Modding or Mod is short for Modification. Modding a game is to simply click, copy and replace folders, scripts and applications. When Modding, it cannot always be good and some may harm you game. For example: in Game Dev Tycoon the Multiplayer Mod requires a back up folder or else it will severly damage your save files. Also, when replacing Official Game files, like the game's scripts, make sure to place them where they are safe and you are likely to remember where they are. Also, to remember that a file has been replaced click rename, go to the beginning of the file and add MOD and then press the Enter key on your keyboard. Now you are ready to go to step 1.

Make sure to have the game closed when doing this. First off, go to your Steam Library and right click on Game Dev Tycoon. Then right at the bottom of the little box that pops up, left click on Properties. It will have opened up an even bigger bix. In the top left corner should be some tabs. Click on the one that says Local Files and Browse the Local Files. It will now show you all your in game files. Click on the file called Mods.

Now you need to click on the Download button for the Mod. While it is downloading you can go on YouTube, do your homework, make a cup of tea or whatever but do NOT load up Game Dev Tycoon. Once it has downloaded, open up the folder and it should be the 2nd folder in. Drag/extract/copy that folder over into your Game Dev Tycoon Mods folder. Your Mod should now be ready to load. You are ready for step 3.

Finally you are going to load up your game. Once your game is loaded up, press Esc on your keyboard and click on Mods. Your Mod should be in there click on that Mod and it should turn blue. If not then refer to another catogory in this Guide. Once it is blue, back out of it and Exit the game. Then load it back up again and press New game. You will now have the Mod active and you can still earn achievments with the Mod active.

If so, try another folder or refer to the Discussion centre and help will be provided there. Your mod file may even be corrupted! Or just try a different version of that mod or a different mod completely!

Sadly, you are unlucky and the Mod does not work :(
