Have you every wanted to play the various Dog Days game modes and excitedly rushed to the online menu and got into a game only to find... there's nobody even in the game? And after waiting for several minutes you realise nobody will ever join? Well, that's because the multiplayer community for the game isn't as active as something like Call Of Duty (Not even just the newer ones, Black ops 1, a game released back in 2010 still has around 8,000 active players on PS3). So, how could you ever play multiplayer in this masterpiece? Well, follow this guide and you will know how!

In Dog Days there are 4 different online modes you can play. But how do you get to them?

Firstly, there is co-op. Co-op allows you to pair up with a buddy, one being Kane and the other being Lynch as you take on the story mode at any difficulty you desire! Here is how to access it.


On the home menu, press story mode.




Press online co-op




This is where it gets confusing for some people. There are 4 different options for you to chose from, but only two work in 2021. To get an online co-op game with a buddy you'll have to make sure there is nobody else trying to find a co-op session as you will be in their session, press 'Host Public Game' and you should find yourself in this menu here:




Here you are able to select the levels you want to play as well as the difficulty level. How can your friend join now? Do you invite them?

Well not exactly. See, this is why you have to host a public game, the inviting in this game is broken and will more than often not work. Additionally, many people have reported crashed, bugs and glitches while using the steam overlay in this game so inviting from there may be difficult.

So for your friend to join, they should just press the option 'Quick Match' as seen here




And they should be in your game.

The only issue that could occur here is your friend joins another persons game who may be idol in the menu. The chances of this are very slim, but if this happens then instead create a custom game with your desired level and difficulty and have your friend filter the same options you did.

Dog Days includes a ranked game system allowing people to level up and unlock better guns! Your rank in arcade mode and your rank in online multiplayer do not have any association to one another, so do not expect to be 'Rank 1: Mastermind' in online if you are in arcade mode. There are three different ranked modes you can play each with their own twist but mainly having the same motive, GET THE MOST MONEY! Getting money in the game will allow you to gain rank points and progress through the various levels. Getting kills will also contribute to this levelling but ONLY if you escape the heist. Here are the modes and how to get to them.

Ranked - Fragile alliance

Fragile alliance requires at least 4 players to start and is 3 rounds long. You play on one of 6 various maps (9 if you have the DLC) with the goal being to escape with the most cash and finish top of the table! You can work as a team and play nicely for fun, or, you can get greedy and kill your team mates for their money to ensure that you leave with the most cash and get those rank points! But careful, if you kill a team mate they will respawn as a cop and have a chance to get revenge and take back your money, getting a finders fee allowing them to be top of the scoreboard. Killing your team has to be well timed and is an insane adrenaline rush! Sound fun?



Ranked - Undercover Cop

Undercover is very similar to Fragile Alliance, it requires 4 players and is three rounds long and all the same maps. You are still robbing banks, goons and trains but this time, one of you is an undercover cop! A rat, a snake, a pig! But who? Well it is a randomly selected player on your team and their goal is to try and kill every player who is apart of the heist. When the undercover cop kills somebody, they do not appear as a traitor like somebody normally would. Instead, they appear as killed by a goon or just a random thing. But the cop is not allowed to kill other cops or goons, nor will they shoot at the cop so it is the cops job to seem non suspicious by shooting walls, trying not to run out infront (as police wont shoot and it'll be obvious you are the cop. it is the criminals job to figure out who is the cop and eliminate them so the heist can continue as normal. Sound fun? well it is. Nobody can respawn as a cop in this mode.



Ranked - Cops and Robbers

Cops And Robbers is madly fun, mayhem mode that requires 6 people to play. The same maps are here and everything is really the same, but this time there are two teams! One team will start as the cops whilst the other team will start as the robbers. The goal of the robbers is to loot the money and escape no problem, on the other hand the role of the cops is to kill the robbers and secure the most money by looting it once a crook has been killed. You can stop crooks from escaping by destroying their van. You switch between cops and robbers each round. There are 4 rounds in total. They're very manic and the PVP is super fun, you can respawn until the end of the round.



Want to know how to play all these epic, fun game modes? Well here's how!

Firstly, you need to find people who will play of course! You can do this by asking our steam group, or discord group where people are always happy to play a game! You can join these groups, and learn more about them later down in this guide.

Secondly, launch the game and get onto the main menu. From here, press 'Multiplayer Modes'



You should see this menu



This menu here allows you to play an online or LAN game! LAN will be everything the same as we do here, except you set up a LAN game for it. Additionally, there are a few cool other options on this menu for anybody interested.

which will explain more about the games multiplayer modes in a 'Dog Days' fashion, they're really quite fun and entertaining and worth a watch if you want an angry Chineese women to explain how robbing a train works. On the previous menu here

Back to the point. On the menu, press online which is at the top of the original multiplayer menu.



You should find yourself on this menu below what you are reading



Press ranked match and you will be taken into the menu allowing you to select the three game modes. Now, just press any one of them you want! It does not matter that they are a quick match that's exactly what you want it makes no difference at all! From there, you should either be creating a lobby or joining a lobby. if nobody is currently hosting a ranked fragile alliance (or any other game mode) then it'll make you the host. However, if somebody is already hosting a game, it'll instead tell you 'Joining Lobby' and you will find yourself in that lobby.

And that's it! You now know about the various game modes and how to find the game modes as well as set them up ready for multiplayer! Next up is custom game, a lot of what i write will be copied over as it's essentially the same process but there are some thing I'll need to explain. The reason I'm copying it over is incase somebody comes here looking only for custom games and does not read this section here as it is irelivent to them.

Custom games are different to ranked games as they don't include a rank. You will not gain rank points if you win a game your level will just stay the same. So whats the point in them? Well they allow you to add more rounds and time to a heist/game! This means that you can have a longer game which is always fun! But other than that it serves no real purpose and the majority of us will normally play ranked. But incase your wondering how to do a custom game, here's how and here are the game modes you can do with them!

Custom - Fragile alliance

Press your desired mode and it'll create a game where you can change the number of rounds as well as the time for each game.



If somebody is already hosting, you will join that lobby.
