Hey there o/

This guide countains about every useful info I could think off regarding weapons in this game.

That's about it. A huge load of stuff, including a lot of synergies with every weapon. After all, this game is all about weapons and synergies, and knowing whenever you should take "this" over "this" in a specific situation. So maybe this guide can help ? Or not, you tell me :)

I also included some personal ratings for each weapon with each character, ranging from S to D.
S = Excellent , A = Good, B = Average, C = Meh and D = Awful.

Obviously you're not forced to agree with my ratings. But note that I have over 200 hours at the time of writing, so I had the occasion to play (almost) every weapon extensively by now :p

Argus

Special effect : Bullets are lined up horizontally when fired and knock enemies back on hit.

Most impactful inscriptions
    ORANGE
  • Effective Range +500%, Piercing +1
    => Allows it to hit two targets with each bullet. The Effective Range is extra useful for sniping with +Accuracy boosts.

  • Magazine capacity becomes 2. When first shot kills, no ammo is spent. Otherwise +200% Lucky Shot chance to second shot
    => It's a decent DPS increase, especially with a +Reload speed inscription.
    BLUE
  • +150% Lucky Shot chance for next shot after making Crit Hit 3 times in a row
    => The description is incorrect : three successive Crits will cause all shots to gain the Lucky Shot bonus for a few seconds. This can be refreshed repeatedly.
    GREEN
  • Piercing +1, Projectile Speed +100%
    => As good if not better than the equivalent orange inscription.

  • Anything improving CritX, Accuracy, Stability or RoF.
    PURPLE
  • Weapon 1&2 share CritX bonus but -50% Stability
    => This is a good combo with any other weapon with a CritX of x4.0. This would bring the CritX of the Argus from x2.0 to x5.0. Worth considering if you have a +Accuracy and +Stability inscription on the Argus to offset the Stability loss and be able to crit easily.


Best synergies with scrolls


Against the Flow (after hitting an enemy, +15% ammo added to mag every second for 4s, otherwise loose 1 random ammo every second).
Skateboarder (reloads weapon when you dash).

=> Both allow for infinite mag (aka never reloads)


Giant Slayer (10% chance per hit to remove 15% current HP to target, 2000 HP max)
=> Can proc for every bullet that hits.



Hawkeye Sight (CritX +200%, non-crit dmg -50%).
Merciless Strike (+50% Lucky Shot chancefor Crit shots, -50% Lucky Shot chance for non-crit shots).

=> The low spread and fixed pattern of this weapon allows for easy crits so both of these scrolls are good DMG improvements. Especially Hawkeye Sight since it doubles the CritX of the weapon from x2 to x4.



Best synergies with ascensions

Cat :
  • Energy Blade (after casting Energy Orb, next hit does massively increased DMG and AOE DMG)
    => DMG per shot is high enough for this ascension to be worthwhile.
Dog :
  • Overloading (increased RoF after reloading a weapon)
    => RoF is really good for Argus.
Bird :
  • Victory Rush (increased Weapon DMG for a short duration when hitting multiple times with a single shot)
    => Effect will proc consistently.
Tiger :
  • Magical Supply (once [Thunderstrike] kills the enemy, the ammo consumed will be recovered and [Fatal Current] will be launched. However, -30% duration for this [Fatal Current])
    => Good with this weapon, can proc repeatedly.

  • Storm Blast (massively increased DMG for [Thunderstrike] )
    => Huge DMG burst, especially with a headshot. Good synergy with Magical Supply.

A decent weapon for everyone, can be used between close to medium range. Slighty better for the Bird since it's a shotgun.

The stagger effect is quite nice and should not be underestimate. I find this weapon usually very good for the early-mid game, but you usually find better alternatives for the late-game.
Hell

Special effect : Piercing +2 (bullets can pierce and hit behind 2 enemies/shields). Reloads ammo one by one.


Unlock condition : Kill Elite Spearman 3 times (first zone elite)

Most impactful inscriptions
    ORANGE
  • +30% Projectile, reload two ammo at a time
    => More damage and more time spent to shoot instead of reloading.

    BLUE
  • +10% weapon DMG on hit, but remove all bonuses on miss (Max 10 stacks).
    => It's hard to miss with such a high spread.

  • +10% Lucky Shot Chance for every 10% ammo consumed in magazine
    => Keep shooting your last bullet with that one for maximum DMG increase.

  • +35% weapon DMG against enemies within 8 meters, but -50% effective range
    => You should always be within 8m of your targets with this weapon.

    GREEN
  • +80% weapon DMG for the first shot after reload
    => Natural combo for this weapon. Better with the +40% Reload speed inscription.

  • Anything boosting Accuracy or Reload speed.

    PURPLE
  • Nothing worth.


Best synergies with scrolls

Preemptive Strike (The first shot from a magazine deals +50% extra DMG)
=> you can shoot - reload - shoot - reload your first shot to maximize damage output. Works best with the +40% Reload speed inscription.


Dormant Bullet (the fewer bullets remaining in the mag, the higher the weapon DMG, up to +75%)
=> same as with Preemptive Strike, but with your last bullet instead.



Giant Slayer (10% chance per hit to remove 15% current HP to target, 2000 HP max)
=> can proc for every bullet that hits.



Ammo Recoverer (gain one random ammo for every 1 meter traveled).
Bullet Bank (all ammo picked up converted to match the currently equiped weapon).

=> One of these scrolls is enough to never have any ammo problem with Hell, since it uses yellow ammo.


Copper Miner (All enemies dying within 7 meters drop 2x the basic reward).
Veteran (+1 Max HP for each enemy you kill within 7 meters).

=> You should always be within 7m of enemies with this weapon.



Best synergies with ascensions

Cat : Nothing worth mentionning.

Dog :
  • Sustained Fire (after killing an enemy or destroying an item, Weapon and Explosion DMG icnreased for a short duration)
    => A great DMG boost overall.

  • Ember Eruption (weapon DMG greatly increased for the last shots in magazine)
    => You can shoot your last bullets only to proc the effect consistently.

  • Overloading (after reloading a weapon, increased RoF for a short duration)
    => Will proc everytime you reload one shell.

  • Ammo Expert (recover X ammos per second while dual-wielding)
    => You'll max out yellow ammo really fast while dual-wielding.

Bird :
  • Victory Rush (Increased DMG for a short duration when hitting multiple times in a single shot)
    => Effect will proc consistently.

  • Hail of Bullets (Increased Weapon DMG, Increased Lucky Shot Chance and no ammo consumed for some shots after reloading)
    => You can reload a shell whenever you want to proc the effect.

  • Within Range (Increased DMG against enemy within 7 meters)
    => You should always be within 7m of the enemies with this weapon.
Tiger :
  • Fulminous Zap (huge DMG increase of thunder summoned by [Fatal Current], and -80% movement speed of the enemy hit by thunder for a very short duration)
    => The high spread of the weapon allows to hit a lot of enemies at once, which can proc the Thunder effect on each target hit.

The Bird makes better use of close range weapons and has some really good ascensions to go with the Hell.

It's not as good on other characters, but it has some synergies with the Dog, and works well with the flower nades of the Bunny. It's also a nice weapon to have early game to counter the Horsemen.

The Cat and the Tiger are more suited for long range weapons, they should avoid this weapon later on.
Illusion

Special effect : Projectile count and Fire rate increase while shooting (Projectile count increase from 4 to 10 and Fire rate from 2.5/s to 4.5/s after 5 shots).


Unlock condition : Kill Lu Wu once (first zone boss).

Most impactful inscriptions
    ORANGE
  • Projectiles +3, Effective Range +80%
    => (change projectile count from 4-10 to 7-13, effectively increasing damage by 75-30%. Effective range is useful with +Accuracy inscriptions).

  • +5% Lucky Shot Chance in 3s whenever hit an enemy (up to 100%). Refresh the duration on hit
    => Stacks rapidly.
    BLUE
  • 50% chance to fill magazine instantly when killing an enemy
    => Less reloading during long fights.

  • +10% weapon DMG on hit, but remove all bonuses on miss (Max 10 stacks)
    => Stacks very rapidly.

  • +40% CritX for 4s when make 4 Crit in 1s (bonus can stack)
  • +5% RoF (up to 75%) for 2s whenever triggering Crit Hit
  • +80% weapon DMG on next hit after making Crit Hit 2 times in a row
    => Crit effects proc reliably with this weapon.

  • +150% Lucky Shot chance for next shot after making Crit Hit 3 times in a row
    => This one in particular is really good. The description is actually incorrect : three successive Crits will cause all shots to gain the Lucky Shot bonus for a few seconds. This can be refreshed repeatedly.
    GREEN
  • Anything boosting CritX, RoF or Accuracy.
    PURPLE
  • Weapon 1&2 share CritX bonus but -50% Stability
    => This is a good combo with any other weapon with a CritX of x4.0. This would bring the CritX of the Illusion from x2.0 to x5.0. Worth considering if you have a +Accuracy and +Stability inscription on the Illusion to offset the Stability loss and be able to crit easily.


Best synergies with scrolls

Merciless Combo (+10% DMG for 1s when dealing damage)
=> One of the most broken synergies in the game. Procs for every bullet that hits. Can stack insanely fast for crazy damage (the maximum amount is 100 stacks for +1000% DMG !).



Against the Flow (after hitting an enemy, +15% ammo added to mag every second for 4s, otherwise loose 1 random ammo every second).
Skateboarder (reloads weapon when you dash).

=> Both allow for infinite mag (aka never reloads).


Giant Slayer (10% chance per hit to remove 15% current HP to target, 2000 HP max)
Explosive Bullets (non element weapons have a 20% chance of causing an additional explosion damage to 100% of the base damage)

=> Both can proc for every bullet that hits.


Deft Hands (no ammo will be consumed in next 2s when killing an enemy or destroying an item)
Genesis (when shooting, there is a 20% chance to add extra ammo into the magazine)

=> Both are good for ammo preservation and reloading less often.


Hawkeye Sight (CritX +200%, non-crit dmg -50%).
Merciless Strike (+50% Lucky Shot chance for Crit shots, -50% Lucky Shot chance for non-crit shots).

=> The low spread and low recoil of this weapon allows for very easy crits so both of these scrolls are huge DMG improvements. Especially Hawkeye Sight since it doubles the CritX of the weapon from x2 to x4.



Best synergies with ascensions

Cat :
  • Wildfire (increased RoF for a short duration after killing an enemy affected by Elemental Effect)
    => RoF is great on this weapon, can proc with corrosive grenades.
Dog :
  • Sustained Fire (after killing an enemy or destroying an item, Weapon and Explosion DMG are increased for a short duration)
    => A great DMG boost overall.

  • Ammo Expert (recover X ammos per second while dual-wielding)
    => Helps with the high ammo consumption.
Bird :
  • Victory Rush (increased weapon DMG for a short duration when hitting multiple times in a single shot)
    => Effect will proc consistently.
Tiger :
  • Voltage Surge (Crit Hit will make the enemy take increased Crit DMG for a short duration)
    => You should Crit a lot with this weapon.

    The Cat and the Tiger have less synergies and less incentive to go melee than the two other characters, but Illusion is still an excellent weapon overall with a crazy DPS.
Porcupine

Special effect : Corrosion DMG.
Primary fire shoots a single bullet that bursts into 15 projectiles upon impact. Secondary fire is a regular shotgun blast with a very high spread and low fire rate.
Note : both primary and secondary fire can be shot at the same time.


Unlock condition : Kill Rogue Villain 40 times with Corrosion DMG.

  • +65% weapon DMG against enemies affected by an Elemental Effect
    => Procs very reliably, huge DPS increase.
    BLUE
  • +40% CritX for 4s when make 4 Crit in 1s (bonus can stack)
    => Usually, a single primary shot is enough to crit more than 4 times.

  • Any Elemental-related inscription.
    GREEN
  • +50% weapon DMG against enemies in Decay effect.
    => Very reliable.

  • Anything increasing CritX, Stability or RoF.
    PURPLE
  • Weapon 1&2 share their damage type with the other weapon
    => Nice to proc fusion effects with another Elemental weapon.


Best synergies with scrolls

Dog :
  • Sustained Fire (after killing an enemy or destroying an item, Weapon and Explosion DMG increased for a short duration)
    => A great DMG boost overall.
Bird :
  • Victory Rush (increased weapon DMG for a short duration when hitting multiple times in a single shot)
    => Effect will proc consistently.
Tiger :
  • Fulminous Zap (huge DMG increase of thunder summoned by [Fatal Current], and -80% movement speed of the enemy hit by thunder for a very short duration)
    => The high spread of the Alt Fire allows to hit a lot of enemies at once, which can proc the Thunder effect on each target hit.

A great weapon usable at any range with both high DPS and utility (decay effect). Works great as a close range weapon for the Bird or an all-around weapon for other characters.
Pupil

Special effect : Lightning DMG. Shots can be charged to reduce the bullet spread by a lot (more than the reticle implies). Fully charged shots deal +50% damage.

Unlock condition : Kill Catfish Gunner 20 times with Lightning DMG.

  • Lucky Shot Chance +20%. When fully charged, +100% CritX.
    => Good upgrade for the charged shot.

  • Magazine capacity becomes 2. When first shot kills, no ammo is spent. Otherwise +200% Lucky Shot chance to second shot
    => It's a decent DPS increase, especially with a +Reload speed inscription.

  • +65% DMG against enemies under an Elemental Effect
    => Procs fairly reliably.
    BLUE
  • Any Elemental Effect related inscription.
  • Piercing +1, Projectile Speed +100%.
  • +150% Lucky Shot chance for next shot after making Crit Hit 3 times in a row
    => Fairly easy to proc with the charged shot.
    GREEN
  • +50% DMG against enemies affected by Shock effect.
  • Anything increasing CritX or RoF (RoF affects the charge time).
  • Accuracy and Stability are also quite good, especially for non-charged shots.
    PURPLE
  • Weapon 1&2 share their damage type with the other weapon
    => Nice to proc fusion effects with another Elemental weapon.

Lightning Shard (+25% Lightning DMG, immune to the negative effect of Shock Effect).

Lightning Enthusiast (Whenever you inflict the Shock effect on enemies also inflict Shock on yourself. When you are in Shock, +75% Lightning DMG).



Best synergies with ascensions

Cat :
  • Electrodominance (increased Lightning DMG).
  • Elemental Rage (increased DMG against enemies affected by an Elemental Effect).
  • Wildfire (increased RoF after killing an enemy affected by an Elemental Effect).

  • Energy Blade (after casting Energy Orb, next hit does massively increased DMG and AOE DMG)
    => Good DMG burst with a charged shot in the head.
Dog :
  • Overloading (increased RoF after reloading a weapon)
Bird :
  • Victory Rush (increased weapon DMG for a short duration when hitting multiple times in a single shot)
    => Effect will proc consistently.

  • Within Range (Increased DMG against enemy within 7 meters)
    => The Bird should mostly play this weapon at close range anyway.

  • Hail of Bullets (Increased Weapon DMG, Increased Lucky Shot Chance and no ammo consumed for some shots after reloading)
Tiger :
  • Magical Supply (once [Thunderstrike] kills the enemy, the ammo consumed will be recovered and [Fatal Current] will be launched. However, -30% duration for this [Fatal Current])
    => Good with this weapon, can proc repeatedly.

  • Storm Blast (massively increased DMG for [Thunderstrike] )
    => Huge DMG burst with a charged shot. Good synergy with Magical Supply.
Bunny : Nothing special.

A very well-rounded shotgun. It does great damage per shot, applies the Shock effect very easily (which damages all enemies in an area), is usable at any range and is very ammo-efficient.

It's a great Miasma applicator for the Cat with his Corrosive nades, and a solid Shotgun option for the Bird. It's also good for the Tiger with his Thunderstrike ability. Still very decent for the two other chars. This weapon can carry the early game by itself.
Wild Hunt

Special effect : Pressing down and releasing the fire button will trigger individual shots.



Unlock condition : Unlocked from the beginning.

Most impactful inscriptions
    ORANGE
  • When firing at enemy within 5m, Lucky Shot Chance +80%
    => Huge DMG increase, you should always be within 5m of enemies with this weapon anyway.

  • Magazine capacity becomes 2. When first shot kills, no ammo is spent. Otherwise +200% Lucky Shot chance to second shot
    => Huge DPS increase, even more with a +Reload speed inscription.
    BLUE
  • +10% weapon DMG on hit, but remove all bonuses on miss. (Max 10 stacks)
    => It's hard to miss with this weapon.

  • +35% weapon DMG against enemies within 8 meters, but -50% effective range
    => You should always be within 8m of your targets with this weapon.
    GREEN
  • +Reload speed is extremely useful.
  • +Accuracy and Stability are useful to allow mid-range shots.
  • Increased magazine size.
    PURPLE
  • Weapon 1&2 magazine capacity become the sum of both weapon's magazine capacity, and RoF +25%
    => this Gemini effect allows you to have a big magazine on the Wild Hunt if you have another weapon with a big mag (like a Big Hippo or a Thunderclap Glove).


Best synergies with scrolls


Advanced Depot (-15% weapon DMG, but use reserve ammo first rather than magazine when shooting)
=> You never need to reload and can shoot extremely fast. DPS is insane with this scroll, but you'll need something to replenish your ammo.


Giant Slayer (10% chance per hit to remove 15% current HP to target, 2000 HP max)
=> Can proc for every bullet that hits.



Deft Hands (No ammo will be consumed in next 2s when killing an enemy or destroying an item)
=> Excellent scroll both for ammo preservation and clearing potential. Even with a 2 mag Wild Hunt, you can shoot a lot for free after a kill.


Ammo Recoverer (gain one random ammo for every 1 meter traveled).
Bullet Bank (all ammo picked up converted to match the currently equiped weapon).

=> These scrolls are very good to solve ammo consumption problems for weapons using yellow ammo. You'll need at least one of these scrolls if you also have Advanced Depot.


Copper Miner (All enemies dying within 7 meters drop 2x the basic reward).
Veteran (+1 Max HP for each enemy you kill within 7 meters).

=> You should always be within 7m of enemies with this weapon.



Best synergies with ascensions

Cat :
  • Energy Blade (after casting Energy Orb, next hit does massively increased DMG and AOE DMG)
    => Decent enough. But you probably shouldn't use Wild Hunt with the Cat anyway.
Dog :
  • Ember Eruption (weapon DMG greatly increased for the last shots in magazine)
    => Will proc half of the time with a magazine of 2 shells.

  • Ammo Expert (recover X ammos per second while dual-wielding)
    => You'll max out yellow ammo really fast while dual-wielding.
Bird :
  • Hail of Bullets (Increased Weapon DMG, Increased Lucky Shot Chance and no ammo consumed for some shots after reloading)
    => Allows to shoot more than 2 times per magazine, super useful. This ascension is what makes this weapon usable with the Bird.

  • Victory Rush (Increased DMG for a short duration when hitting multiple times in a single shot)
    => Effect will proc consistently.

  • Within Range (Increased DMG against enemy within 7 meters)
    => You should always be within 7m of the enemies with this weapon.
Tiger : Nothing special.

Unless you get the Advanced Depot + Wild Hunt synergy, this weapon is barely usable by anyone but the Bird, who can use the full potential of such a close range weapon, especially with Hail of Bullets.

Honorable mention with the Bunny though, since this weapon will have 3 bullets instead of 2, and a 30% faster reload, which help a lot. Also this shoots just enough bullets to proc the extra damage from the flower nades each shot. This can carry the early game easily.

Big Hippo

Special effect : Automatic fire begins with 4 shots at 5.0 shots per second, then shoots the remaining magazine at 10.0 shots per second. If the trigger is released for at least 3 seconds, the rate of fire resets to 5.0.

Unlock condition : Kill Horsehead 10 times with non-explosion DMG.

    ORANGE
  • RoF +50%. Accuracy and Stability +100%
    => Everything this weapon needs. More DPS and allows for easy critical shots at longer ranges.

    The Cat, the Bird and the Tiger lack synergies with this weapon, and the Movement Speed reduction can be very hurtful. I wouldn't bother with this weapon usually, unless it's an elemental one.

    The Dog has more affinity with it, and can use it in his left hand during Dual-Wielding to remove the recoil completely. He can also use the Gemini inscription which plant spores with another fast firing weapon for good effect.

This weapon is just great. Just give it more stability and it's perfect.

The Cat can benefit a lot from the Fire element to proc explosions with his corrosive grenades (fusion effect).

The Dog can increase the fireballs effectiveness with his Explosion-related Ascensions, or just go the Dual-Wielding route with another Elemental weapon for fusion effects (also, the Crimson Firescale in left hand won't have any recoil).

The Bird has less synergies but can still go melee with this weapon and not really care about the low stability and use fireballs at point blank.

Fireballs are great with Tiger's Thunderstrike.
Dragonchaser

Special effect : The Alt Fire shoots a marking non-damaging projectile which will stick on the first solid object it hits, including enemies and walls. This uses no ammo and allows for perfect firing accuracy. Bullets can pierce and damage all enemies on their path to the mark.

The Energy Orb is useful to immobilize enemies and mark their heads more easily.

A bad weapon for the Dog since he can't use the mark while Dual-Wielding and this weapon is really bad without it.

The Bird is a melee character and shouldn't waste time marking enemies, there's better options for him.

The Dog can't use the Charge Shot while Dual-Wieding, and the Bird just have better options overall.

Decent option for the Tiger as a Sniper-like weapon.

This weapon was trash but got changed in the 30th July's patch to become a burst damage weapon. I didn't try it yet, it looks a bit like a Scalpel now on paper, but I'll test first before I say anything about it.

The Bunny makes better use of this weapon than other characters because of the high Rate of Fire.
Concealed Ammo

Special effect : The Alt Fire will throw the weapon itself in an arc, then trigger an Explosion on contact with an enemy or barrier. This consumes the remaining ammo in the magazine to deal about 85% weapon damage x (remaining ammo + 2). The weapon will automatically reequip afterwards, fully reloaded. This is faster than expending all ammo with regular fire, but cannot crit or reliably inflict inscription or elemental effects.

I mostly play the Concealed Ammo when I can make good use for the Alt Fire, and the Dog is the best character to use it with his Explosion-related ascensions. The Tiger seems like a good choice too with his Thunderstrike ability.

Otherwise pretty average weapon, the Primary fire isn't interesting enough compared to other weapons. Can be decent for the Rabbit, but there's better options.

Skateboarder (reloads weapon when you dash).

This weapon is amazing for many characters. The Cat because of the Elemental synergies obviously. The Dog because being able to Dual-Wield a Lightning weapon paired to the Dual Fang is insane for the fusion effects. And the Rabbit because it's a fast firing weapon, and a good one at that.

The Dual Fang is still good for other characters since its stats aren't even bad compared to other SMG's, and having two Elements is really good.
Scalpel

Special effect : Firing increases accuracy. Weapon can switch between single-shot and double-shot.

The Scalpel is a solid weapon overall, with high potential. Great for the Rabbit for the very high fire rate. I also like it on the Dog since it's a nice weapon to dual-wield.

Other characters have better synergies with other types of weapon in general.
Star Devourer

Special effect : Lightning DMG. Ammo is auto-reloaded from reserves when you stop firing. Weapon cannot be manually reloaded.
The last 5 bullets shoot at only about 3.0 RPS. Releasing the trigger causes a short 0.45s delay. After the delay, the magazine starts reloading at about 30 rounds per second.

Unlock condition : Unlocked from the beginning.

I don't like this weapon. The DPS is low and the auto-reload feature doesn't really feel like an advantage.

It's decent for the Cat since he has Elemental synergies, and it's a fast firing weapon it's ok for the Rabbit, but otherwise it's pretty bad. Even as a way to proc Fusion Effects while dual-wielding with the Dog it's quite bad, because you need to wait for the weapon to reload quite often.

The Thunderclap Glove is a better version of this weapon in almost every way.

    => I usually don't care much about this inscription, but here it's nice to be able to draw this weapon at any time, use the Alt Fire in emergency, and then switch back to your other weapon.

Used to be pretty mediocre. It now have a bigger magazine and much higher projectile speed, so it's decent now. I still don't like the slow reload speed, but other than that it's fine I guess.

Flies in a straight line and bounces off of barriers. Once it hits a barrier, it will fly for 0.2 seconds more then explode, dealing 50% damage to enemies caught in the blast radius. A fairly solid weapon. It was pretty meh before, but after some patches it now has a higher mag, faster reload, and much much faster projectile speed.
Nice to have on the Cat to proc extra Explosion damage with corrosive grenades.

I'd say this weapon is now usually better than the Glimmering, but one will be better than the other depending of your inscriptions and talents.
Sunder

Special effect : Bullets split horizontally into 2 over time and will split again up to three times.
The bullets split very quickly. They will reach the maximum of 8 projectiles in less than a second. They keep traveling parallel to each other in a wide horizontal spread. Shooting at very short range results in less projectiles, but grants a damage boost (up to x2.5).
Unlock condition :

    => Coupled with another weapon with a high magazine, this solve the frequent reloading problem of the Sunder and allow you to spam quickly.

Merciless Combo (+10% DMG for 1s when dealing damage)
Giant Slayer (10% chance per hit to remove 15% current HP to target, 2000 HP max)

=> Both these scrolls will proc often and be very effective thanks to the high numbers of projectiles of the Sunder.

Skateboarder (reloads weapon when you dash).

=> Very useful to never reload / reload less often.



Best synergies with ascensions

Cat : Nothing worth mentioning (but Elemental Ascensions can be good with the Orbs inscription).

Dog :
  • Sharpshooter (when using Dual-wield, fill the magazine immediately for both of the weapon. -50% Reload Time during Dual-Wield)
    => Less reload time is always welcomed with this weapon.
Bird :
  • Hail of Bullets (Increased Weapon DMG, Increased Lucky Shot Chance and no ammo consumed for some shots after reloading)
    => More ammos to shoot before reloading is always good.

  • Victory Rush (increased weapon DMG for a short duration when hitting multiple times in a single shot)

Tiger
  • Fulminous Zap (increased DMG of thunder summoned by [Fatal Current], and -80% movement speed of the enemy hit by thunder for an instant)

A solid base weapon, useful to clear rooms full of packed enemies with its horizontal spread, high CritX and low recoil. It's way better if you can increase its magazine size or have a faster reload. But the inscriptions that makes this weapon really shine are the "Orbs on crits" one, they are borderline broken with the Sunder so look out for those.
Talisman

Special effect : Never reloads.
Primary Fire : shoot two projectiles that will automatically attack enemy's weakness.
Alt Fire : shoot a burst of five projectiles consecutively (at a higher RoF).
Fire mode : switch between Fire, Corrosion and Lightning.

=> Since you don't really need to aim with this weapon, it's really easy to shoot at long range and benefit from this scroll.

The Talisman is very dependant of inscriptions to be good. It's often a solid choice for the Cat and the Tiger, thanks to the Elemental/Crit synergies and the long range nature of this weapon.

The Dog can't dual-wield the Talisman so it's bad.
Thunder Storm

Special effect : Lightning DMG. Piercing 1.
Alt Fire : Consumes 2 ammos and briefly charges up before firing a lightning ball that quickly travels forward, zapping any enemy that gets too close. If the lightning ball is hit with the weapon's primary fire, it detonates mid-air, causing damage to all nearby enemies and destroying their Shields, including on elites and bosses.

=> Good with this weapon since you'll crit a lot, and cumuling both direct and bleeding DMG to the health will increase your chances to kill shielded/armored enemies without having to break their shield/armor.


Long Shot (increase weapon DMG when hitting the enemy away from you. The further they are, the larger the bonus (up to 100%))

Coin Shot (consume 2 coins for each hit and +60% weapon DMG. If you kill the enemy in five hits or less, you will be refunded with coins spent on that enemy)

=> Both these scrolls work great with Snipers, thanks to their high DMG and Accuracy at long ranges. Coin Shot will not cost you much money compared to other weapon types.

    => An amazing inscription for any sniper. (I'm not sure if it works with the refund ammo ability of the Double Caliber though).

  • You can aim up to 3 targets when scope is on
    => Vastly increases damage output against enemy groups.

  • After hitting an enemy with both bullets, next shot +150% CritX
    => Average DMG increase at perfect accuracy.
      BLUE
    • When scope is on for 1s, hits deal Crit DMG
      => No need to aim for the head anymore, and you'll always refund ammos if both bullets hit.

    • When scope is on, continuously increase increase weapon DMG (up to 100%)
      => DMG increases quickly, great boost overall.

    • 25% chance to kill the target instantly on Crit Hit (normal enemies only)
      => Has two times 25% chance to Proc per shot.

    • Drop ammos for current weapon on Crit Hit Kills
      => Helps with the high ammo consumption of this weapon.
      GREEN
    • After waiting for 1 second with scope on, next shot's CritX +200%
      => Great for a green inscription.

    • RoF is useful tu increase DPS at perfect accuracy.
    • Stability is useful to keep aiming at weak spots.
      PURPLE
    • Weapon 1&2 share CritX bonus but -50% Stability
      => Can increase Double Caliber's CritX from x4 to x7 with another x4 weapon. Good if you have a +Stability inscription.

    Long Shot (increase weapon DMG when hitting the enemy away from you. The further they are, the larger the bonus (up to 100%))

    Coin Shot (consume 2 coins for each hit and +60% weapon DMG. If you kill the enemy in five hits or less, you will be refunded with coins spent on that enemy)

    => Both these scrolls work great with Snipers, thanks to their high DMG and Accuracy at long ranges. Coin Shot will not cost you much money compared to other weapon types.


    Hawkeye Sight (CritX +200%, non-crit dmg -50%. Weapons that have a Scope gain 2x zoom.).
    Merciless Strike (+50% Lucky Shot chancefor Crit shots, -50% Lucky Shot chance for non-crit shots).

    => Snipers benefit a lot from these since you'll Crit often with them. They also get a Magnification increase from Hawkeye Sight.


    Preemptive Strike (The first shot from a magazine deals +50% extra DMG)
    => You'll often benefit from this boost as long as you manage to crit consistently.



    Ammo Recoverer (gain one random ammo for every 1 meter traveled).
    Bullet Bank (all ammo picked up converted to match the currently equiped weapon).

    => One of these scrolls is enough to never have any ammo problem with this weapon, since it uses yellow ammo.


    Best synergies with ascensions

    Cat :
    • Energy Blade (after casting Energy Orb, next hit does massively increased DMG and AOE DMG)
      => An obvious pick for a sniper build.

    • Power Source (Energy Orb has X more charges)
    • Enhancement Lasts (Energy Orb freezes enemies for X additional seconds)
      => More Orbs and more freezing time means an easier time to headshot enemies.

    Tiger :
    • Magical Supply (once [Thunderstrike] kills the enemy, the ammo consumed will be recovered and [Fatal Current] will be launched. However, -30% duration for this [Fatal Current])
      => Excellent with Snipers, can proc repeatedly.

    • Storm Blast (massively increased DMG for [Thunderstrike] )
      => Huge DMG burst with Snipers. Good synergy with Magical Supply.

    • Shadow Knight (increased weapon DMG and skill DMG if there is no enemy within 10m)
      => Very good with Snipers.

    • Eye of the Storm (increased DMG for Sniper on next hit to the same target after dealing damage with Sniper)
      => Helps against elites/bosses in particular.

    Dog, Bird and Rabbit : Nothing worth mentioning.

    I'm not a big fan of this sniper, but after some buffs in precedent patches it's now decent. Technically, it has the higher DPS of all snipers, which make it better than other snipers against Elites/Bosses, but it's usually less good against regular enemies, notably because the projectiles are slow and have a weird spiral pattern, which make headshots harder to do against moving targets.

    If you have an inscription that allows you to auto-crit, it becomes quite good in general.

    The Cat and the Tiger are the obvious long range fighters. This weapon is terrible for the Dog, and doesn't synergize with the Bird and the Rabbit.
    Golden Bow

    Special effect : Cannot be dual-wielded. Never reloads.
    You can draw your arrows. The maximum rate of fire is 1.5 shots per second, which causes arrows to drop off at short range. Fully drawing each shot results in about 1.0 shots per second, which grants arrows high accuracy, higher damage and higher CritX.


    Unlock condition : Kill Bandit Retainer 40 times with a Crit.

    • Lucky Shot Chance +50%, Stability -50%
      => Stability isn't an issue with this weapon.
      GREEN
    • RoF +25% / +50% RoF for 5s after killing an enemy
      => RoF also decreases charge time, it's great on this weapon.
      PURPLE
    • Weapon 1&2 share CritX bonus but -50% Stability
      => Can increase Golden Bow's CritX from x4 to x7 with another x4 weapon. Decent.

    => Since this weapon always have 1 ammo in the mag, you'll always benefit from the extra DMG.

    I have to try this weapon again after it got changed in the 30th July's patch. It was quite bad before, looks like it'll be a lot better now, we'll see.

    A decent weapon for the Cat and the Tiger, it can get some good inscriptions and synergies.

    Bad for the Dog since you can't Dual-wield with it. Unless you want to try a meme build with Ember Eruption :p

    The Bird should stick to close range fights.
    Goshawk

    Special effect : Charge up a shot to fire a powerful bolt. It will always charge up completely, then shoot immediately. If the trigger is held down, it will charge up, then shoot when the trigger is released.

    Unlock condition : Kill Bandit Tactician 40 times with a Crit.

    I'm not a fan of this weapon because it's so slow. Though it's a good pick for a One-shot/One-kill type of build. Works well with the Cat and Energy Blade, or even better with the Thunderstrike ability of the Tiger. Look out for good inscriptions however, the Goshawk is vastly improved by those.

    The Dog and Bird should probably avoid this weapon.
    Piercing Flame

    Special effect : Fire DMG.
    Piercing : shots will hit enemies behind the first target.

    My favorite Sniper for the Cat. It's very easy to use and is a good way to proc Explosions (fusion effect) with his corrosive grenades. The Burning effect usually compensates well for the lower DMG of the weapon.

    It's also a good pick for the Tiger, who likes Snipers a lot.
    Sting

    Special effect : It rotates between three firing modes with each shot : Triple arrow => Double arrow => Single arrow that causes a corrosive explosion.

    The corrosive explosion will always remove completetly the armor of any regular enemy it hits.

    Unlock condition : Kill Umbrella Spirit 40 times.

      => Ignores armor of regular enemies, and basically works like a Penetration Bullet against elites/bosses. Basically makes the Sting even better against armored enemies.
      BLUE
    • +150% Lucky Shot chance for next shot after making Crit Hit 3 times in a row
      => The description is incorrect : three successive Crits will cause all shots to gain the Lucky Shot bonus for a few seconds. This can be refreshed repeatedly. You can proc this with your first and second shots, and profit of the Lucky Shot chance for your third shot.

    • Elemental-related inscriptions are good.
      GREEN
    • +Stability is super useful.
      PURPLE
    • Weapon 1&2 share their damage type with the other weapon
      => Great to proc a lot of fusion effects.

    I'm not giving this weapon a "D" because you can always use it to break armors (it's especially useful to counter those Black Lizards in the desert), but other than that, it's a very mediocre weapon with awful recoil and low DPS. I don't want that.
    Strike Wind

    Once hit the target, three arrows will be split to the enemy behind the target.

    Unlock condition : Kill Catfish Man 20 times.

    A usually better version of the Golden Bow. It does less base damage and has slower projectiles, but compensates with higher Crit DMG, no Projectile-drop, and can hit multiple enemies in one shot.

    Good for the Cat and the Tiger, the long range fighters.

    Still bad for the Dog since you can't Dual-wield with it. Unless you want to try a meme build with Ember Eruption :p

      => Very good with Snipers.

    A middle ground between an Assault Rifle and a Sniper. Overall, I didn't like this weapon, but since the Tao update it got a pretty decent buff and it seems quite fine now.

    Slightly better for the Cat because you can lock enemies with your Orb ability and headshot them easily. Can be good with the Tiger too if you get Eye of the Storm.

    Look for good inscriptions on this weapon. Some of them, like the "Orbs on crit" or the "25% chance to insta-kill on crit" make this weapon suddently super good.

    An amazing weapon for crowd control. Actually better than the Tiger Cannon most of the time IMO. Not as good as the Shrieker against single targets though. It still suffers from the "Launcher syndrome" of not being able to generate money with Bounty Hunter. Also it slows you down a lot.

    The Dog obviously benefit from Explosive weapons the most, but most characters have good synergies available.
    Frenzied Shark

    Special effect : Fire bouncing grenades that cause small-area explosions on impact. The grenades explode instantly when hitting an enemy, or will bounce on walls and the ground for up to 3 seconds until they explode.

    The Cat can also benefit from it as an Elemental weapon. Coupled with his Corrosion grenades it can proc Explosion-fusion effects quite reliably.

    This weapon is bad against bosses, doesn't generate any money with Bounty Hunter and slows you down, but it has good synergies available with most characters and its a good room cleaner. The Dog is still the overall best choice to play with this weapon thanks to his Explosion Ascensions. I also like the Thunderstrike ability from the Tiger coupled with its huge AOE.

    But I still think that the 1 rocket mag, low accuracy and slow reload time makes the Tiger Cannon inferior to both the Bone Dragon and Shrieker overall, unless you have specific synergies to make use of its smaller mag.

    Good for the Cat thanks to his Elemental synergies, corrosive grenades and ability to lock enemies on place with his Orbs. Also good for the Bunny which like fast-shooting weapons.

    II also quite like to have this weapon on the Dog as a dual-wield weapon. Since this weapon has no recoil, you can play the glove in right hand and anything else in left hand and you'll have no recoil at all while shooting in dual-wield (since left hand weapon doesn't have recoil).
    Rainbow

    Special effect : Fire a ray that auto-locks on a nearby enemy.
    Alt Fire : Launch a mark, and the ray will lock on the mark.

    Regular fire has medium range. If no enemy is in range, holding down the trigger will create no ray and use no ammo. The mark will vanish after 15 seconds or if another mark is created. Regular fire hits the mark at any range.

    Meh weapon most of the time. The DPS isn't quite there and marking enemies heads is a chore. And even if you do so, you need some synergies with Crits for it to be worthwhile.

    There's a bug right now in the game (or at least I'm pretty sure it's a bug) where the Rainbow benefits from the 5th talent of the Tiger (it has a chance to Crit even when not hitting a weakness) which makes it really good if you have some synergies with Crits.
    Thunderclap Gloves

    Special effect : Lightning DMG. Shoot a Lightning ray that spreads out from one target to another on hit.

    The ray has perfect accuracy at full range. It deals low damage to single targets, but hits all targets in a very large area.

    Usually average in earlier parts of the game, this weapon tends to be a powerhouse in the late game thanks to the possibilities of getting a lot of fusion effects in a large area. Notably with the Gemini (purple) inscription that shares the damage type which is really easy to get in Zone 3.

    But it can be good even sooner if you can ramp-up its Elemental Proc Chance earlier. Notably with the Cat and his corrosive grenades (easy way to apply Miasma to a lot of enemies) or with the Dog and another Elemental weapon while Dual-wielding.

    The Bird is the best character to use this weapon, though the Cat can use it on enemies immobilized by his orb and proc Miasma effects with his grenades. The Dog can't Dual-wield with a sword so forget it.

    This weapon provides great movement speed and the higher burst damage of all swords, so it's fine to have it, but use another weapon against bosses or you'll have a bad time :)
    Poisonous Ghost

    Special effect : Corrosive DMG. Cannot be dual-wielded.
    Every 3rd hit in rapid succession delivers a more powerful strike, dealing +60% damage with a guaranteed Decay effect and staggering enemies, while consuming 3 ammos in the process. If the magazine is empty, the bonus damage does not occur and Decay will not be inflicted.

    Every time 12 hits are inflicted, 1 use is added to the Weapon Skill, up to 3. Failing to hit an enemy within 10 seconds after the last hit or swapping weapons will remove all progress made, requiring another 12 hits.

    Weapon Skill: a massive green wave of energy is launched forward a moderate distance, piercing through solid objects and all enemies, staggering them and dealing higher damage based on the enemy's missing Health and Shield/Armor.

    • Elemental Rage (increased DMG against enemies affected by an Elemental Effect).
    • Wildfire (increased RoF after killing an enemy affected by an Elemental Effect).
    Dog :
    • Ember Eruption (weapon DMG greatly increased for the last shots in magazine)
      => Always proc if you have 0 ammo in the mag and use Primary Attack.
    Bird :
    • Within Range (Increased DMG against enemy within 7 meters)
      => You should always be within 7m of the enemies with this weapon.
    Tiger : Nothing in particular.

    A sword, which means only the Bird can use it effectively. It's a corrosive weapon so it doesn't synergize well with the Cat and his corrosive grenades. The Dog can't dual-wield with swords so forget it.

    After testing all the swords, I'd say this one is clearly the least good of the three. It doesn't have the great burst damage of the other two swords, nor a very useful Alt attack. Its still a decent weapon to pick if you want movement speed at least. Use another weapon against bosses.
    EXTRA : Movement Speed
    Something that isn't said ingame, though important to know, is that every weapon can slow you down more or less depending of its weapon type. You may have noticed for example that the Big Hippo or the Tiger Cannon make you very slow.

    So in short, if you have the "Breacher" Talent maxed, you're moving 55% faster with a Sword (35% faster with the Fire Tower), 20% faster with Pistols, 10% faster with SMG's, 10% slower with the Big Hippo and the Big Launchers, and normally with everything else.

    Take that in mind while doing the parkour rifts. If you have a Sword, always equip it for faster movement, otherwise the Foundry (it's a pistol) is always there for you :)

    Instead of being fully automatic, the Angelic Aura had either a 5 burst shot or 8 burst shot, with huge recoil and low damage. It is much better now.

    Idk if this helps, but I've been using Angelic Aura for a little bit, and idk how others feel, but this thing's fire rate is stupid good, so it excels on Tao so far, and it seems pretty alright on other characters. Yes, without good inscriptions its stability is crap but its accuracy seems decent and one I got in the first chapter had a base damage of almost 80, these things crank out insane dps if you manage to hit your shots, but that's just my experience so far. It keeps its small magazine but the reload is fairly quick so I don't have much issue with it. May I ask how it sucked/how it was different before it got buffed?

    Just got an aura of venom run in. between deft hands and missing returning the ammo, I had a minigun. and when I combined it with the gemnii inscription that let me use my offhand element (chose electric), I melted... everything. including the final boss.

    The Fire Dragon tends to be a fantastic early game weapon while the gloves are usually better in the late-game. They are very dependant to the character, inscriptions and scrolls (which is why I list all the synergies I know in this guide) but can be very broken, especially the Thunderclap Gloves which is arguably the most broken weapon in the game if you play it in a Miasma build (with corrosive grenades from the Cat, a share dmg type gemini with a corrosive weapon, etc).

    It's just a matter of knowing when using a Glove will be good for you, there's a lot of factors to that. But you're right that at base, an early game glove without nothing (especially the Thunderclap Glove) aren't fantastic. Which is why you usually get your "definitive" weapon setup between the middle of Act 2 and the beginning of Act 3.

    May you elaborate why the gloves are decent? I usually find them atrocious lol. low dps, low elemental chance, high ammo consumption, frequent reloads...on the first stage I struggle to kill a singe Heavy Crossbowman with those things sometimes lol. Isn't the Fire Dragon just a direct upgrade to the Laser Glove, besides range?

    the bloody drill is slept on imo specially some rolls you get from tigers starting perk select, just pray for ammo increase lol

    I think wild hunt is usable for dog since when you hold it in your left hand, you can cancel out all recoil it brings(Even bird suffer with such high recoil especially with advanced depot). Spread increase remain the same though.

    True, I'll add it. I didn't put this synergy before because Double Caliber was absolute garbage and it was super hard to keep your magazine full consistently. God thanks it has been improved.
