Fleet of Fortune, and Fort of the Damned.

All 9 achievements will be earned by obtaining the achievement/commendation "Legend of the Sunken Kingdom" for completing all 31 of the commendations under 'The Sunken Kingdom' Bilge Rat page.

For all commendations all you need to do is:

• Set foot in each of the six shrines.
  
• Complete each of the treasuries at least once.
  
• Sell various pieces of coral loot at varying quantities. (Check the Bilge Rat Page, two achievements for this)
  
• Kill 250 Sirens and 250 Ocean Crawlers.
  
• Find all 30 journals (5 per shrine and an achievement per shrine). Refer to RareThief for more information on locations.
  
• Finishing the voyage from the quest table after finding all the journals above.

Awarded for completing the above commendations. You will earn all other achievements from this update (all below) while earning this achievement.

Unlocked for selling 30 Breath of the Sea (from coral bottle quests found on island beaches, floating barrels in the sea or shipwrecks - they glow blue), 50 coral skulls, 25 coral chests, 25 coral relics and 50 coral coffers. Any trading company counts including Reaper's Bones (& Hunter's Call for the Breath of the Sea).


Sell 30 Breath of the Sea. See above.

Most of these achievements share their names with the Bilge Rat commendations and can be tracked in-game.
Another crew must have buried some treasure and you must steal their map bundle which is a physical item that can be picked up from their Voyage table. Place it onto your ships Voyage/Captain Table for the achievement. You can retrieve it from sinking them.

Cannon Rowboats are randomly found across the seas. They are quite distinctive and have a cannon on the front.

I recommend docking one to your ship when you stumble across one and then sail around like normal and hope for a Kraken or Megalodon encounter. You can use it while it is still docked on your ship.
You must attack them 25 times.

Shoot five Fireworks in a singular night-cycle. Fireworks can be found in barrels or bought from the Merchant Alliance.

Vote on the Tall Tale 'Shores of Gold' and follow it through to the Gold Hoarder boss fight. After defeating him sit on the Golden Throne in the boss arena using the sit mechanic.

Unlocked for going on another players ship and sleeping in their bed. Sneaking, fighting or making allies are your options!

Unlocked for reaching level 5 in Season 5. These dice emotes can be bought from Larinna at the Tavern for 300 doubloons. Equip the D20 Emote from the Vanity chest, and keep using it until you roll a 20. It's a 5% chance so just keep at it.

This commendations is awarded for burying 25 treasures. This commendation is graded.

This commendations is awarded for submitting 25 treasures maps to the quest board at Outposts. I recommend doing this alongside the commendation 'Hider of Sizeable Stashes'. This commendation is graded.

This commendations is awarded for uncovering 25 treasures from the maps available on the map quest board at Outposts.
All servers will be populated with these maps even if no one has buried anything. This commendation is graded.

You must do all the above as well as these additional commendations:

• Hider of Sizeable Stashes - Create a Treasure Stash map that leads to five treasures on the same island 25 times. (I recommend using commodity crates from the Merchant Alliance!) You do not actually have to hand in the quest maps.
  
  
• Benevolent Benefactor - You donated a Treasure Stash map that has a huge number of treasures marked. (Will likely come with above).
  
  
• Burying the Past - Bury valuable treasures that were stolen from another crew.
  
  
• Nothing To See Here - Bury a valuable treasure while another crew is at the same location (same island as another crew).
  
  
• Heir of the Trickster - Set traps by burying gunpowder kegs 10 times (easy at a fort).
  
  
• Hider of Legendary Secrets - Bury 20 Athena's Fortune treasures.
  
  
• Small but Mighty - Shoot another ship using a Cannon Rowboat 25 times.
  
  
• Hunting Boat - Defeat enemies using a Cannon Rowboat 25 times. Skeletons/Ocean Crawlers/Phantoms or enemy players count.
  
  
• Skies of Friendship - Set off fireworks while in an Alliance.
  
  
• Gunpowder, Treason and Plot - Start a fire on another crew's ship by setting off a firework.
  
  
• Warning Shot - Set off a Signal Flare when another crew is nearby.
  
  
• Down With the Ship - Sit in the Captain's Chair of your Galleon as it sinks. Load into a Galleon and go and sit in the Captain's Chair. Vote to scuttle the ship in the My Crew page and the commendation will unlock.
  
  
• Seat Of Thieves - Take a seat at a tavern table alongside other pirates. Works with your own crew.
  
  
• Rest of Legends - Take a seat anywhere in the Pirate Legend Hideout.
  
  
• Tavern Crawl - Take a seat in all 7 Taverns.
  
  
• Moment of Reflection - Take a seat at the end of a dock while the sun is setting.
  
  
• A New Day - Take in the view atop the highest peak in The Wilds (atop Old Faithful Isle) while the sun rises (5 AM).
  
  
• Catching Rays - Take in the view atop the highest peak in The Ancient Isles (atop Plunder Valley) at noon.
  
  
• Adventurer's Eve - Take in the view atop the highest peak in The Shores of Plenty (atop Smuggler's Bay) while the sun sets (8 PM).
  
  
• A Golden Throne - Take a seat in the Treasury during the 'Captains of the Damned' Tall Tale.
  
  
• This is fine - Take a seat aboard your ship while it's on fire. Fire bomb your ship and then sit down.
  
  
• Hot Seat - Take a seat on an island in The Devil's Roar while its volcano erupts.

Each faction with an Emissary flag in Sea of Thieves has an achievement for placing in their respective highest ledger tier 5 times (apart from Guilds).

So what does this mean? Well under each factions page in the Pirate Log you can see the Ledger below the commendations. To reach the highest tier in that faction you must sell loot to them while having an emissary flag raised for them. The higher tier your emissary flag the more emissary value and hence progress you get.


The Emissary ledger is essentially a leaderboard that ranks players on their emissary value gained and it resets at the end of each month. For these achievement you must be in the highest tier (top 25% of players for that faction) for the month 5 times. So these achievements will take 5 months each which is a lengthy time commitment. Being in the top 25% is not actually as bad as it sounds.
Each of the highest tiers has a different name per faction.
As this is dependent upon players and month length the value needed each month can vary a bit.

There are a total of 20 unique tomes in Sea of Thieves. Each tome as an achievement tied to the first time you sell it and then one achievement for each of the 4 sets. You sell tomes to Larinna outside the Tavern at any outpost or to the Reaper's Bones.
To get tomes you need to open Ashen Chests with an Ashen Key. Ashen chests/keys can be earned from various activities like Skeleton Forts, Skeleton Ships, Ashen Guardians etc. What tome(s) you get is completely RNG.

Tall Tales are the story element of Sea of Thieves and can be found at various locations over the map. Each Tall Tale has two achievements. You get an achievement for completing each one and then another for completing all commendation for that tall tale. The commendations can be monitored under the tall tale page of the pirate log.

Most involve finding Journals or completing the Tall tale multiple times etc. The journal locations are listed with each Tall tale but I recommend using the Sea of Thieves Wiki if you are looking for extra help with journal locations or puzzles.

Awarded for completing the tutorial accessible on the main menu. Does not have an achievement for all commendations.

Complete the Shroudbreaker Tall tale a total of 5 times and Discover all of Mercia's Journals.

• Found on Uncharted Island (N-13) stashed between three rocks on the beach.
  
• Found in a cave atop the Ancient Spire Outpost.
  
• In a camp by the Northern Cannon on Devil's Ridge.
  
• Inside an overgrown shack in the middle of Thieves' Haven.

Complete the The Seabound Soul Tall tale a total of 3 times, collect all Ashen Artefacts and Discover the Ashen Dragon Journals.
Journals:

• Found at Shipwreck Bay, in the Captain’s Quarters of the Blackwyche, resting on a box by a chair.
  
  
• Found at Shiver Retreat. The Journal is on top of a Barrel Between two rock formations in the middle of the Island.
  
  
• The Third Journal is found at Liar's Backbone. The Journal is up the hill, nested between the roots of a dead tree.
  
  
• The Fourth Journal is at Scorched Pass. The Journal is placed on a single small rock between three Palm trees by the larger Eastern Rock formation.
  
  
• The Final Journal is at Flintlock Peninsula. This Journal is placed with two Barrels found on the north-east side of the Volcano, near the Island's Beacon.

Ashen Artefacts (Use Lantern):

• Found buried on Tri-Rock Isle.

Complete the Heart of Fire Tall tale a total of 3 times and Discover Stitcher Jim's Journals..
Journals:

• Found inside Stitcher Jim's Lair on Liar's Backbone. It's in the middle of the cave, placed on a makeshift wooden shelf.
  
  
• Found inside Flameheart's Lair on The Devil's Thirst. This one is located in the central room with the three doorways leading to three distinct paths. The Journal nests on rocks by the middle Path of the Forsaken Flame.
  
  
• Found down the Path of the Forsaken Flame (second door - Green).The Journal is placed on a pile of skulls in the trap room after the first Skeleton room.
  
  
• Found inside the Path of the Eternal King (first door - Blue). The Journal is placed on rocks beside a pile of skulls above a lava pool in the trap room after the first Skeleton room.
  
  
• Found inside the Path of the Burning Heart (third door - Red). The Journal is in the final alcove of the last trap room with spikes coming out of walls.

Note: You can either die or return to ship at certain points to go down the different paths to collect all the journals you may have missed.

These Tall Tales are found at the Castaway's shack on each outpost. Each Tall Tale has two achievements. You get an achievement for completing each one and then another for completing all commendation for that tall tale. The commendations can be monitored under the tall tale page of the pirate log.

The journal locations are listed with each Tall tale but I recommend using the Sea of Thieves Wiki if you are looking for extra help with journal locations or puzzles. There are also side quests in some Tall Tales.

Complete the 'A Pirate's Life' Tall Tale and collect all 10 journals, as well as complete the side quest.

Note: Do all this before summoning the Ferry of the Damned with the lighthouse!
Side quest/Commendations:

• Dig up Dougie who can be found buried under the dock (follow the gold trail). -> 'Raising the Dead' unlocked
  
  
• Go to the shipwreck with the skeleton in bed. Open the curtains and then light all the lanterns on the exterior ledge. Read the map in his hand and go dig the X (in front of the tavern).
  
  
• Return the treasure to Dougie and get the medallion. -> 'Treasure for the Dead' unlocked
  
  
• Back at the pulley platforming section, move the platforms so you can access a cave opening in the side of the rock face and find the Special Recipe -> 'A Powerful Thirst' unlocked. Return this to the chess skeletons near the tavern.
  
  
• After putting down the recipe, place the Cursed Captain on the headless body and then place Dougies Medallion on the table. This will give you the Ship's Key.
  
  
• The Ship's Key opens the ship door near the pulley platforms where there is gold to loot inside and also the commendation. -> 'Ship of Thieves' unlocked
  
  
• On the ships deck (same ship as above), rotate the sails so the brazier can be seen from the top of the lighthouse.
  
  
• Now head to the top of the lighthouse BUT do NOT summon the Ferry of the Damned. Turn the lighthouse to face the ship where you looted the gold and light the brazier. This raises the bridge near the start. Proceed there. -> 'Secret of the Grave' unlocked
  
  
• All around the ship wreck here you can find the five Headless Monkey journals. They are all on the wreck and easy to locate. -> 'The Crew of the Headless Monkey' unlocked

Cursed Captain's Journals:

• Found in the room with the skeletons playing chess.
  
• Found atop the lighthouse on shelf.
  
• Found on the top deck of the Tavern building.
  
• Found inside the room with the light/curtain puzzle next to the skeleton in bed.
  
• Found inside the Cursed Captain's cabin.

Complete the Tall Tale and complete all commendations. Most the commendations are unmissable. There are 5 journals of the Silver Blade's Captain and also a hidden chest of Everlasting Sorrow to locate for the other commendations.

Journals of the Silver Blade Captain:

• Found in the first siren statue puzzle room behind some wooden wreckage.
  
• Found after raising the water to the highest point while ascending the puzzle room. Swim into an alcove to find the journal. (Only accessible after flooding the room).
  
• Found after entering through the big underwater stone door with the siren statues outside. The journal is found in the wreckage straight after the door.
  
• Found next to the Siren with the Yellow orb in the next puzzle room. Swim in to the water opening and the journal is on the ship wreckage.
  
• In the pulley puzzle room inside the cabin of the hanging wooden wreckage.

Chest of Everlasting Sorrow Commendations:

• Firstly, locate the key to the Silver Blade. This is found within the room with the pulley puzzles where you raise platforms to reach higher levels. The Key is hidden inside the mouth of a secret red lit tunnel.
  
  
• Proceed through the Tale with the Key until you are on the Silver Blade with the Kraken encounter. Use the Key on the cabin door and obtain the Chest of Everlasting Sorrow ->'Chest of Sorrow' unlocked.
  
  
• After you defeat the Kraken, take the Chest of Everlasting Sorrow. Continue until you reach an underwater tunnel. Go through and shoot the coral to open the barrier and jump across the stone pillars. Put the chest down in front of the large door with the red coral. This will slowly open the door. Read the five stone inscriptions. ->'Tale of Eternal Sorrow' unlocked.

Complete the Tall Tale and all commendations.

Sea of the Damned Journals:
Each Journal only reveals after lighting a lantern/torch/brazier with your lantern first.

• In the swamp area, light a torch next to a rocking chair in one of the huts.
  
• In the swamp area, head south-east to the hanging skeleton cage. Light the torch and knock down the cage.
  
• In the swamp area, south of the journal above. Light the torch and follow the torch trail into a sunken boat.
  
• In the Fort of Lost Souls, found inside the well. After jumping down, climb onto the ledge and light the lantern in the skeletons hand.
  
• In the Fort of Lost Souls, found next to a skeleton inside a prison. Light the torch in the courtyard and then climb around the structure to drop down from above later.

Townsfolk Journals:

• Past Carlos being dunked into the well, inside the clothes shop, near the entrance.
  
• Continue through and find the journal on top a box next to a tiny wooden ship toy after going down some steps.
  
• After rowing the row boat with the skeletons in down the river and past the pulley gate. Up on the side near the shooting ghost pirates.
  
• Before using the pulley lifts to by-pass the gate, go up the massive flight of stairs and find the journal near the two ghosts on a box.
  
• While leaving the town, fight the first set of phantoms and then drop down along the path and the journal can be found on the wall over looking the bridge.

Missable Commendations:

• Treasure for Eternity - Grab the Mercado Key from the edge of the well. Unlock and light the torch in the window of the Mercado. Row the boat around the river until you see the phantoms digging. Dig up the item and return it to the skeletons in the row boat.
  
• Strike Yer Colours! - At the Town, use the cannon on the wall to fire a cannonball at the ghost ship. This one seems a little buggy at the moment.
  
• Key to Freedom - When you grab the keys from the dogs food bowl, free the ghost prisoners before opening the door on the main path.

Complete the Tall Tale and unlock all commendations.

Hidden Journals in the Coral Fortress (in order):

• On the right after going through the stone door, after Jack uses the locket. On some ship wreckage pieces.
  
• While swimming through the area after the first journal, on the left atop some white coral.
  
• After the geyser/pulley puzzle, hop down before continuing to find the journal on a lower ledge.
  
• On the left in the organ room.
  
• After the Siren fight, dive into the water and find the journal inside one of the cages.
  
• Under the wooden platform with ladders.
  
• After the ocean crawler fight, on the left beside some yellow tube coral.
  
• In the room after raising the water with a Siren Puzzle, to the North the journal is resting with some blue coral.
  
• In the Brethren Court, on the ramp entering the court on the right hand side.
  
• Resting against a chair at the Brethren Court.

Missable Commendations:

• Secret Waters - Hold 'D' (right) while descending the first slide into the Flying Dutchman's area.
  
  
• Dark Desires - Do not interrupt the Brethren Court meeting and listen to the dialogue.
  
  
• Heart of a Thief - In the Brethren Court room rotate the blocks to resemble the Siren Murals found during the Tale.

Complete the Tall Tale and unlock all commendations. The only missable commendations are the journals and the ones for destroying 20 Ghost Ships and 10 Siren Statues. You can only get a max of 5 Statues per Tale. The Ghost Ships that are destroyed in 3 cannonballs are the only ones that count (not the later ships).

Journals of Forsaken Souls:

• Next to the third ghost you come across with the candles after ascending the spire.
  
• Left after the wooden planked bridge next to a ghost.
  
• Inside the brig you come across up the spire. Under a plant on the left.
  
• North-West corner after jumping down a hull into some water.
  
• From the fourth journal, climb up the wreck behind and next to the ghost on the top deck.

The "Journals of the Black Pearl" are found on the Black Pearl at the end of the Tall Tale. They are easy to find and just spread over the ship.

Unlocked if you unlock all commendations for the five 'A Pirate's Life' Tall Tales. ('A Pirate's Life', 'The Sunken Pearl', 'Captains of the Damned', 'Dark Brethren' and 'Lords of the Sea'). If you follow all the above you will get this achievement.

Unlocked for completing the Tall Tale for the first time.

Unlocked for completing all 16 Commendations within the first Monkey Island Tall Tale.
Here are some info for the missable commendations:

• Pop Up Pirates - Defeat 10 enemies using the Root Beer. The Root Beer is found in Guybrush's Bedroom chest.
  
  
• In Good Company - When in the Scumm Bar, take a seat.
  
  
• A Guided Tour - Before putting Murray's Skull on the body you must carry him around the town for him to comment on locations. Most easily missed are the ones atop the mountain and docks.
  
  
• Elected Legend - Interact with any of the Election posters. There is one in the Scumm Bar.
  
  
  
• Groggy Dog Story - You must exhaust all 6 dialogue lines for Spiffy the dog in the Scumm Bar. He has 4 after first arriving, one after you feed him the meat and the final one unlocks after battling LeChuck's ghost pirates.
  
  
• Memoirs of a Legend, Vol. I - There are ten sitting locations that recreate scenes from the Monkey Island games. These are marked by the presence of an ink and quill. Sit in all 10 for the commendation.
  The most easily missed is on the roof of a building opposite the church.
  
  
  
• Mêlée Island Historian - Find all the Pieces of Eight possible and purchase the book from the street vendor. He will reappear after fighting LeChuck's men and triggering the Mojo dialogue.

Complete the Tall Tale once for this achievement.

Unlocked for completing all 17 Commendations within the second Monkey Island Tall Tale.
Here are some info for the missable commendations:

• Spectacular Superstar - Complete the circus performance within 25 seconds. There is a board in the centre that has your best time. Not too hard when you know the routine and have the cannon ready. This is not shared with your crew.
  
  
• Sword Master - Use all 20 dialogue retorts in Insult Sword Fighting. Should come naturally during the story.
  
  
• Yo-ho-ho, and... - At Stan's Boat Shop interact with the Grog vending machine once you have pieces of eight from the circus and drink the grog.
  
  
• Gainful Unemployment - Upon arriving to the Island speak to the cook at the back of the Scumm Bar.
  
  
• The Beast Whisperer - During Meathook's quest, when you obtain the parrot make sure you pet it while carrying it.
  
  
• Stantastic Voyage - When you have locked Stan in the wardrobe you can go to the side and push it into the water for this commendation.
  
  
• Escape from Mêlée Island - Find all 5 journals within the Tall Tale. They are found all over the new part of the island.
  
  • One is located at Stan's near a rowboat.
    
  • One is located next to a rock on the path behind the mansion.
    
  • One is located near the downed bridge in the forest.
    
  • One is located on the wooden scaffolding on the rear of the mountain.
    
  • One is on a broken cart between the circus and Stan's.
  
  
• Memoirs of a Legend, Vol. II - There are ten sitting locations that recreate scenes from the Monkey Island games. These are marked by the presence of an ink and quill. Sit in all 10 for the commendation.
  There are almost always two at each main location, usually inside and one outside. The most easily missed is where you complete the insult sword fighting boss against Ribsy.

Complete the Tall Tale once for this achievement.

Unlocked for completing all 16 Commendations within the third and final Monkey Island Tall Tale.
Here are some info for the missable commendations:

• No Fruit-Picker Required - Use the rock launcher in the "Primitive art" puzzle to hit the large banana tree on the beach.
  
  
• Whoops... - Park your ship in a bay where the "Primitive art" rock launch puzzle can hit it. It only creates a single low-tier hole.
  
  
  
• The Castaway's Musings - Find all 10 of Castaway's notes around the island. They are all before entering LeChuck's lair (the giant monkey stone).
  
  
• Ghost Writing - Find all 5 journals within the Tall Tale. They are all found within LeChuck's lair (the cave system) before boarding the ship at the end. They are a glowing blue colour.
  
  
• Memoirs of a Legend, Vol. III - There are ten sitting locations that recreate scenes from the Monkey Island games. These are marked by the presence of an ink and quill. Sit in all 10 for the commendation.
  There are 8 on the main island (one after opening the gate to the giant stone monkey head) and two in the underground tunnels (one at the start and one at the end before boarding the ship).

Unlocked for doing all the above achievements.

Ashen Lords can be found at either a Ashen Winds world event or a Fort of Fortune. The final killing blow must come from the double barrel pistol which you can equip from your armoury box on your ship. Easiest way is to dive to a Ashen Winds raid voyage and use the double barrel pistol on the boss during the third and final phase.

Skeleton Lords can be found from Skeleton Fort world events, Order of Souls bounty voyages or Fort of the Damned. The final killing blow must come from a throwing knife which you can equip from your armoury box on your ship. Easiest way is to do an Order of Souls bounty voyage for a Skeleton Lord and only using thrown throwing knives on the boss.

Krakens are random encounters that spawn after a world event has been finished. They will spawn randomly on a ship in open waters when no active world event is present. You must hit a kraken tentacle with a scattershot which can be found throughout the Sea of Thieves in resource locations.

For this achievement, you must have a skeleton summoned by your Bone Caller throwable kill another crews Bone Caller skeleton. Bone Callers are found at skeleton fort resource barrels or storage crates from sunken Skeleton ships.

If you can find a player who doesn't mind assisting with this achievement it will be easier but you can also try and get it during naval or island PvP as Bone Callers work for both.

The Horn of Fair Winds can be obtained from Siren Shrines and Treasuries as well as found inside shipwrecks. Once obtained, use the blowing function of the horn while aiming straight down to cushion a landing from a height. This works from your crows-nest, even on a sloop.

Harpoons that are attached to a solid object can be traversed by interacting with either end. You must traverse 5 km across harpoons using the tightrope feature. This is not tied to a commendation so there is no in-game tracking although you can track it via Xbox Achievement progress.

Large islands that are difficult to traverse have ziplines in the Sea of Thieves. Islands include Thieve's Haven, Ancient Spire Outpost, The Crooked Masts, etc. Use one of these ziplines in the game world while holding a treasure chest (Gold Hoarder loot item).

Block an incoming attack and then hit your opponent within 5 seconds of blocking. You can use your own crew despite no actual interactions.

Have one of your attacks blocked by an opponent and then be struck by them within 5 seconds. You can use your own crew despite no actual interactions.

Land a heavy attack on an enemy player and knock them off the deck of their ship. People have reported this achievement as a little tricky to unlock. Try seeing if you can meet a friendly player to help with this achievement.

Shoot and kill an enemy player from behind with a blunderbuss. Just like a coward.

Using the Grapple Gun, bring an enemy player from their ship to yours. The Grapple Gun is a tool (can be equipped in your Ship's armoury box) introduced in Season 14 which allows you to traverse the world and also pull players and loot to you like a harpoon. Use the Grapple Gun to pull another crew's player from their ship to your own ship to unlock this achievement.

Using a Lure Dart, hit a skeleton holding a Gunpowder Barrel. Lure darts are an ammo type that can be selected while using the blowpipe weapon from an armoury box. Simply hit a skeleton (in the body not the keg) which is holding a gunpowder barrel with a Lure dart 25 times! Can be the same skeleton!

Kill snakes with Poison Darts. Snakes can be found on many islands. Equip the blowpipe weapon from an armoury box and select the ammo type then find and kill some snakes! 25 must be killed!

Using a Black Powder Dart, ignite a group of 3 or more Phantoms under the influence of a Lure Dart. Black powder darts are a type of ammo for the blowpipe weapon that can be equipped from an armoury box. They explode with an AOE that sets enemies on fire. First use a lure dart (another ammo type) to lure three phantoms into the same area (Sea Forts work well) and then use a black powder dart to ignite them!

Crouch around on a skeleton or other player's ship and walk around. You must go 1,500 metres. You must remain undetected so the rear balcony of a galleon is a good place on skeleton ships.

On an enemy ship, equip a wearable disguise (barrel and Sailor's Chest are unlocked by default) and hide on their ship and sneak around. You must go 450 metres.

Hang from the shipwrecks at Galleon's Grave, Shipwreck Bay, Morrow's Peak Outpost, Discovery Ridge and Thieves' Haven. Go to the islands listed and find the ship wreck's on those islands. While crouching look for places where you can hang off each of the 5 ship wreck's to gain progression to the achievement.

Have a pirate set off a trap on your ship loaded with a red flare. Traps are throwable items that can be found in resource barrels across the Sea of Thieves. Once found, throw one onto the ground on your ship and place a red flare into it (your ship will start stocked with some of these). Then when a player walks over it, the trap will trigger and the achievement will unlock. Reportedly using a lure dart to shoot the trap with a red flare in it aboard your ship will trigger the achievement!

This achievement is awarded for discovering the final Glitterbeard journal. You need 8 players for this achievement so you will need to befriend lots of people on a server.

Once you have people willingly assembled you need to head to Plunder Valley and locate a tree with lots of bottles on it (it's on the north west side). There are 8 spots marked around the tree, each player has to stand on one of the marked spots with a musical instrument in their hands.

The players need the specific instruments equipped and the shanty played must be "Becalmed":

• West & East side: Banjo
  
• North & South: Hurdy Gurdy
  
• Southeast & Northwest: Concertina
  
• Northeast & Southwest: Drum

The time must be after sunset (roughly between 10 pm and 11 pm), you have approximately 10-30 secs after the sun goes down. Don't stop playing, and don't move! The bottles will start to glow if you are doing it right.

After you have gone through the ordeal above, a tribute to a member of the Rare team who passed away in 2020 will follow. The final journal, and the achievement, can be found in the opening behind the tree inside the hideout that opens.

This is a hidden achievement.

Here are achievements that are less commonly earned or require a little simple planning.

Unlocked for reaching level 100 with any Trading Company and then earning a Distinction for that trading company by levelling up once more to reset that Company's level to 1. Each main Trading Company can have 5 total Distinctions. (Excluding Hunter's Call).

The faction tutorials can be found at the bottom of the voyage options for each of the base Trading Company's on the voyage table aboard your ship. Complete each one for an achievement.

Play a musical instrument while aboard your sinking ship. You can obtain this by voting to scuttle your ship under the 'My Crew' page on the pause menu.

You need to shoot your self out of a cannon on a ship onto the deck of another ship. It is recommended to form an alliance with someone and ask to try this. You can also get it by attacking an enemy vessel by shooting out your cannon onto their ship.

Landing on a Skeleton sloop or Galleon also works for this achievement if you are having trouble with other players.

You need to have 20 chests stored on your ship at the same time. It is recommended doing a Gold Hoarder Vault to obtain lots of chests.

Throw a bucket of vomit over an enemy player that is holding a sword. This achievement cannot be gained from your own crew members. To collect vomit in a bucket hold the bucket in your hand while throwing up. You can vomit easily by eating fish bait (i.e. worms, leeches or grubs).

Befriend another crew and drink some grog while in the Tavern at an outpost. The hard part is getting another crew to join you.

Each time you buy a promotion with a faction you will be able to buy various items from them. At reputation level 45 a trading company will offer you their highest tier item. You need to keep purchasing the lowest level item up until level 45 and then the achievement will unlock.

The Kraken will randomly attack your ship when there is no current world event. A musical queue will play and the water will turn black around your ship and you will become stationary. Tentacles will rise out of the water and you must fend them off with cannons and guns.

Awarded for sailing into a storm at night with every lantern on your ship extinguished. Can be got on any boat, make sure you turn off every lantern though.

Earned for using the 'Pirate Salute' emote (might be called 'Make Friends Salute') with another pirate. Can be done with your own crew. This emote is unlocked by default. Hold Z by default to bring up the emote wheel.

You will need to befriend another crew on a server and then race your ships along side one another without firing cannons. You need to be travelling same direction for a couple of minutes. This achievement is a little troublesome and may pop some time later after you have tried the achievement. It can be done in an alliance.

Awarded for having 5 players from any number of crews playing musical instruments with one another in perfect harmony.

Cook any food item on a island campfire at night. Place wood and raise lantern to set the fire.

Awarded for killing a shark with a gunpowder keg. I recommend finding a keg on an island and wait in the water for one to spawn. They have increased chances around naval combat and shipwrecks of spawning. Then when the shark is charging you, detonate the keg and swim after it.

An achievement can be unlocked for visiting each of the in-game outposts except Morrow's Peak.

Kill a skeleton that is eating a banana to heal.

Sink another player's ship or a skeleton ship.

Use the 'Pirate Chat' - E by default - while on the Ferry of the Damned with another player present. (Can be your crew).

Vote on a Voyage put down by a member of your crew.

Cash in a stolen Captain chest.

Awarded for earning 10 commendations from different factions. Will come with natural progression.

Perform a handbrake turn with the ship. Fully lock the wheel left or right and then anchor.

Have all sails angled to catch the wind.

Buy your very first promotion within a faction. You can buy the first one after hitting reputation level 5.

Drink grog until you start vomiting while drunk.

Set sail for the first time.

Unmissable if you actually play the game. Increase any faction reputation by 1.

Reach reputation level 25 with any faction and purchase the respective promotion.

Earn 10 titles. Each promotion with a faction will give you a title. There are many titles to earn and getting them should come easily with progression.

Very tough achievement. You need to eat a banana.

Awarded for having a chest stolen or giving another crew a chest and letting them cash it in.

Burn an item of food on the fire. Ship fire or campfire both work.

Eat raw meat/fish until you become sick.

Eat all the types of fruit in the game. Bananas, Coconuts, Pomegranates, Mangoes, and Pineapples.

From the clothing shop at an outpost purchase a peg-leg, an eyepatch, a hat and a hook of any variety. Equip them from the clothing chest to unlock the achievement.

At any outpost go to the weaponsmith shop and purchase any variety of Eye of Reach (Sniper Rifle).

At any outpost go to the weaponsmith shop and purchase any variety of Blunderbuss.

The shipwright can be found on the dock near the Merchant Alliance faction at any outpost. Purchase a single ship cosmetic for this achievement.

The Arena was removed on March 10th, 2022 along with the achievements from Steam.
They still exist as "Legacy" achievements on Xbox/Microsoft accounts.
PlayStation never received Arena Trophies due to the port coming later in the games life cycle.

Any achievement/trophy in this guide marked with means this achievement/trophy is required for the Pirate Perfectionist platinum trophy on PlayStation. 60 in total.
