As far as the town growth building (festival), that only has an effect when you stop production in a city and choose to have it focus on growth. So, I'd say it isn't the most useful, but it can help out in certain situations. I'll add a thing about "producing growth" and the town bonus building. Unless you were talking about the "slums" upgrade at town level 3. I sort of mentioned it in passing already, maybe it should be called out more. In my opinion "guild grocer" (+5% HP to all units) is vastly superior to +3 growth in one town, but in your game, play as you think best.
You can also do Undead as a Race but without the trait. This lead units with upkeep and cities that grows like regular cities. But your units will still be of undead type so you can go with female spirt units for the physical resistant or use the Undying curse trait that pairs so well with Sion units as well as pointed out work well in the early game to build mass.
One of my favorit factions was actually this sort of living and undead combo. I saw it as the living serving the undead in a weird hybrid socity. Part of the fun of the game is making up you own fiction for what you pick.
and if you go custom race you can make kingdom UD
@jasons073 Good luck with the Dead! I've won at least once with every faction, but I've really only done in depth study of the Dead. Resoln is probably my worst.
I'll think about adding unique unit details, however right off the bat I see two problems. 1) all the combat units are skeletons instead of spirits. Yeah, you can get one more trait that way, but the spirit's half damage from almost any attack is just too good to not use. 2) unique units for any faction aren't all that unique really. They are mostly just pre-designed with traits and names that fit the faction "feel". Unless they use unique traits/equipment, you can build identical units in any faction. Off the top of my head, I don't think there are any pre-designed Dead units that are truly unique, except for the scout and pioneer (which are both spirits).
FYI--could you please expand this guide to cover the prebuild/unique units the dead have? I know it's best to design your own units, but I'm curious, and as far as I can tell there's no guide out there that covers the prebuilt units for any faction at all.
