As amazing as this game is, the pc port has it's many flaws. This patch made by Silent improves the performance and aims to fix the game's bugs.

This mod doesn't belong to me, it is the work of silent, a programmer and modder who has worked in many projects and made many patches and hotfixes for other games. Check his work out, he's amazing.

The Patch
Until QLOC releases an update to correct the port, this patch by Silent is the best option we have to improve the game.
Most of these fixes have been addressed in official hotfixes, but there is still one minimal CPU saving fix in SilentPatch that the official patches overlooked.

Featured fixes:
  • CPU usage has been significantly cut down.
  • A low level keyboard hook potentially causing issues with slow typing speed has been removed.
  • Worked around a crash occurring occasionally after finishing battles with a Heat Action.
  • Fixed a potential random startup crash.
  • Fixed several issues related to non-ASCII user names.

This patch only works for the steam version of the game.

Download/Installation
You can download the SilentPatch here:

https://cookieplmonster.github.io/mods/yakuza-4/#silentpatch

To install it, you first need to extract the donwloaded file, you can use windows' built in tools, winrar or 7zip (I myself use 7zip).

You should now have these files:

Next, you'll have to open yakuza 4's game directory. It can be found by right-clicking on the game entry on steam, selecting "manage" and then click on "browse local files"

Finally, move the files from the SilentPatch to the main game folder.

Congrats
You have now applied Silent's Yakuza 4 remastered patch.
I'll be updating this guide as Silent updates the fix.
So back to kicking ass, now at a stable 60 fps.

After all the official patches, there is only one CPU usage fix SilentPatch provides that QLOC did not - so you technically can continue to use it, but it won't be as beneficial as it was on launch.

Hey guys! I will be starting this game in a couple of days. Have the fixes implemented in this patch have been addressed in official patches? Or is still a good idea to implement this?

Thanks!

In this case, it's Windows only - it is about the path to your LocalAppData directory, which includes your Windows user name.

Non-ASCII usernames from Windows only ? Or also from Steam ? do both matter? I guess it depends per game, right ?

Yes, or cyrillic, or any regional characters like Polish ąęćóśćłń

non-ascii usernames? Like usernames with japanese/chinese/kanji characters in them? like mine?

I'm not sure yet - I'll be investigating the changes QLOC made! I expect at least one of the fixes I made may still be relevant, but the others will probably have to go.
