Turret Challenge #2
By Magical☆Melody
A nice and simple guide on how to beat the Turret Challenge without having to watch videos or understand anything fancy.

Turrets should only be:
Neutral (N)
Shock (S)
Wave (W)

There are 18 turrets in total.

Where is this quest?
Found in the Basin Keep city.

This guide is only for the 2nd part, particularly the challenge mode.
How to beat it
.png]
Using the map above, build turrets in order from 1-18 in the element listed in the image (or below)

1 Neutral
2 Neutral
3 Shock
4 Wave
5 Wave
6 Wave
7 Shock
8 Shock
9 Wave (Try to have as early as possible to beat the raging bull!)
10 Shock
11 Shock
12 Wave
13 Neutral
14 Neutral
15 Wave
16 Shock
17 Shock
18 Wave

Basically the goal is to let the machines do all the work. Until you complete turret 9 though, you will need a bunch of frantic work to keep them from leaving.

The more waves you beat without anything leaving, the sooner you will be able to let the turrets do most of the work.

NOTE:
If you leave this quest til late, the enemies will scale with your level and the turrets will be a little less effective. At earlier levels you may be able to leave it indefinitely. At level 56 like I was, you will eventually die without a bunch of work. Still, with this you should have no trouble clearing all the quests AND getting the Trench Boots (for 33 Tokens) which can be upgraded in Rhombus Square into the highest level boots in the game Artillery Boots which will require 27 tokens and some other rare items (Epic Metal x2, Hoverpad x2) as well as 123321 Credits.

If you reach level 99 though, it flips back and enemies can no longer be tougher meaning that you'll once more be incredibly over powered for the challenge (Thanks user: Mapron!)

There we go. I hope no one else now has to memorize an order of turrets to build or watch a video while simultaneously play a game!

Fascinating :o I wonder if there was some balance updates :o I think as you level up higher, it eventually gets easier? But when I wrote the guide, I was at level 56, so it's surprising that whatever balances were made were so stark!

Mapron earlier had said when you reach level 99, the enemies are much weaker than you and it becomes easy again, so might be worth coming back a bit later and seeing how it goes then?

Dunno if it changed but this strategy doesn't seem to work for me. I barely get past wave 4 on the infinite one where the enemies start at my level (57). I just about did the quest for getting to wave 8 (where the enemies start at level 47). The turrets upgraded when it hit wave 8 and then none of the enemies died despite the turrets being better, but maybe there were more enemies. But I got the quest reward anyway.

When I tried the infinite challenge a few times following this guide, I can't even get past the first few waves. I build the next turret as soon as I have energy to do so, but enemies are getting through even with me hitting them and slowing them down myself.

I also found the opposite of what Dust D Reaper said - the enemies are mostly getting through from the left, shock turrets are not stopping the blob enemies, or the fish, or the plant things. The right side is mostly fine, the shokats die quickly, and the bovines are easy to hit repeatedly with sphere storm.

Wow Liziele, nice work! I'm so glad this guide is still helping people after four years of being annoyed at having to rely on youtube videos when I just want a picture that tells me everything at the same time! <3

Ended up wave 26, score of 8.327
166 tokens
I started at level 68, and in the last wave, enemies were level 89. I had to help the turrets with some throw and combat art, especially level 3 Shock and Wave, but definitely a good job

Thanks so much Dust D Reaper!

Additional tips for anyone having trouble, grinding tokens or just highscore hunting

- The Shock turrets can mostly hold the left on their own but the Wave turrets need some help so once all turrets are set up stand behind turret 1 to keep view of the entire right side and end of the left track
- If you have a clean shot to break a Shokats shield, TAKE IT
- the biggest danger are Teslabovines getting through with their shields, break it by hitting them with melee attacks before or after they charge, the safest spot to do it being next to turret 5 when they try to do their second charge
- Dont bother with Combat Arts for the most part, the only one worth considering is the Lvl 2 Wave dash art that triggers an explosion after you dash for cleaning up the last enemies of the wave

With these strats and an end game Bullseye build (Trackwalker Visor, 2 Mantis Whips, Killing Dress and Artillery Boots) on level 76 I managed to get 5885 points on wave 22 (over 99 tokens)

I'm really psyched this guide is getting a resurgence! Means the game must be too, which rules! One day I'll hopefully play the DLC and fall in love again <3

This guide works ENTIRELY too well. I even messed up and made 4 Cold, AND let 2 through in the first waves, and then I *stopped attacking* after I hit 1000. Final score was 2,074. Probably would've been way higher if I kept fighting. It also got me the "200 kills in 1 combat" achievement!
