From Skunkape's blog post for the remaster of Season One:
"The bottom line is he was voiced by a white actor doing a stereotypical impression of an African American that made us cringe fourteen years later. We wanted to make this right by casting a black actor in the role."
I don't entirely disagree with that reasoning to their credit, but I'm not really a fan of the idea of editorializing finished art produced in another era.
This mod is the best of both worlds in that it allows everyone, regardless of their views on the changes, to purchase and enjoy the remasters.
The mod has now been updated to not only include season two, but subtitle fixes too!
It also now longer replaces stock archives and now instead runs modded archives alongside the base game, meaning no more file replacing and smaller overall mod file size!
@Rockman
I work with audio professionally. A group and I are currently working on a larger evolution of this mod and we are currently working on improving the audio for that project. Stay tuned!
In the original game, there were unused audio files for each character. Stuff that was likely removed from cutscenes or didn't make the final cut, but was then left in the game files.
When they uncompressed all the audio for the remaster, they also uncompressed EVERY audio file, including the ones that went unused originally. Then, when they recast Bosco, the only replaced the Bosco audio files with the new voice actor on the sound clips that were used in-game.
Long story short, the unused Bosco lines in the remaster are the original voice actor and are uncompressed.
No updates unfortunately. I still don't own season two so haven't really made it a priority.
It's definitely something I'd be interesting in having a crack at.
Unfortunately though, I don't currently own the second season's remaster.
Whenever I pick it up though, I'll consider it.
